It is a coup attempt but Polish President Nawrocki is screwing up the Prime Minister and his minions attempts. Nawrocki turned around his plane from a trip to Senegal and returned to Warsaw (reportedly the military refused Tusk's attempts to block landing as the airport was military). Tusk took off to a resort and issued a claim that will haunt him, that it was all about the opposition taking Poland out of the EU. The AWFL karen fake judge that tried to kick out the top judges of the Constitutional Tribunal got shoved aside when she tried to prevent Polish President from entering the building. Police resisted the President briefly but as a former boxer, he pushed them aside.

So the Polish Constitution leaves a mess. Elections are not until 2027, the opposition is united but cannot remove the PM without 3/5 majority, the President is head of the military but the defense minister has day to day control and the President cannot remove him, etc. etc.

57 My oldest granddaughter just turned 18. A lovely young lady and a good kid. She and I have discussed situational awareness and acting in a safe manner since she was a wee lass. She once asked me about me hitching and was incredulous to learn we'd climb into a stranger’s car with no phone and a vague plan to get somewhere eventually and felt like this was a completely normal transportation option.

She looked at me that the same way we’d look at someone casually juggling live grenades for fun.

Turns out villagers will petition the government for money to dig a well--a process that could take YEARS--rather than ask a nearby well-digger to do it (cheap!).

Because the well-digger is from the wrong tribe.

I forgot to add that my one time hitchhiking I was picked up by an undercover cop who yelled at me the entire ride to the hospital front door. As he had my ID I thought he was going to call my parents (this was always a fear 1000mi away) and then talk to the nursing director. He did neither.

He did tell me if he saw me doing this again he'd arrest me.

I have no idea if he was a real undercover cop, but at least he was not a serial killer finding student nurses in an early snowy Thanksgiving morning. There's that.

Only difference is I think Trump and his team are aware of the Democrat game plan. I think even the President of Poland and most of Tusk's party were in the dark about today's actions too. Tusk is now in a seaside resort being called a mutt German (Tusk has some German blood in him) on X. His fake judges are being brushed aside and his ministers are now struck with second doubts. Foreign Minister Sikorski is in Atlanta for G20 meetings with already several key ambassadors resigning publicly denouncing the coup. And he is likely to get serious pushback from Rubio and Trump over this.

Perhaps a failed coup in Poland gives pause to the assorted groups trying push one here for a moment. Young people are flocking to the court building now and siding against the coup and police cordon as Tusk looks like a return of Jaruzelski here.
