Feds Raid Multiple Fraudulent "Autism Services Centers" in, Get This, Minnesota

Hm. It's almost as if Democrat-run states deliberately allow massive fraud to illegally funnel money to their key constituent groups.

It's the same scam we've seen before: essentially fake "health care providers" bill the federal government for "services" they never provide to "patients" who don't exist or don't even have the ailments they're supposedly being treated for.

This could quickly be stopped by the most basic of verification protocols, but the Democrats always turn those all the way off.

And, as usual, they find a liberal criminal, in this case a 70-year-old Karen, who has some certification which allows her to sign off on the completely-fake billing.

And no further questions are asked.

Federal agents raided multiple Minnesota autism service providers Thursday in the latest law enforcement action involving a state already under intense scrutiny over allegations of widespread fraud in taxpayer-funded programs.

The FBI confirmed that federal and state agencies were conducting "court-authorized investigative activity" at multiple locations across Minnesota, including sites in the Twin Cities and Rochester, according to MPR News.

...

Iska Inc. received more than $16.7 million in Medicaid payments between 2018 and 2025, according to state data reviewed by the Minnesota Star Tribune. The business participated in Minnesota's Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention program, which provides services to children and young people with autism and has faced increasing scrutiny over fraud allegations.

...

The Justice Department also announced charges against 15 defendants in May in connection with alleged health care fraud schemes involving more than $90 million in intended losses. The cases included an alleged $46.6 million scheme targeting Minnesota's autism intervention program, which DOJ said saw Medicaid claims surge from more than $600,000 in 2018 to more than $400 million by 2025.

Meanwhile: Greasy Gavin Newsom is spending millions of taxpayer dollars to provide luxury gourmet food to welfare lifers.

California Sends Luxury Foods to Welfare Recipients

As middle-class families struggle to afford groceries, the state delivers organic produce, salmon, and more to Medi-Cal members.

Salmon, beef, organic produce, and Amy's Kitchen meals: these are just some of the luxury foods that California welfare recipients can get delivered to their homes each week, for free.

Californians like TikTok user "Lupita" are taking full advantage. Earlier this year, she posted a video of herself opening a taxpayer-funded grocery box, apologizing to her manicurist as she unboxed it by hand. Inside, she found carrots, heads of broccoli, apples, oranges, celery, rice, lettuce, and more.

"Yesterday, I was like, 'I need some lettuce,' but the lettuce was like five dollars," she said. "And look at this. Fresh lettuce! Thank you, God."

She can also thank Governor Gavin Newsom. As part of his nearly $12 billion Medicaid reform package, welfare recipients--including illegal immigrants--can receive free, "medically tailored" meals and groceries, delivered straight to their door. They can get foods for free that would cost ordinary people a small fortune.

The food service is part of CalAIM, Newsom's multibillion-dollar Medi-Cal reform package. Signed into law in 2021, CalAIM directs Medicaid dollars to social programs like transitional rent payments and housing deposits. Newsom called it a "once-in-a-generation opportunity to completely transform the Medicaid system in California."

The transformation is working. The most popular of CalAIM's "Community Supports," by far, is "medically tailored meals." That program and a related offering send prepared meals or "tailored" grocery items to qualified Medi-Cal recipients' homes.

The state makes eligibility easy. Applicants need a qualifying Medi-Cal card, a provider's recommendation, and an eligible condition. In a 2024 presentation to a Los Angeles nonprofit, Andrew Barrier, a former executive of a California medically tailored food contractor, told his audience how easy it was to enroll.

"They're not looking to push people away from the program, they're really looking for people to be on it," he said. "Step one is that chronic condition. This is really how most people come in, and they could have diabetes, pre-diabetes, cardiovascular, mental- and behavioral-health disorders--we've seen anxiety, PTSD, depression, ADHD. Again, the list is very, very long."

From there, the food shows up at recipients' doorsteps. Medi-Cal pays contractors to deliver the food for up to 12 weeks, after which eligible recipients can re-enroll. And it's not cheap: across 24 weeks, between food and delivery, a single "medically tailored meals" recipient costs taxpayers more than $1,500.

Here's the Corrupt Karen who signed off on fake billing for fake patients suffering from fake autism and even warned her co-conspirators that they had to CALM DOWN on the truly massive fraud or else "the feds will come in."

Autism became "not a dull, obedient, ordinary child who does well in school" rather than a mental illness. Any child who is slightly different than their baseline lab model? Austistic or ADHD! That boy who gets bored in school? ADHD! That girl who doesn't break down crying when teased? Autistic!

There are levels to everything. Some autistic people are basically non-functional. They can't take care of themselves. I would concede that there is a spectrum of people/behaviors/disabilities that could be called autism, and that is just normal animal trait variability. But it is very narrow to the point of being essentially a bright line, as we once knew it to be - you are, or you aren't.

The abuse of the spectrum idea is purely financially motivated and leads to widespread child abuse or neglect of a child's actual needs (such as "fresh air," exercise, being forced from one's comfort zone, etc.).

They will tell you what Trump did was a privacy violation.

That's an oversimplification. A lot of the traits that make a good engineer are because of autism. Over-fixation on details. Extreme interest in things over people. Extreme retention of technical information.

Talking with an engineer who can recall all the details how a barely used function works based on their cursory review of it three years ago will lead you to quickly realize they're not like other people.

Yeah he sounded and acted like most dads out there. Busting their ass at a job that feels demeaning, doesn't ever seem to earn enough, and keeps you from your family, and now he has to put up with THIS?

Inside, she found carrots, heads of broccoli, apples, oranges, celery, rice, lettuce, and more.

You know what? Putting aside the dubious need and questionable funding of this all... That's the kind of stuff I want sent out for the poor. Here's raw materials, here's fruit and healthy stuff.

237 >> oundabout explanations are often needed to explain things that are intuitive to most.

Depending on specifics, we used to call this learning disabled. Which goes back to the point they’ve vastly over expanded the definition and diagnosis of who is actually autistic. It’s moved well away from a clinical definition and more neatly into one that meets certain legislative and ultimately benefits driven definitions. That encompasses much more than a clinical diagnosis which at one time was directly tied to the physical genesis of autism itself. Notwithstanding that a direct cause for most autism has not been discovered, that allows the continued expansion of what falls into this category. If you go back to the earlier days of autism and look at the clinical definition it’s easy to see why it has grown over the years. I would argue it’s mostly what they include in that category under an ever expanding definition, and the growth of benefits provided for it.

The predominance of kids having real issues with attention and focus or reading social cues or whatever have been less than probably 1%, and many of those are a result of neglect or medicating their kids instead of parenting.

The people I know who do have genuinely weird or asocial kids who could be considered "on spectrum" are not actually medicated, and the parents do all they can to expose them to social situations, encourage social interaction in Scouts and home school group, and bust their asses to make sure that they can experience normal human relations.

Obviously a thousand wheels turning here, but the main drivers are state and federal mis-regulation and captured regulation, and oligopoly or even de facto cartel situations at all levels both on the medical and financial sides of the picture.

And things were made much worse, every flaw and rent-seeking outrage was compounded, by "reform" in 2013. To its almost puzzling credit, the electorate fought against it (including the greatest partisan bloodbath in modern history, 2010). But the inertia and lack of an opposition party prevailed. So a sector that should be about 10% of the economy (even with the aging demo) instead is .... 3 to 4 times that.

I'm thinking probably canned, if only because I find it hard to believe that a bureaucracy could be efficient enough to deliver fresh salmon before it goes bad.

Canned pinks are currently going for a little more than the crap tier ground beef at the local Walmart. The good ground beef is quite a bit more.

Most Alaskans consider pinks just marginally edible even when fresh. They're the next step above chum salmon, which the marketroids have been foisting off on Lower 48ers who don't know any better as "keta" or "silverbrite".

273 Most Alaskans consider pinks just marginally edible even when fresh. They're the next step above chum salmon, which the marketroids have been foisting off on Lower 48ers who don't know any better as "keta" or "silverbrite".

274 Cisco's President Jeetu Patel (I'm not making that up) is trying an interesting experiment. Can a two man engineering team with unlimited AI tokens refactor Cisco's code?

http://tiny.cc/gtwc101

It's probably doomed to failure. But what if it doesn't fail? Cisco's code is infamously hard to update. It would be good to have a more flexible, modern code base.

I see lots of people saying the new code won't be tested or is un-testable. That's silly. You have the old code. Cisco has a bazillion unit tests and extensive test suites. They can run those tests against both and compare results. You can fuzz test against both and compare results. There are lots of ways to ensure parity.

276 That description fits the perfect description for model citizen in the DSA's reformulation of the former United States.

One of the more amusing things to do is ask a young person who prefers socialism to define socialism. They either disappear, give up quickly, or get very angry and accuse you of being a bot. They almost never even get close.

Mostly they think socialism is "I won't have to work and can play video games all day as food is delivered to my free apartment"

291 "75% of every dollar spent on healthcare in this country is stolen, fraudulent, clearly unnecessary, or otherwise just flushed down the toilet.

Total healthcare spending could be cut in 24 hours to 25% of what it is right now, and not one actual human with any real sickness or need of care will be affected. Not a one.

Posted by: Elric The Blade "

A good start would be the end of most health insurance and govt. programs as it now structured and go to fee-for-services. End that and prices would drop 50% overnight. They would then drop 50% again over the next year or so as demand and prices came into line and there would be no need for most insurance

Health insurance should only be for truly catastrophic events. It has completely distorted by the entire price/demand system.

You mean silvers. :-)

For those in non-PNW areas, every species of salmon but pink and chum has a different name in Washington State than it does in most of Alaska. Parts of extreme SE Alaska use the Washington names. I think British Columbia also uses the Washington names.

Washington/Alaska
Chinook/king
Sockeye/red
Coho/silver
Pink/pink

Chums are also known as "dog salmon", but I don't think those names are as highly localized. I've heard both in both places.

Why the names are different, I don't know, but there's always good natured "correcting" going on whenever someone uses the "wrong" name.

293 81 >>That was the scam of calling it a spectrum, rather than a proper diagnosis.

Yeah that was the first sign of a scam. I will buy that there is a range of human behavior and emotional response, we all learn that by the age of 5. What I won't buy is that there isn't a bright line between normal range of human behavior and mental illness.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at October 30, 2026 12:32 PM (TMNW7)

IANAMHP, but my understanding is that the only "bright line" is whether someone is unable to perform a normal function, like initiating a romantic relationship or maintaining gainful employment. Otherwise, the difference between a disorder (you have it or you don't) and a trait (on a 100-point scale) is not as big as it seems, since diagnosing a disorder involves counting up the number of 'tells'.

Without that singular objective measure, the diagnostic criteria for a disorder is hiding a spectrum by using a threshold to collapse it into a step function. And even so, you can speak intelligibly of sub-clinical "shadow syndromes" that mimic the real deal, but without the crippling disability.

But I think this is because the field is post-Christian and PoMo, so ungrounded.

295 249 Former NBA star Paul Pierce is on the verge of bankruptcy, having squandered over $200m in earnings during his NBA career

Back before they turned into The View for sports bros, ESPN did a good documentary on how athletes end up bankrupt despite being paid so much.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at October 30, 2026 01:04 PM (TMNW7)

More than a few of those extremely high-paid but now bankrupt athletes went bankrupt because one of their highly-trusted relatives, often an uncle, acted as their agent and robbed them blind.

For me one of the saddest parts of too many of these athlete rags-to-riches-to-rags stories is the end result of the lavish homes they bought for their Moms. Even if the athlete paid cash up-front for the property rather than paying the mortgage payments. The athletes don't always fund a trust fund to pay the property taxes and upkeep costs on the property, or didn't fund it enough to keep-up with inflation and the inevitable property tax increases. In those cases, eventually Mom and all the relatives who moved-in to take advantage of free housing with Athletes Mom get thrown out after the athlete goes bust.

296 >> Total healthcare spending could be cut in 24 hours to 25% of what it is right now, and not one actual human with any real sickness or need of care will be affected. Not a one.

Look at the growth of healthcare administration. Just like the growth of administration in schools, it has very little purpose as comprised and adds significant cost. Then take a deeper look at some of the healthcare positions that are unionized. You’ll notice they too have been expanded, with much of it due to contractual concessions.

I really hope so. Some news channel posted on YouTube a panel of "experts" and had this lawyer on that was all "Scott is cooked!" And the others on the panel were practically clapping over it, and all the comments on the vid were joyful that Scott would lose and probably lose his show and spot in CNN and be forced to stop telling his "lies."

Hope the piker gets his butt handed to him. But I didn't see the details of the video Scott posted, and why or why not it might be doctored.

Good tell for infotainment is when a lawyer is practicing on tv rather than in a court room. Nancy Grace comes to mind and she nearly got disbarred for misconduct as a prosecutor before becoming a fake and gay legal commentator.
