Oh My Word: There's Another Form of Rampant Immigration Fraud That No One Could Possibly Have Imagined

I'm dumbstruck.

The American government issues "U-Visas" to foreigners who are witnesses to crimes and who assist law enforcement in finding the criminals.

So immigration fraudsters have been setting up entirely fake-armed robberies, with visa-seeking illegal aliens paying $5,000 to $30,000 to "witness," so that they can then apply for a U-Visa after assisting law enforcement.

This is unbelievable.

I couldn't even have imagined this kind of crime.

Bucktown clerk was shot during staged robbery tied to nationwide immigration fraud scheme

A suburban Chicago man who organized hundreds of fake armed robberies to help people fraudulently obtain U.S. immigration visas has been sentenced to two years in federal prison. But one of the staged holdups took a horrible turn at a Bucktown liquor store when a purported robber accidentally shot a store clerk in the abdomen, critically injuring him, according to police reports.
Parth Nayi, 29, of Woodridge, organized and participated in the robberies from 2022 through 2024 at coffee shops, restaurants, liquor stores, and gas stations across the country, including in Chicago and its suburbs, federal prosecutors said.

Nayi recruited people to pose as robbery victims, paid store owners to use their businesses, coordinated and paid the people acting as robbers, and coached the purported victims through the scheme. Participants paid him between $5,000 and $30,000 each for the privilege of being "robbed," hoping to obtain U-visas, which are available to eligible victims of certain crimes who assist law enforcement. Upon making payment, the "victims" were told to be at a certain business at a certain date and time, officials said. The "robbery crew" arrived shortly thereafter.
The purported victims then sought certification from local law enforcement agencies confirming that they had been victims of qualifying crimes and had helped with investigations. After obtaining the certifications, the purported victims submitted fraudulent U-visa applications to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, prosecutors said.

Read the whole thing. There are foreign cultures which actually valorize scamming and grifting, especially of those outside their tribe, whom they consider justifiable targets for scamming and fraud.

As Karol Markowicz comments: Americans are -- or were -- a high-trust society that just doesn't consider that some people build their lives over cheating and scamming strangers.

We need to stop immigration almost entirely. Enough is enough.

It's genuinely sad that Americans don't get to be their trusting, helpful, selves because people like this take advantage. The system allowed for a benefit for victims of crimes only for people to fake being victims of crime.

My take is this guy was mostly scamming the illegals looking to scam the USCIS. The U-Visa has fairly strict requirements, including only certain types of crimes (most of which are sex or "body" crimes like rape, sex trafficking, etc). Armed robbery isn't on that list.

You also have to suffer real injury and provide real assistance to the police and prosecutors. How can you do this when the crime was faked? The prosecutor has to approve the U-visa application, and then USCIS reviews it.

It's totally possible that a crooked or woke prosecutor was just signing these things willy-nilly and someone at USCIS was doing the same.

But I think more likely, this guy's main play was enticing illegals to give him piles of money to set up this scam, and then deliver nothing. So sad.

I've mentioned this a few times, but the lobbying and legislative efforts to get to the 1924 immigration act took about 40 years until the law actually passed under Coolidge.

There were signs of immigration being a massive issues in the 1840s. It accelerated over the years, in particular during the Civil War and the early 1900s, with immigrants forming insular ethnic conclaves that refused to assimilate to wider American culture.

If we don't get immigration reform in the next couple of years, that won't 'mean that the effort can't come back. It takes a lot of time and a lot of destruction to get the populace and, more importantly, the elected officials on board with cutting immigration down to effectively nothing.

There is no provision in the law concerning immigration to put this before a judge. That's what the SCOTUS have been telling these judges that think they have something to say. The courts have no role.

It is the executive role to handle illegal immigration and border incursion.

They were trying to find someone with info about these racist murders, when a few illegals stepped up and gave some information and claimed these visas. Oh what heroes they were, the newspapers and TV news wouldn't show their face because they could be put in danger - until it was found that the people who got visas did the murders to get the visas. Of course then they were forgotten about by the media because you dont want to turn in a democrat cause.

But we need to do it for at least one generational cycle or two, to stabilize the middle class cultural norms of our currently society that is being lost. Self starters, high trust, entrepreneurial, risk taking, optimistic, and high integrity.

Yep. Very common scam in the Philippines. Normally it's more organized. They do it with other "relatives" around. After you stop, a dozen or more, "relatives" will surround you, screaming for a payout.

The cops in the Philippines are at least as crooked as the cops in Mexico. They'd stop you for nothing and expect a bribe.

My Dad's motorcycle was stolen from on base. They lifted the bike right over the nine foot wall. US investigators found the bike, but the new owner was politically connected, so nothing happened.

Our house on base was broken into when we were in the house. My parents woke up and yelled at them to get out. They didn't care. My mom leaned out the window and blew a whistle. The Filipino guards used whistles, and they had no problem shooting thieves. That put a fire under their butts and they left quickly.

Only complaint, and it's generic one. Hard to use them in the dark. All porta-potties should be equipped with el-cheapo solar-powered motion lights. Open the door, the light goes on, and remains on for 3 minutes. If the light goes out while the band is still playing, wave a hand in the air to restart it.
