Interesting painting. The soldiers in the background point toward a WW I date but the civilian refugees cold be from any time period. There is a feel of a Biblical event in the way are dressed. Perhaps it's a statement about the cost of war. The soldiers are exhausted. The people are just figures, undistinguished, almost cloned, and carrying whatever they could gather quickly. They are trudging one way as the army moves the other, presumably toward battle. The ruined house is lit as if by flames. The colors Eby used are dull except for the scarf on the old man leading the refugees. He is the only one not bowed. Perhaps he has been through this before. He reminds me of Moses leading the slaves out of Egypt.
Not a happy, patriotic theme but in keeping with much of the poetry that came out of that war, lamenting the waste and loss. With all the recent talk from our government of in Europe about prepping for difficulties, natural or manmade, today's art selection seems appropriate. Biff Pocoroba, the whole album was shit (except marginally Sync' II), mainly because nobody in the band wanted to work with the others.
The story I heard about EBYT was that they all got in a typical brawl about which track to put up front. 50 dead in a train crash (not in India)? Wow.
Posted by: Dark Lixtiquatal On Wednesday morning, two high-speed trains run by separate companies (Iryo and Renfe) crashed outside Toledo, Spain, the historic city known for its legendary steel. Over 500 people were packed onto the two trains. As of 9:30 a.m. EST, the death toll stood at 64, and this number seems to still be rising. More details from The U.S. Sun: According to officials, one high-speed train collided with the rear of another service that had stopped on the line. The high-speed impact knocked two carriages of the stationary train off the rails. The accident involved a train from Spain‘s state-owned RENFE company and the Italian-owned private rail company, IRYO. It appeared the RENFE train rammed the IRYO train, Spanish media reported. I'm working on my projects and just came across a painting called Madame X.
John Singer Sargent (American, 1856–1925). Madame X (Madame Pierre Gautreau) (detail), 1883–84. Oil on canvas; 82 1/8 x 43 1/4 in. (208.6 x 109.9 cm). The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Arthur Hoppock Hearn Fund, 1916 (16.53) Throughout his early years in Paris, Sargent built his reputation by convincing friends and notable members of fashionable society to pose for him and then exhibiting these works at the Paris Salon. This is the case with Madame X, his most famous portrait. She was Virginie Avegno Gautreau (1859–1915), an expatriate from Louisiana who was married to a French banker. She was a familiar figure in Parisian society, known for her artful appearance, which she accentuated with dramatic cosmetics and clothing. The ambitious young Sargent was fascinated by her and undertook the portrait without a commission, hoping to enhance his reputation. Of course, the painting was a scandalous success at the Paris Salon in 1884. Viewers and critics found the portrait offensive, ugly, and eccentric, and Gautreau and her mother begged Sargent to remove the painting from the exhibition. Neat. Oh, and I remind:
Dems used to have some 100k fake votes in Harris; every race no matter how small seemed to be won by 100k or more. But no less. Abbott and Paxton have been cracking down of election fraud. And the Rs are running candidates in every race this year in Harris. And the Supreme Court says even losing candidates have standing to challenge elections. I believe they used that as a leaning experience. They are also actively trying to hide their activities based on DoJ actions and plans to monitor the election process in certain districts. I sense there will be a lot of questionable activity, especially where seats are competitive. I have zero confidence, based on the past, that courts will grant any relief, or that relief will be too little too late. The courts have become compromised leftist cesspools. I hope I am wrong btw. Ironically the one time the cheat machine went somewhat dormant was 2016. They were so confident they’d win in a blowout there was no urgency. Detroit and Philly still did their 102% turnout thing but it wasn’t a massive national cheat machine operation. In 2020 they corrected course and went all out.

Irish authorities have raised concerns about the possible trafficking of 22 Somali children who arrived in Ireland unaccompanied, highlighting growing scrutiny of the risks facing vulnerable young migrants entering the country.
The Irish Examiner, reporting on October 20, cited figures from Tusla, Ireland’s Child and Family Agency, which notified An Garda Síochána, the national police service, of concerns about the potential trafficking of 35 children during the year. Somalis accounted for 22 of those cases, the largest national group identified in the notifications. The figures indicate concerns about possible trafficking, not confirmation that every child was trafficked. Posted by: SMOD at October 28, 2026 11:00 AM (RHGPo) 313

Tusla has expressed deep regret over its inability to fulfill its statutory obligation in providing "timely access" to special care for some young people subject to a High Court order.
Tusla sought an order for a 14-year-old girl that gardaí believed was being subjected to "horrifying" sexual exploitation by multiple men, according to The Irish Times. Tusla was seeking a special-care order for the girl, but told the court it was currently unable to provide her with a bed in any of its three special-care units.
