Ohio Democrat Gubernatorial Candidate Is a "Liar" Who "Needs Help" Says... Her Mom in Campaign Attack Ad

Amy Acton is, reportedly, Kamalaesque in her passion for self-medication.

Kentucky Girl
@Kentuckygirl1

This is Dr. Amy Acton, the Democrat candidate for Governor.

In 2019, there was a police visit to her home after she and her husband apparently got into a drunken domestic dispute.

According to the police record, after drinking and taking an unknown amount of medication, she allegedly pulled a mirror off the wall, and was about to start driving until her husband talked her out of it.

A medic was dispatched to the scene and advised that Acton be taken to the hospital to get checked out, but she declined.

At the time, she was the director of the Ohio Department of Health.

This is not a person who should be leading anything, except maybe an AA meeting.

I got that from Beege Wellborn, who has a good backgrounder on Amy Acton, including her history of inventing dramatic but false claims of assault that rival Jussie Smollet's.

But why would her own mother call her a liar in a campaign ad? Why would her own mother none-too-subtly imply that she is mentally sick and needs to spend time at a sanitarium rather than the governor's mansion?

Well, it's all odd. Amy Acton says that her step-father raped her at age 12 and that her mother "enabled" it.

Her mother Amy Acton is a fabulist.

A jarring new ad in the Ohio governor's race features Democrat Amy Acton's birth mother denouncing her and calling her a liar -- but Acton says her mom enabled and supported the man who raped her when she was just 12 years old.

Acton's campaign is now accusing her GOP opponent Vivek Ramaswamy of reaching a "despicable low" in the race by dredging up her painful past as a child sex abuse survivor.

In the shocking video, Donna Arthur accused Acton of embellishing her accusations about being sexually abused as a child.

"I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent--and it's not easy for a mother to say this -- but Amy has a serious problem. She is a liar. She lies about her past," Arthur said in the stunning video clip.

"She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true," Arthur went on. "She's lied her entire life. My daughter needs help, and she can't help you if she needs help herself. People can change, but first they have to tell the truth, and my daughter still isn't doing that."

"Don't vote for people who lie. Don't let her become your governor. If you think she'll make your life better, you're fooling yourself. It will only get worse."

Acton's camp immediately hit out at Ramaswamy -- a tech exec and 2024 presidential candidate -- after the video surfaced online Tuesday, but it was not clear who was sponsoring the spot.

Ramaswamy's campaign didn't immediately comment Tuesday.

...

"After he was arrested and Amy and I were removed from their custody, our birth mother stayed married to Amy's rapist until he died," he added.

...

Acton currently has a 3.7 percentage point edge over Ramaswamy in the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate of polls -- despite Ohio being deep red since 2016. The state gave President Trump 53% of the vote in 2020 and 55% in 2024.

The Ramaswamy-Acton race has been one of the nation's nastiest this year -- with rampant mudslinging and deeply personal attacks from both sides.

Ramaswamy's allies have sought to paint Acton as unstable and insinuate that she has an issue with alcohol. For her part, Acton has called Ramaswamy a "serial liar" and a "scam artist," refusing to debate him. Her allies have also attacked him over his business affairs.

Rumors had swirled for some time that Ramaswamy's allies were planning to spotlight Arthur, according to lefty Ohio political site The Rooster.

Acton, who helmed the Ohio Department of Health from 2019 through 2020, has been open about her harsh upbringing, making it part of her political origin story.

If Ramaswamey did drop this ad, then it seems likely that he believes he is in fact behind the latest Democrat alcoholic wine-mom, because this is a high-risk move he wouldn't chance if he thought he was ahead.

So, Ohio Morons, vote.

As for the claims of abuse: I obviously don't know if they're true or not. I just read about this five minutes ago.

Her claim that an "armed man" came after her at a campaign event -- which didn't happen -- suggest she might have a histrionic personality disorder and that she might confabulate threats and assaults for attention.

Or she could be a legitimate rape victim who engages in the Democrats' favorite past-time of faking victim status. I don't know.

I do know I would not want to entrust the machinery of the state to this covid Karen who seems to have a substance abuse problem and allegedly poor mental healthy.

That would require a law passed by the state legislature, which is doubtful in Ohio.

Though, she could do things like...try to unilaterally change regulations on things like mail in voting to make them less secure. Since, I'm told, the SAVE Act was the greatest failing of the current US Congress, ceding ground in a red state to a Democrat who would undermine election security would surely be a terrible thing, right?

113 Acton currently has a 3.7 percentage point edge over Ramaswamy in the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate of polls -- despite Ohio being deep red since 2016. The state gave President Trump 53% of the vote in 2020 and 55% in 2024.

According to RCP, Harris won the popular vote in 2024.

And it appears there are likely to be some big modeling problems in their samples. Ace has already showed that Michigan's early voting is even redder than in 2024. Not sure about Ohio, but there seems to be much more Republican engagement in this election than you find in a normal midterm, likely because Trump made it about the Save Act.

I suspect that is an emotional reaction. I bet if you thought about it for a little bit, you could definitely come up with some examples of people who do deserve to be publicly destroyed by their own mother. Perhaps a son who kills his whole family, but Mom survives because she wasn't home. Don't be so quick to judge what is and is not deserved. Things happen for a reason. Amy Acton signed on for this when she decided to run. She knew what was in her closet. My gut says the whole family is whack. I don't think that qualifies her to be governor. I am not a Vivek person but he's stable. The political commercials running in OHio this time around are freaking vicious. Have been for the last six weeks. My baby brother is the same way, he is incapable of being truthful even when the truth would better suit his needs. He makes up fantastic stories that are completely 100% false but he expects everyone around him to believe them.

He once claimed that he was kidnapped by the neighbors and held captive for four days when he was 8 years old. They forced him to make them breakfast for them every day until my sister came and rescued him from their garage. I asked him why none of the rest of us, including his mother noticed he was missing for four days. He still insisted that he was kidnapped.

It's a mental illness.

Vivek won the primary by like 60 points.

I think the normal voters in Ohio are far less worried about Vivek than online.

It reminds me of the people insisting that Massie was going to win his primary because he was totally on board with online narratives.

Ohio is so deep red that even if Vivek loses a solid chunk of Republicans, the senate race will get him over the line by increasing the number of low turnout Republicans voting in 2026.

170 She sounds like a perfect Dim candidate to me!

Sometimes liars tell the truth. Sometimes they are malignant narcissists with BPD (documented) who lie, and/or their lies become their truth as they are vindictive and want to hurt others. This sounds like Dim word salad, but I know someone who did this.

I knew her for 42yrs. Successful attorney except in her pick for 2 marriages. Then she decided to work for corruption, leading to a career end.

At some point she said a friend of ours had been a sex abuse victim from her father, that she remembered as an adult. (I'm not saying this is impossible).

Then the story changed to her own family that HER father abused her. Her parents & sisters said no way. I was around her father all of my childhood through college and he never touched me or was inappropriate. She never mentioned this to me in all those years

However, she then abused her parents mentally, alienated all of her siblings and me, her best friend. I finally had enough and stopped the toxic friendship 20yrs ago.

Again, her lies became real to her about other things, and therefore her lie about her own father was treated the same way.

She also was an alcoholic and druggie.

You are an elected official. You made a public statement encouraging members of the Armed Forces to defy lawful orders.

You chose to run for office and subject yourself to that scrutiny.

What you are proposing, on the other hand, is a legal/political vendetta against persons for no reason other than they have political positions different than yours. Your goal is to drive them away from public service.

That's a Stanlist/Maoist approach to political opposition -- your clearly stated desire is to create a one-party state where political opposition is not just to be rebutted, but to be imprisoned.

You're a disgrace -- and I suspect your comments will haunt the rest of your political career. You've likely put a ceiling on any ability you might have had to climb higher.

This isn't my first rodeo with President Trump. After calling for me to be arrested, tried, and hanged for a 90 second video he didn't like, he is now attacking me for saying that there will be accountability for people who commit crimes on his behalf.

It's not stealing if you get away with it.
It's not perjury if you get away with it.
It's not murder if you get away with it.
It's not treason...

309 Ohio might spend a lot of resources to get some big embezzler who fled to PA, but might not spend as much to drag back some loser [accused] pedo with no money and a wife who keeps saying he dindu nuffin.
The effort taken seems to have been more than token. But it also wasn't to the extent of hiring bounty hunters.
==
What are you smoking? They don't hire bounty hunters. The guys name goes into the national leads computer. He gets a ticket he gets popped by the locals. They transport him to Ohio and turn him over. I think child rape is a tier I classification. Its not like he got caught stealing a library book.

310 >>Vivek might not be conservative but he's better than DeWine, Kasich...

It's pretty simple. The primaries are when you try to get your candidate nominated. The general is when you vote against the communist if you didn't.

Everything else is just noise.

314 This was the 1980s. The "internet" then, for state governments, was email at best.
It wasn't then impossible for Ohio to raise a stink that Pennsylvania was harboring fugitives but it would require effort. If Ohio was lazy and PA was lazy, fugitives could get away with it.

Breaking News: With 5 seconds left before the polls close in Michigan, we have received a massive ballot drop with 100% voting Abdul el-Sayd.

CNN is calling MI Senate for Abdul el-Sayd with 50.00000002 % of the vote.

How about... noooo.
Despite what late 1980s / 1990s movies told you, early 1980s state governments didn't have those cute little "image... ENHANCE!!" apps on their green-and-black CRT monitors. Their software, which did exist, was shite.
They did have phones and email which I noted. Word processing computers - dedicated to that purpose, of producing paperwork, to be printed on dot matrix printers.
Actually getting shit done took manual effort. Michael Milken? They're on it. Loser being accused by one party in the family and defended by another? Refer to the "Top. Men." scene.

Vivek, who is of a culture where women are never believed, did the cultural thing. He made the mistake of doing that cultural thing when there was in fact at least one man (Acton's brother) willing to stand up for his sister.
