There are two ways of looking at the midterms, now less than three weeks away. One is as a simple referendum on the issues and politicians of the day. The other involves a far deeper conflict of visions (as Thomas Sowell puts it): socialism versus capitalism, intrusive versus limited government, and the destruction of time-honored institutions and traditions versus their preservation and renewal. Rarely in American history have the two parties been so far apart or the choice between them so stark. In brief, Islamist-sympathizing socialism is on the ballot against free-market capitalism and American exceptionalism. The new Islamist-allied socialist Democrat Party is confident, largely because the party holding the White House has increased its share of House seats in a midterm election only three times since 1900. Each of those exceptions arose under unusual circumstances. . . . . .Are they demonizing the majority of the American people in the manner of Zohran Mamdani’s housing czar, Cea Weaver, who declared that homeownership is “a weapon of white supremacy”? Or like Melat Kiros, who argues that “We were never really going to be able to tackle white supremacy in the way that we need to without reparations”? Could anyone imagine Republican or conservative candidates apologizing for terrorism in the manner of marquee Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who responded to a cowardly Islamist attack on a synagogue with “Hurt people do hurt people”? In short, treat this midterm election as the deep choice that it is.That is just a taste, and a very bitter one (like bitter almonds IYKWIMAITYD) from our esteemed friend Prof. Victor Davis Hanson who goes into much more disturbing detail of just what's at stake two weeks from now. And the equally eloquent and cromulent Glenn H Reynolds goes off on this harridan Elissa Slotkin. Democrats speak with forked tongue. On Sunday, former President Barack Obama denounced the Trump administration’s investigation of Rep. Ilhan Omar for immigration fraud as un-American. In America, we don’t go after our political opponents, he said. This from the man who sent his Internal Revenue Service after Tea Party protesters, and whose running mate, after he became president, treated traditional Catholics, COVID-vaccine skeptics and parents who spoke out at school board meetings as potential terrorists. Not to mention raiding Donald Trump’s home and sending FBI agents to rifle through Melania’s underwear. . . . . . Biden’s team went after COVID-vaccine skeptics and critics of trans policy. Slotkin just wants to scare young people away from being conservatives. The goal seems to be something like Britain — a society where disagreeing with the government on social media gets you a visit from police, and possibly a jail term, just for stating a contrary opinion. As The Post’s Karol Markowitz put it, “They told me the US was heading toward fascism and they were right.” Ironically, Slotkin is an alumna of the Central Intelligence Agency, where the motto “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free” is carved into the wall. It is a core American belief that you don’t learn the truth through censorship and intimidation. You learn the truth through free and open debate and competition in the marketplace of ideas. One would think a CIA alumna would understand, and support, these American principles. Instead she’s talking like a thug.Well this is the same CIA that somehow hired John Brennan, a Gus Hall-Angela Davis voting communist who not surprisingly became Obama's CIA chief and who no or shockingly few Republicans opposed (or am I misremembering?). Reynolds continues... But Slotkin represents the kind of thinking that is bringing America closer to civil disorder, if not outright civil war. For over two centuries, America managed to engage in a peaceful transfer of power without the outgoing parties having to protect themselves against political prosecutions by the incoming party. The other way is dangerous. . . the increasing politicization of the justice system and the creation of what were fundamentally political crimes and prosecutions. We warned this practice would destroy faith in both the political and the justice system. Things have only gotten worse since. Sen. Slotkin’s speech amplifies the problem. Treating political opposition as a crime is wrong. It’s unAmerican. And it’s dangerous.Well, that's strong language, especially from someone I respect, but that brings me to someone that I'm not so confident in nor respectful of to say the least who had this to say... Marsha Blackburn: The Radical Left Wants Tennessee. They’ll Have To Go Through Me.. .Socialism stops at the Tennessee line. While Blackburn yammers on about voting, the question was and is at what point will voting simply not matter? whether the Democrats do as they've always done by stealing elections or as we see in France and as we saw here in 2020 as well as several other times in our recent past riot and burn cities to the ground, on top of outright assassinating their political enemies? When what Slotkin and her ilk are hot and horny for fails, then violence is their only option? And so, Marsha Blackburn and all of us the question is "How many divisions do they and more crucially WE have?! I'd like to end on a more humorous note as commenter Spamf Roming noted my reference to the classic movie "Casablanca" was totally wrong: Bogey didn't kiss Elsa at the station. She sent a note and stood him up. He didn't kiss her at the airport, but sent her off with her husband. Considering I must've seen the flick at least a couple dozen or more times and studied it as a screenwriter, that is an embarrassing error. My only defense is I must've been channeling something else that riffed off of that scene. On that note I bid you all to, despite the above and all the rest of the news, have a good day. And please vote early and often!!!

I view it this way: from a legislative standpoint, we are living through a straight-up note for note cover of 2017-2021. Which means these midterms are of no importance whatsoever - all that changes with a Democrat win is more stupid impeachment theater, and perhaps some vetos. The GOP flatly refuses to move Trump's agenda, and he'll have to govern by executive order with "either" Party running committees.

Ironically, Slotkin is an alumna of the Central Intelligence Agency, where the motto “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free” is carved into the wall.
Double irony: The motto which they looted from John 8:32 in the KJV. They have hijacked and perverted the words of Jesus Christ by changing "truth" to mean "contemporary politically expedient narrative". Which is especially ironic because the audience of that time also thought "freedom" was social and political liberty, and "truth" was simply facts and secret information. Jesus explicitly dealt with that misconception because He meant "truth" as the identity of Jesus, the reality of mankind's condition and God's Holy revelation. Freedom is breaking the bondage of sin and spiritual blindness. The CIA, like Satan, has twisted those words so that "truth" = "lies" and "freedom" = "tyranny". Re: Alberta. The vote was to start the process that would end with another vote in a couple years to actually separate. Yes got 25%, give or take a percentage point when all the counting is done. I am not surprised.
To be honest, as much as people here and on other sites think Alberta is a bastion of conservatism, people like our Alberta Oil Peon are a shrinking minority. Most "conservatives" would be at best moderate Republicans. If Alberta became a state, you'd see Democrats being elected to Congress. And 84% of Albertans get some form of government payouts. As well, lots of immigration and the majority of the population lives in Edmonton (government/university town) and Calgary and their suburbs. Speaking of immigration, there were 10 ballot questions, 9 of which were non-binding but were essentially a referendum on various subjects relating to Alberta's relationship with Canada. What's been made clear by those is that there is a big interest in having a say on which immigrants are allowed to come to Alberta, which new residents should immediately qualify for social assistance vs. those who should wait, and strengthening Alberta's ability to govern itself. News Flash: The budget has always grown, even under Trump. Even including the special TARP, Covid Spending Sweepstakes and Inflation Reduction Act, Trump's budgets blow those away in spending. Even after DOGE. Trump spends YUUUGE money, regardless of Party in the Legislative branch. So discard the idea that the vote going one way or the other this Election Season has any bearing on spending. For example if Screwtape were to somehow overcome Paxton, then Screwtape could blue slip any Trump appointed judge in Texas so the people of Texas would suffer on shit judges who get their judicial inspiration from demons. It will be impeachment theater. It will be obstacles at every measure. It will be ludicrous spending bills and over-the-top fucked up regulations and sanctions against Israel. Supposed to be a competitor with YouTube? Its all about the money. Go see if you can monetize a gun video series or talk negatively about some sacred cow of the Left. Rather YouTube will still run the ads but keep the profits to themselves and steal your content for their own gain. Rumble is a different content monetizing model. Any reasonable chance the vote in Alberta was rigged non-blatantly? Probably still at the 'more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable' phase, but I do wonder these days any time a vote benefits socialists. They don't only cheat 'just enough to tip the scales when it's close'.

That would be women in general. As a visual aid in understanding watch any one of those videos where some woman is swatting, poking, hitting, screaming at some guy and some point he gets tired of her shit, hauls off and decks her. Pay particular attention to the surprised look on her face as she gets immediate education in the Tyson Principle. That is how women are, they aren't wired like men to deal with a violent world; they have lived under the Women Are Wonderful social protective shield and feel like they will never experience the violent consequences of their bullshit. There are Rabbis who consider Eve eating the forbidden fruit and speculate that she likened Adam as the favorite son of a powerful, wealthy oligarch and Adam was the forever recipient of his father's benevolence and never would have to work or be challenged—that was Adam in the Garden. So the Serpent gave her plan to test and see if Adam could stand on his own two feet and be his own man, so she ate the fruit and made sure he did to so that God would cast them out of the Garden and Adam could prove that he is the man that Eve could respect. Notice that part of the curse is that women will not respect their husbands. Main Take Away: Women will do stupid and evil shit just so that they can see what Men will do. There's no need," is quite the take. Demanding that the US not be the hegemon is demanding regional hegemons competing with each other. It's demanding the rise of Carthage against Rome as being preferable to the Pax Romana. It's demanding more warfare worldwide as more players are even in capacity and can choose to fight. The reason we had the Pax Americana was because of our massive military superiority over the rest of the world. "We don't need to be able to project power better than the rest of the world. There's no need," is quite the take.
If the argument was simply "Why do we have a military" full stop, no context and that statement was hermetically sealed in a black bag stored in an under ground bunker, then your argument is sensible. But it was packaged with when the US is one election away from being a Communist shithole or Islamic Caliphate. That eight hundred pound gorilla still needs your attention. What good does projecting military power upon whoever Babylon DC feels a need to flex on, when the hosting nation can't even slay its domestic dragons which are of magnitudes greater threat than what Iran is doing to the SoH? One is as a simple referendum on the issues and politicians of the day. The other involves a far deeper conflict of visions (as Thomas Sowell puts it): socialism versus capitalism, intrusive versus limited government, and the destruction of time-honored institutions and traditions versus their preservation and renewal.
==================== It is far simpler an election than all that for many. IMO, voters are asking themselves if they are better off than they were under Biden. Democrats scare voters, because they are all pretty much insane, but the GOP still has to make a positive case. Posted by: Huck Follywood at October 20, 2026 08:58 AM (sOsrI) 160

Rarely in American history have the two parties been so far apart or the choice between them so stark. In brief, Islamist-sympathizing socialism is on the ballot against free-market capitalism and American exceptionalism.
----- This is the oldest free market system in the world. The UK succumbed to socialism 50 years ago, leaving us as the grand old dame of capitalism. The older & perennially more powerful of the two American parties became rabid socialists right around the same time. For people my age, this is no rarity. Every election of my lifetime has been a battle of leftist authoritarianism against free-market capitalism and American exceptionalism. It's literally all I've ever known. My other prediction is that the 2028 D nominee will not be a woman and definitely won't be Harris.
The operation against women this year appears designed to convince even liberal fucktard women that women can't be trusted in high leadership and/or can't win. It's like they want to get their side pregnant with the idea that a man is required for the next phase. If Harris is the nominee my secondary prediction is that's because the whole thing is sewn up tight and she will be implanted in office. AOC could win a legitimate election against a real opponent - I don't think Harris can. Otherwise if the GE is going to be a genuine contest, they will be nominating a man. My father was from a fishing village in Cork Ireland.
In the early 1600s, the English took over after a three-year siege of the local castle lorded over by a distant ancestor of mine. They installed loyal Protestants to take over all the good concessions including fishing and the occassional opportunistic piracy. My peeps dropped a dime on this, and the Barbary pirates arrived one day and took hundreds of the Protestants away to galleys and brothels. It was the last large operation by the Barbaries in the British Isles. There's a very nice pub in town called the Algiers Inn. Posted by: Ignoramus at October 20, 2026 09:05 AM (dtajH) 182

I don't think so. The problem Democrats have is that for years they have relied on identity politics to keep their various constituencies happy. There was always some friction because not all the groups are simpatico on all positions and the grievance pyramid had to be respected. Bringing in Muslim candidates into a statewide race in a place like Michigan is exposing those fractures. As the Abdul staffer was caught yesterday saying on undercover video, Abdul can't condemn the Muslim Brotherhood because he will lose their support. He also can't pretend that their isn't huge friction between the black and Muslim communities and that is hurting Abdul in places like Detroit. I think Rogers wins and might not even be that close. A symbolic transfer of power to Muslims in France happened a few months ago.
The national soccer team coach was Didier Deschamps This guy embodies everything French. Look at a picture of him and it’s like yeah that dude is as French as one gets. He retired and will be replaced by Zinadine Zidane. Born in France to Algerian parents. He’s probably most famous for head butting an Italian player in the 2006 final and getting ejected. How French is he? His son plays for the Algerian team, that’s how French he is. France’s team is already almost all non-French so not a shocking move. But having the coach now also an Arab is another milestone. Perfect timing as well given the “troubles”. Posted by: Sandy Cocazio Ortez at October 20, 2026 09:14 AM (ek+0M) 206

Establishment like Schumer (and black leaders) backed doughy white girl. More extreme elements backed El-Sayed. Primary is low turnout, so it advantaged the more engaged side. Democrats also don't cast aside primary winners publicly like Mitch did with O'Donnell in Delaware. They, bare minimum, provide rhetorical support to try and normalize them. Reading the Data republican stuff and I realize something.
The insane, baseless lawsuits against Trump were never about stopping Trump--they were about finding a core group of judges who will do anything the left says. Covid, J6 and the prosecution of Trump proved that the vast majority of Republicans will never defy the judiciary no matter how egregious or unlawful they act. That also proved Democrats will support whatever they judiciary does, as long as it advances the left. They weren't burning down the legitimacy of the judiciary with these ever more histrionic and fleck-speckled orders: It was a loyalty test. And now they have 3-5 judges who will do, say, and order anything the left asks, no matter how illegal, unconstitutional or outrageous. And a trigger they can pull anytime on a gun aimed at the heart of America. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at October 20, 2026 09:17 AM (3cUTc) 212

196 Irish Gaelic is a weird language. If you look at Irish surnames in their original Gaelic form, they bear little resemblance to their English form. Apparently, Gaelic spelling does not have much relation to Gaelic pronunciation.

The Democrat Party is not a monolith, and major factions fought over the primary race in MI.
It doesn't have to be a conspiratorial plan hatched years ago. It can just be making the best of a situation they didn't plan for. Since I walk a lot during the day at my job, I should be okay, no? Posted by: dantesed at October 20, 2026 09:17 AM Walking is weight bearing exercise. Is the walking you do of varying speeds? Varying terrains? Can you zig zag to your destination without being hauled into HR for a drug test? Walking for exercise is great. A leisurely walk isn’t going to quite do it for you, but if you can vary you speeds, and even better, add some muscle work into the walk like squats and lunges every 2-3 minutes on a 60 minute walk. Think a set of 10 reps each time. Build up to this if needed, obviously, and vary your squat types. Maybe alternate lunges, reverse lunges, curtsey lunges, etc. Posted by: Piper at October 20, 2026 09:27 AM (ZdaMQ) 247

Democrats own the legal apparatus. They have enough Constitution-hating federal judges who issue Soviet-style secret decisions like those unleashing Smith’s abuses, billions in annual pro-bono work stored up from the world’s biggest law firms, the entire pipeline of law schools and post-school fellowships, and much of the Department of so-called Justice.
The public faces of their legal warfare like Slotkin and Marc Elias have already boldly divulged underway efforts to double down on scorched-earth prosecutions of anyone who ever worked for a Republican once Democrats retake at least the House in two weeks. Based on their history, we know these prosecutions will be entirely political and based on falsified evidence. Cannot recommend the Joy Pullman essay at the Federalist highly enough, on Slutkin's speech at Chicago. Pullman puts it to Thune, that useless pool boy, saying he at the very least needs to censure Slutkin. She also sticks it to the lawfare judges the Democrats have lined up, and by extension, it is a reasonable inference to criticize that fool John Roberts, who refuses to admit the federal judiciary has a serious TDS problem.
