Saturday Night Club ONT - October 24, 2026 [Disco & Dino]

20261017-IMG_20261017_1210093902.jpg

Welcome to Club ONT - a whelming collaboration of The Disco and The Dino.

Open thread - bar is open, too. Come in in, grab a drink or 2. Or 3. Keep it light and friendly. Be careful though. The Moose out front may be jacked up on pumpkin spice.

Saturday Night Jokes and Other Funnies

Three couples marry and stay at the same hotel for their honeymoons, where they are taken care of by Dave the bellboy.

The first man married a nurse. Dave thinks to himself, "Nurses are known to be hot to trot."

The second man married a telephone operator. Dave thinks to himself, "Telephone operators have sexy voices."

The third man married a school teacher. Dave thinks to himself, "Poor guy, teachers are frigid."

The next morning, Dave reports to work and gets a room service call from the nurse's husband. He sourly says, "Don't ever marry a nurse. All I heard last night was 'You're not sanitary! You're not sanitary!'"

Then, the telephone operator's husband calls and sourly says, "Don't ever marry a telephone operator. All I heard last night was 'Your three minutes are up, Your three minutes are up.'"

Later that afternoon, the teacher's husband calls and happily says, "When you marry, be sure to marry a school teacher. All I heard last night was 'We are going to do this over and over until we get right.'"

Scrapple sculptors create meaty masterpieces in Philadelphia

Amateur sculptors descended on a Philadelphia market to create works of art from scrapple - a breakfast mush of pork scraps and organ meat - in an annual contest.

The Reading Terminal Market hosted its third annual Scrapple Sculpting Contest on Thursday, with sculptors competing to see who could form the most appealing masterpiece out of 6 pounds of meat mush in the 90-minute time limit.

The market itself was this year's theme, and the judge's vote went to Toni Lee, who created a scrapple sculpture of market mascot Philbert the pig.

I've eaten, so it's time for ONT, Bible reading and prayers, shower, and bed. In some order. Some might get interleaved.

Supposed to have an interview early next week but... depends on them coordinating on their end. Wish I knew when so I could schedule the other days for subbing.

Looking forward to church tomorrow, for sure. That's one thing I've gotten from this - a church that feels alive, and cares. It's why it would be nice to come out of this with a job that's local or remote.

The enemy arises not from among the people, but from the educated and well-off, those who unite intellectualism and ignorance, and who are helped on their way by a weak worship of force." - Chesterton

74 Back from the concert with Amanda Shaw, the local fiddler/singer, and Gretchen Wilson of "Redneck Woman" fame.

One thing you have to say about a lot of Cajun music, it's fast-paced. Amanda was fun and high-energy, capering about the stage in her little red high-heel boots and short skirt, fiddling away for all she was worth. She told a story about meeting Dolly Parton a couple of years ago, and said Dolly gave her a song. Which Amanda then sang in true Dolly fashion.

Gretchen looked like she was having fun as well. I didn't know any of her songs, including one she said she had done with Merle Haggard, other than her finish, "Redneck Woman." But she and her band hit some rock numbers, and I know there was a snippet of Heart's "Crazy on You" in there.

Bought it. A tool to chuck it up in the drill with a ½” square drive is necessary. Bought it. Hot dang, it’s ready to go. Nope. All the ½” drives around here are SAE and the stupit flywheel nut is metric, 24mm the caliper says. Bought the last one Homely Depot had in stock. Now I’m cookin’. Connected all the parts, chucked them up, put the socket on the nut, pulled the trigger and ...no go.
Nerk – you’re gonna’ need a bigger drill.

Well, there is a coil, right there on top, fed by an "igniter" mounted on the fan shroud, and under the flywheel, there is a pickup coil that puts out a voltage spike in the millivolt range to trigger the igniter. I should be able to meter the pickup, and see if it outputs a signal, and check the primary and secondary resistance of the coil, and see if they are in spec.

I tried a couple of different automobile plugs, no joy. Disconnected the on/off switch, no joy. Internet tells me there is a low oil switch. Engine is full of oil, over-full in fact. Will check that tomorrow. I probably do have another of those little Honda plugs somewhere, too.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at October 24, 2026 10:37 PM (n7Dzq)

Sounds like the last guy discovered it has no spark, so tried a new plug, which didn't fix it. He then learned about about the low oil switch and added a bunch of oil, which also didn't fix it. At that point he gave up and hauled it to the dump, where you found it. Does it have points or a magneto?

We all have faith that you will find the problem and fix it.

ROFL, okay smarty pants. You can make Rhode Island bigger than Texas. Choose a reference frame moving at 0.999998c moving tangent to Texas (we're going so fast we can ignore rotation) at just the right angle. The Erf wil squashed into nearly a flat pancake. Rhode Island, is tilted enough that, it will be more on top of the flat pancake, at that speed, Rhode Island becomes the same area as Texas.

While I did think of Lorentz contraction squashing the earth, I didn't know if you could make it work, so put Grok on it, and yes you can.
