64 I never got why Oslo (or any of the ports) should be the capital of Norway. The spine of the country is one of Europe's most imposing mountain fastnesses. Build a lavish royal complex in the heart of those mountains, somewhere in the South, and militarize the cities and beaches. If they ever have to retreat, they are retreating *toward* the seat of government, in an ever shorter and deeper line.

73 Spring Evening, Akershus Fortress, 1913
Harald Sohlberg

It's very nice with distinct colors that don't melt into each other. I'm not familiar with this artist but I'd certainly consider hanging today's art selection. (I also admit I didn't read the entire title at first glance and took the painting for a fall landscape vs. spring.)
---
Elephant Art, 27 Apr 2019
Harald Sohlberg, Spring Evening, Akershus Fortress, 1913

Countryside, calm waters and a never-ending sunset, could you ask for anything more on a spring evening? Harald Sohlberg’s incredible depiction of a sunset melting into the mountains is perfection. The famous Norwegian artist was obsessed with painting the landscape of his home country, paying particular mind to the spiritual significance of the mountains and the stunning colours that flooded the sky depending on the season.

Although Solhberg actively denied any affiliation to Nordic Naturalism or the Symbolists, these influences are evident in his fantastical portrayal of the world around him, where carefully articulated shadowy trees often foreground the world beyond.

Thanks.
