I’ve always loved the Narnia books. I’ve read all seven multiple times. Was never interested in the movies because I knew Hollywood would screw them up. My personal favorite is Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The Magician’s Nephew and The Horse and His Boy are tied for a close second

But those methods were also unique, innovative and audacious.
So unique, that the striking similarities between his system and ours strongly suggests that our organs of state security directly modeled their methods on his.
I think they looked at the GDR and said "with our technology, know-how, and creativity, we can make all this work on a much grander scale."

Ideally Hollywood would stay clear of Narnia because of its Christian themes. Remember the movies they came out with 20 odd years ago? Even then I knew it couldn’t last because Hollywood could not do the Christian themes justice due to their contempt for them.

I did have on the CNN Talarico town hall yesterday while doing dishes and cleaning the microwave. I had him on for 55 minutes.
He did what he had to do - come across as normal, recite talking points and not creep people out and he did that well. The "don't be creepy as hell" meds he was taking kicked in.
I really think the Dems should just have a broad range of standard answers to questions about the economy, immigration, abortion, etc that they should just parrot out to appeal to the normies. It could all be lies, but their base knows that. I honestly feel that's what Talarico did.
All his answers were reasonable sounding to anyone who doesn't know anything about him Even the Christianity stuff didn't have fireworks. But it was CNN. You know like all political events, it was carefully staged and crafted.
Fortunately, CNN only has 700,000 viewers, they're not all in Texas and anyone who may have been swayed probably had better things to watch.

I've had that in the past (former residence), where the immigrant families flooded the neighborhood on Halloween, and we'd have not just the kids, but each parent and grandparent grab candy, even had a kid slip in the house to check out our son's toys.

we used to go to a freinds' development bc it was just where our kids friends mostly were and had a lot of fun. but word got out how generous and it got bad
on the good hand, a lot of cops lived there. so they started closing it off! (we still got in tho)
I still miss those Halloweens. I would set up a table to give the adults (especially the police guys!) treats - like hot dogs and warm cider and beer

We had a nearby neighborhood with a one block row of shops that shuts down on Halloween, all the shops give out candy + music, bouncy houses, etc. Great fun!

The administration should have called quits on both its TPS and Humanitarian parole. imho, of course.
Because the Supreme Court gave the executive branch broad authority to terminate TPS, immigrant advocacy groups and congressional allies are pushing for legislative "fixes" to bypass the presidency and provide permanent status: The Dream and Promise Act of 2026 (H.R. 1589). The SECURE Act.
Country-Specific Shield Bills, i.e., Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) introduced a bill in October 2026 to legally extend TPS protections for Ukrainians through 2029, isolating them from executive termination. Similar legislative efforts, such as Senate Bill S.4814, have been introduced to create a three-year extension and a permanent residency track for Haitians.
The Afghan Adjustment Act is bipartisan U.S. legislation designed to create a direct pathway to lawful permanent residency for over 76,000 Afghan evacuees who arrived in the U.S. under temporary humanitarian parole following the August 2021 withdrawal.
