Saturday Night Club ONT - October 10, 2026 [Disco & Dino]

club-pensacolabeach-isaias.jpg
Pensacola Beach, on the eve of Hurricane Isaias

Welcome to Club ONT - a whelming collaboration of The Disco and The Dino.

Open thread - bar is open, too. Come in in, grab a drink or 2. Or 3. Keep it light and friendly. Have no fear. The Moose out front has not evacuated in light of the hurricane. He remains on duty.

Saturday Night Jokes and Other Funnies

I had to go to the hospital overnight to have some tests done. As I was settling into my bed, my "roommate" was ordering breakfast from the cafeteria"

"First I would like some scrambled eggs. I like them really runny. Like cook them for about 7 seconds and be sure to include at least one whole eggshell"

"Second I would like coffee, served black and cold. Not iced, just cold coffee that has been sitting around for a day or two"

"Now this third request will sound strange. I would like a glass of orange juice in a used urine specimen cup. The slight taste of urine settles my stomach"

Suddenly I heard a shreik from the phone. The cafeteria worker screamed, "That's just disgusting! We can't do that"

"Why not, you did it yesterday!"

44 Until now I never knew what was in a Hurricane drink. You get to keep the glass from Pat O'Brien's in NOLA.

I was in the piano bar there during one Mardi Gras in college. The crowd carried us there. Sitting in a NC university frat boy's lap drinkin'this huge cocktail. Got the only hickie of my life on my neck and didn't notice. My mother did the next day, though, in spite of my turtleneck and make up. I was surprised as well.

Met him and his friends with my friends at a parade. We were hanging off the barricade and a guy with a rifle was spotted on the balcony above us. I wanted to see him (I was not very bright at 17yrs) and he grabbed me as the police ran in.

Now they would cancel the parade and close down for a day. At the time the parade went on. We hung out with them the rest of the afternoon and evening before being picked up by my mother.

He'd call me at our dorm in MS and we wrote for a few months. He and one guy showed up at my parent's farm one day and flipped out mother. Went out with him the final time and he realized what a prude I was and that endeth that. Nice guy. This concludes my dating activity for that semester.

77 We are, every so slowly, moving into the house again. We built the closet shelves today, and are moving our stuff downstairs into the new bedroom. It is so damned satisfying after three months in the camper. There's still at least a weeks worth of work for the contractor, including hooking up the plumbing fixtures and finishing out the shower. I will be absolutely thrilled when they finally get the washer and dryer up and running. No more icky laundromat with all the assholes who make such messes and are so rude.

Plus, it's $5 a load to wash, plus about $3 to dry, so it's outrageously expensive, and half the appliances are broke down... bitch bitch bitch.

The renovations are beautiful, and I know we are going to be very happy. So I suppose it's all worth it. But that was one hell of a summer.

Trump's success in the presidential election against two different women seems to boil down to a matter of quantity.

The first opponent did not blow enough Willie.

The second opponent blew too much Willie.

Unfortunately, due to the 22nd Amendment, we will never be able to determine if there's a correct amount of Willie blown that would win against Trump in an erection election.

Posted by: Piper at October 10, 2026 11:07 PM (ZdaMQ)

180 Out of hurricane range & there is currently the tropical storm from the Pacific and CA going over us. There will be snow in the mountains. We need the rain.

In 2005 we had 3 CAT 3's hit our FL Atlantic beach & a tiny bit south of our barrier island.Mandatory evacs, twice to Tallahassee vs Tampa (son in Tampa had 3 roommates). Hunker from wind, run from water.

Kept stuff in bins in the LR for six weeks. Had art and stuff in both college towns til Thanksgiving. We only lost power at bunker home briefly as power was underground and connected to emergency services in the beach town.

The Neanderthal neighbor next to us lost power for 2wks and deserved it. The beach town south of us and my best friend didn't deserve it.

Publix, after this year, got generators for every store. Finding fresh produce was a miracle then.

Volunteered with the Salvation Army a few blocks away as I felt so guilty having power. Job was ice bags,, and a state senator kept sticking his head in the cars politicking. I wanted to yell at him but I knew his mother. I got pulled to give out spaghetti dinners instead.

Same fencing down for 2 hurricanes.House fine.

If going that route, have the electrician install a sub-panel, and move your essential loads to the sub. Run the feed to the sub through a manual transfer switch which will feed the sub-panel off the main panel when grid power is available, but can switch it to the generator "outlet" should the grid power fail. Some sort of transfer switch will be required by code, anyway. You don't want to be back-feeding the grid, and endanger some poor lineman's life. (rare, but theoretically possible; more likely your generator will just up and quit from overloading it)

I would like, someday, to send up a couple of drones during a hurricane. One when the first big winds hit - I'd have to look up what speed I would aim for. Then one in the eye.

The goal would be to get them as high as possible, try my best to keep them aloft, and just see where the wind took them. Program them to record their GPS position, and to send me a text when they are down to 2% power or so.

Maybe attach a note with a gift card and instructions to buy beers on me after texting me with the location.

Maybe launch rockets at the same time... something with a G engine or two. Same arrangement.

One thing I found before a hurricane (evacuated 8 times on that island. House was a bunker, but IF the surge hit "just right" we were goners) is that there is no wind and HOT. I could easily see how the Seminoles figured out one was coming. No birdsong. Afterwards no birdsong as the noise for days is power saws.

Once we got metal screw in shutters vs labeled ply wood (boys came from college) we never had another. It's hell to get ready and heaven to return.Damage would be same fence down and shredded pool screen.Lucky us.

I would be hot, stressed and crazy. I guess in shorts and a tee.

For the first one of 2005 it took us 11hrs to get to FSU (normally 5hrs). I could have landed a 747 at that point, following son and dog. Husband in packed car behind me. Other son back to Tampa loaded down.

My dude said a guy in a sports car was on I-95 trying to flirt with me in the middle lane. I was singing loudly to CD's. He must have been desperate as my hair was wild and curly and I looked like Phyllis Diller in a wind tunnel.

I was bummed out I missed it!

Went to the ED (drug seeking) and was surprised to learn I had ze covid. The staff then wore their masks with me, and ED MD told me to take high doses of Tylenol and alternte with 3 Advil for 3 days in our bedroom. No one else got it.

I think the mask brigade in public believed the dropping dead chy knees version vs mostly a cold.

I went through a period of wanting to scare hikers in the mountains wearing masks but got over it. I did laugh in my car at people driving with them.

263 This time of year, there's a major hatch-out of little blue gnats that are most annoying... those things are everywhere and clouds of them can be very thick! They get in your eyes, up your nose, in your hair and stuck to clothing. Just, ugh!

Masks are good for keeping them out of your mouth and nose. LOL.

265 Guy talking to his friends at the bar:

The other day I was in the bathroom and noticed some movement through a crack in the curtains. I looked out and my super-hot neighbor was sunbathing in the nude.

I'm not proud of this, but I couldn't resist. I started wanking off.

When I finished I turned around and my wife was standing there. She'd been watching the whole time.

Imagine how I felt when I discovered that my wife is a pervert.

Take a shallow lid, like from a tub of dip, fill it with water then put a daub of butter or something like it, with just the crest of it above the water. Many will float.

268 Interesting. I haven't noticed anyone wearing masks at Old People Warehouse, other than the woman in her 90s who's always worn one ever since I've lived there.

But then, we Alaskans are pretty non-conformist... even the elderly. Or maybe especially the elderly.

270 Braenyard, there are *so many* of them! Hundreds of thousands!

They'll be gone soon. Usually only around for a week or two and it's been over a week. Low overnight temps starting tonight should kill them off until next year.

271 I had COVID twice, at least according to the test kits.

The first time was nothing special. The second time kicked my ass.

I know I had it. Constant inflammation of everything was the calling card. Did get some hospital grade anti-inflammatories at one point and that knocked it down to where I could at least eat for a day or two. Ended up getting the monoclonal antibody treatment to finally knock it out.

274 I give blood every 3 or 4 months , and during the year of Covid when you gave blood, they also tested you for antibodies which would indicate you’d had Covid. For the first 6 months of that year had none; but next test showed all the antibodies in my system! I realized I’d had Covid and never even knew it. I remember a time when I had a cough and a slight fever for two nights, but not much. I’ve had flu that was a dozen times worse than that.

If they hadn’t screwed up most people’s immune systems with those damn shots, most people could have ended with natural immunity, like it’s supposed to work.

My neighbors caught it before Biden halted the actual cures.
They went to the local EmergCare (Doc in the Box) and received monoclonal antibodies.
Three days later he's grilling in the driveway. Wife is good too.
I'm walking up to have a chat and he says whoa, I'm contagious.
Three days and it was virtually gone. The Biden operators killed
many people.

Sis & BIL got really sick after one of their overseas trips. Likely kungflu, right at the beginning of *the big scare*. So what did they do?

They got the stoopid shots anyway. Ugh.

It was an op. We've had pig flu, bird flu, all kinds of flu; some people died others went on about their business. At school many of us were sick. Well, you get sick, are you going to miss necessary classes or are you going get off your ass and attend? Right.
Covid was an op conducted by the Administrative State.

281 I have a theory (I have a one of earthquake predictions I won't get into) of how every cold or virus now has a component of covid in them.

While viruses constantly evolve/mutate/get frisky, some colds/coughs now take longer to get over vs the old fashioned 7 days. Thanks to wuhan.

I've had a few that take over 3wks for the cough to go away. Being around a baby and school kids doesn't help, but I was never not going to see them. I've had noro and pretty sure RSV this year from baby girl and life goes on.

I feel sure everyone now has antibodies from the wuhan flu. Bastids.

Going to bed and hope for the best for sleeping all night without snorting! Goals!

282 Worst illness I ever had came with bizarre symptoms including deep internal pains that both make you feel like you’re dying and also make you want to die. I figured out later that this perfectly matches the description of a tropical disease known as Dengue Fever.
How could I get that inside the United States? Clue was that both my daughter and I got it at the same time, and we’d eaten together at a Fort Worth restaurant featuring Central American food a couple days before. There was an epidemic of it going on in Guatemala at the time, and I know those assholes had brought in some illegal migrants from there to work the kitchen. Who knows how many people they infected.
