The "I Totally Forgot It Was Friday" ONT

I was relaxing with a book after dinner. About 8, my wife comes in and says "Hey, shouldn't you be writing the ONT?" I had totally forgotten, LOL. Anyhow...Howdy folks! So, Grok AI scanned my Twitter/X account and generated this picture of what the world would be like if I ran it.

"World under Weirddave0: Common sense paradise. One-page insurance that works, perfect street tacos (no anger), kids learning safe gun handling, free speech zones, metal detecting gold, strong families, free markets. Liberty and responsibility for all."

40 I relate to most of this ONT. Thank you.

The 1970's kid didn't mention riding bikes in DDT clouds. The most exciting evening of the summer week for my brother and me, other than the ice cream truck. If both had happened at the same time we would have spontaneously combusted with joy. Mother would simply tell us not to ride in the street.

Except it was in the 60's, the rest was the same of being outside all day. Once we moved to the farm no one knew where anyone was. We could have been dead from a stampede or snake bitten or drowned. She knew no one would kidnap us as they'd regret it.

When we went to our grandmother's, every Saturday of our lives til we drove, we were then with feral cousins and still not allowed in the house unless it was raining or cold. They let us in for meals only.

She and her sisters would go shopping and leave seven of us in the car. Most of our bodies were in the car, but legs & heads were hanging out. Or we made baboon noises at people or acted mental. No worries about kidnapping then, either.

I totally got the diagram of the bass player.

You did really good, Weird Dave, to do this so quickly after forgetting. Thanks for not forgetting.

We have a press at work that is big enough to fit her in, only have to remove about half of the 11 platens. Its a difficult task, but I will do it for justice.

The joke is that a fiat currency without any sort of restriction on printing like a hard asset backing will lead to continual inflation, uncontrolled business cycles, and more and more frantic moves by the central bank to paper over any default through borrowing and playing games with central bank interest rates, or shift the debt onto other economic actors dependent on the central bank without their being able to prevent it.

64 I'm trying to remember the weirdest injury of my husband and they all blur into confusion. Married 47yrs.

A couple of weeks before our wedding he cut his hand really badly making dinner. I got him in the car and he was sort of giddy from bleeding (it was a lot of blood). He held a towel on it and above his head for the drive to the ED. Until the day before our vows he was wearing a gigantic bandage on his left hand. It was the start of something once a year or more.

When we were broken up once in college he showed up at my door with a hand injury and gravel embedded into his thumb/palm. He was riding in a parking lot of a bar on the tailgate of a truck. Friend patched out and he fell and decided he'd go see his student nurse. It was late and I was in bed on a school night.

I opened the door and looked at his hand. Asked wth he thought I'd do about it (I doubt I had a bandaid, much less stuff to clean it).

I had no time or pity for the bum who kept breaking up seasonally so he left. He went to the ED the next day for debridement and an antibiotic. I ain't no fool.

Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at October 02, 2026 10:36 PM (hzuYO)

65 Another option for the death penalty (also pay-per-view):

Stand that evil scrunt out in the Bonneville salt flats with a rope around her neck. Make sure the rope has at least 1000' coiled up with the other end attached to the bumper of a '69 Chevelle. Drive the car as fast as possible and when the slack runs out, her spine gets ripped right out of her body.

Most Governors don't really have that skill set. If we are going to require the Governor to do the execution, we should employ the Spanish "garrote vil" which pretty much just requires the executioner to twist a wheel.

There’s more than a slight bit of truth to that, but sill, more 70s from my experience.
The fashion…the bike handlebars.
But they really don’t touch on the deep down remembrances…
Slight skin abrasion? Mercurachome. Painless.
Bloody gash? Methiolate. Ouch!
And I don’t remember the actual reasons… but there was the spray-on “plastic-ish” bandage.
It seemed to get the job done. Right back at it.

81 The dog protecting his kitten fren knows exactly how to deal with bullies.

Don't give them an inch, don't flinch, and exude the vibe that if they come one inch closer you will terminate them with extreme prejudice.

That kitten chose her friends wisely. That is a VERY important skill for a happy life!

82 25 I've heard tell of Governor Bill Lee's office having been inundated with offers of assistance regarding the botched dispatching of that murderess.

Wheat place other than America can a purportedly humane execution be twisted such that it fails when so many methods exist that guarantee instant, painless death?

I don't understand why they didn't just wrap a plastic bag around her head, turn out the lights, go home, then check back the next morning.

84 Enjoying MiladyJo's scratch pizza, thin crust with veggies (what? no pepperoni? Oh, well), with a side salad that has a minimum of that annoying leafy green stuff.

Calls for some wine but the cupboard seems to be bare.

87 >>Well, sweetie, your husband walks in bleeding, with a limp, and busted knuckles so YOU don't have to. And that's the way you both want it

The 60s and 70s kids were the generations when our dads told us to rub some dirt on it. Injuries were just part of the day not something to whine about.

Walk it off, snowflake. It was a different attitude.

89 Next game up! Montana State Bobkittuhs vs Idaho Vandals. Idaho is up 7-3 already. Penn State is still getting stomped by the nerds at Northwestern. Guess firing James Franklin changed nothing. They lost to NW last year too, which lead to JF getting fired.

90 Ole Pike won't be around much longer for her fans to have glee over her beating the rap.

The med that never reached her vein caused necrosis of both inner elbows. Plus it can cause pulmonary edema. It sounded like a pack of drunk chimps tried to start her IV. "They could not tell it was not in a vein." Yes, yes, you can as there is a blood return you incompetent nincompoops.

While she was already brain damaged and evil (plus satanic I read) before this she's really super brain damaged now. Veggie Pike.

Eventually I guess they will pull the plug. Dunno. It's a weird show to try to kill her then keep her alive, Tennessee.

91 You want gold-backed currency.
You will settle for Fiat currency.
You get Yugo currency.
Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at October 02, 2026 10:35 PM (n2qDf)

I know this is a joke on the Yugo being a Fiat, as much as the Lada was.

There is a school of thought that the advent of the trans Atlantic cable and the telegraph net in the US broke the hard currency standard since the banks could kite debts and resolve them faster than they could be settled in gold or silver, and this made "debt backed assets" a normal financial item.
Under telegraph communications, any attempt to settle a debt in physical gold could never catch up with the debts being created, and traded or cancelled by a countering debt.
This point of view is in support of the idea that some sort of globally shared ledger is the ultimate expression of this trend, and it would not be inflationary if there were either some backing mechanism, or if there was a token of sort that had a hard limit to production to prevent inflation.
