France In Crisis as "Youths" Set Fire to Schools, Cars, and... People

Macron has declared a crisis and gathered his advisors to figure out how to stop the riots.

So many Doctors and Engineers are taking part in them!

France's intelligence agencies briefed a government crisis meeting on Thursday that a wave of student protests, sometimes violent, that has swept across the country was initiated by hard-left politicians, a person close to the prime minister ‌said.
The protests against teacher shortages and dilapidated school buildings erupted in the Paris region last month but have turned increasingly violent as they spread nationwide, with dozens injured and with police making hundreds of arrests.
Student protesters started fires in at least two high schools, while teachers were inadvertently splashed with petrol at a third in the southern city of Marseille, officials said. At least one car was torched in Strasbourg in the east and riot police clashed with youths in Toulouse in the southwest.

Other sources, like Fox, say that the teachers were "doused" with gas -- but do not claim this dousing was "inadvertent," as the corrupt communist Hamas-aligned Reuters does.

Are they mind-reading? Do they employ pre-cogs?

France 24 video report here. They feature students complaining that they were roughed up by cops trying to stop the riots. They're not so upset by the riots and arsons themselves.

The riots are coordinated by the far left party, LFI, "Le France Insoumise" or "France Unbowed."

So this is once again a Red-Green Alliance between the far left communists and Islamists.

Reports say over 350 high schools and about 30 university campuses were affected by the movement on Thursday alone. RFI reported 83 police and gendarmes were wounded today, with 119 students and school staffers injured since the start of unrest last week.
Reuters reported the principal of Marseille's Victor Hugo high school was doused in gasoline and injured, while two other principals were injured in attacks in Rouen and Petit-Quevilly. Police used tear gas in several cities, with Reuters reporting students accusing authorities of heavy‑handed tactics. Meanwhile, authorities are warning of "urban violence" and attempted arson at multiple schools.
The protests coincide with the government announcing a series of unpopular spending cuts in its 2027 budget two weeks ago and have become a political flashpoint at a sensitive moment for the French government.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told Reuters that, "in certain places, there were individuals acting as agitators -- people who moved from one school to another to stir up high school and other students and incite them to commit acts of violence." Education Minister Edouard Geffray called for schools to hold classes remotely if protesters were blocking their premises, posting on X: "Violence will not keep our students from their fundamental right to an education."
Senior Envoy to Europe at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies Simone Rodan-Benzaquen told Fox News Digital, "The students' grievances about missing teachers and deteriorating schools were real at first. But dousing a principal in gasoline and attacking firefighters are acts of extreme violence. What makes this politically significant is the effort to turn frustration over schools into a much broader confrontation with the government."
The Associated Press reported the protests are quickly blowing up as a hot topic in the election campaign to replace President Emmanuel Macron next May. Far-left presidential hopeful Jean-Luc Mélenchon has decried the government response to the protests as repressive. Critics have accused his party, La France Insoumise, (LFI), of seeking to use the unrest to score points in the presidential campaign and of inciting violence.
Rodan-Benzaquen says the LFI has "actively supported the mobilization. Activists circulate footage of clashes, party accounts amplify it and elected officials present themselves as the students' defenders." With an election next year, she said, "Mélenchon sees these mobilizations as a way to consolidate young voters and marginalize the moderate left. At a time of deep political, geopolitical and economic challenges, this is a very dangerous situation for France."

Students generally -- not just immigrants -- have claimed solidarity with students from the "suburbs," aka banlieus, aka migrant ghettos. These students are complaining mostly about bullshit stuff like "the school day is too long" (actually it is long, I think they said 9 to 6) and that they don't want their future decided by an "algorithm." That's just a complaint that selective colleges use grades and test scores to evaluate applicants. They're basically complaining that they don't want to be judged on their actual performance and aptitude, which is a very left-wing complaint.

Welp, yesterday I was asking how exactly we know when the UK is gone, considering so many institutions are still standing -- the Royal Family, Lloyds of London, the Great British Baking Show, etc -- and today I think I see it in the video of that African mayor in France dancing around the flames. It will eventually be flames and destruction of age-old monuments in the capital cities while the elected leaders dance. The next day, government councils are disbanded and Islamic law begins.

the Byzantines had a good plan for this. They sent out to the mobs that the government was giving up and they should gather at the stadium to hear the results. Then they sent troops to block all the gates and sent archers to the top rows to start shooting. One path out was left for escape and many were crushed or trampled.

they're trying really hard to demonize these high school students for no reason. I've seen a kick aimed at a riot cop and a dumpster on fire since the beginning, images they're looping... All the rest was police charging at kids.

15 years ago there was a blockade in front of my high school. I remember the tear gas, but not such police violence. And it was already over the top to throw tear gas at high school students.

Since the country is not "on fire and blood", you'd have to be blind to dare say it's not largely disproportionate. These are high schoolers, for crying out loud, and they're not protesting to mess around; on the contrary, they're protesting to work (to have teachers, like seriously lol).

I really can't understand how people can go about living their lives as if nothing's wrong while they violently attack high school students as if they were dangerous individuals.

There are days when I wonder why there's so much violence against law enforcement. But not today.

• winter is Europe's "peak electrical season" they were struggling this summer.
• EU's hero Zelenskyy has been blowing up Europe's diesel supply. Russia has stopped exporting and there are cries from within the US Senate to stop diesel exports from the US to reduce fuel prices domestically.

When France fails, it takes down a lot of its neighbors.

Oh, I think they understand the situation well. Masses of migrants burning shit looks bad, and the right wing is gaining more and more power. Any deflection to something else, especially white French high school kids being "oppressed" by overbearing police, will help their cause. Bonus points if they weaken the police prior to losing power to the right.

That's one of the things that infuriated me about the 2004 tsunami. There was this one cellphone video of a guy trying to pull an elderly woman up out of the rushing water into a stilt house as she's screaming in terror. The guy filming (and about 6-7 other young people, all holding phones) is standing about 10 feet away from this guy struggling to rescue this poor woman while he's live-posting to his instagram. His grip slips and she's washed away just before the video ends, almost certainly to her horrible death.

If there was any justice in the world, the rescuer would have walked over, grabbed the kid by the dick and tossed him in after her.
