EUGENE, Ore. - Eugene police arrested a man after he repeatedly crashed his car into a bank building on Willamette Street, according to the Eugene Police Department.
EPD officials said that officers were called to US Bank at 800 Willamette Street around 10 a.m. on Sept. 24 after reports that a Subaru was running into the building. The driver left the area on foot before police arrived. When officers got to the scene, they found the Subaru parked near the front entrance of the bank. The cinder block siding of the building had a large hole in it, and rubble and debris were scattered on the sidewalk. The Subaru had heavy front-end damage with the front bumper and grill hanging down, and branches from bushes were stuck in the rear bumper.

A few 'nope, haven't heard anything from the client' responses from my 'heard anything?' emails this morning. More of them got '....' lack-of-responses (makes me wonder if they're ghosting me). The recruiter nibble I found in my spam folder Saturday and replied to? Didn't reply today to my reply. But I do have another job's recruiter scheduled for a screening call tomorrow afternoon. As for subbing? Waiting on the 'quick' secondary background check results (which I darned well oughta pass!) so I can get assignments or however it works.

Time to do my evening Bible reading, my exercise, take a shower, and go to bed. And eventually to sleep.

67 Been doing a lot of downsizing lately.
Found a batch off photos of the room my grandfather displayed his extensive arrowhead and other artifacts collection. We knew he had had this- but hadn't realized how huge it was. With the help of Ancestry and newspaper archives, we managed to track down the address of the house- he flipped houses before it was a thing and they moved fairly often- from the classified ad when he sold the collection.

yeah, inflation is a big issue, and RE taxes insist on making us pay "rent" on our property, even if fully paid off. For some of the "middle class" that trust government to protect The Market, they have done OK or great, just keep investing in BigCorp.

But will the constant weekly investment of the average "investor" keep floating the "market" forever? (to infinity, and beyond!), or will gravity eventually bring markets back to "the norm"? idk, it has to happen, but not sure when.

I can't see any profit from colonizing the moon, or much less Mars, other than possible military options for the moon. Moon and Mars are just very expensive survival sites, unless there is gold or lithium or whatever. Sci-Fi has distorted our perspective, imo.

what are you going to refine? Will you pay the transport cost to take material from Earth to the moon, and back? Or is there some moon dust that is very valuable?

And sure, we can launch for less from the moon, but we still have to first get TO the moon. I just can't see any SciFi type magic scenario.

The moon is short on carbon and hydrogen.
The distilleries will be on icier asteroids like Ceres. They might not even need to distill it; alcohols might be there already.
