I started RDR 2 and... just explored the map and ignored the story. Did some of the side quests. Same thing I did with all the GTA game (IV). Crime has no appeal to me. I have no motive force to play the game.

98 Allston really captured the feel of a withered heath with the brown color scheme, the stark rocky hills and, especially, the stark, dead tree in the center. The exposed roots, the twisted broken branches, and the bare weathered wood of the trunks dominate. Elijah is a tiny figure, dwarfed by nature. Even the bird of prey is larger. The ominous clouds add to the sense of desperation and despair.

But it is not all bleak. The patches of blue sky promise light and, maybe, life (and God) to be found. There are living trees on the left side and on the distant hills. Elijah's pain will ultimately be rewarded if he continues and holds to his faith.

The story pacing goes very much to long. Zombie back drop but one of the best... loner anti-hero goes on a redemption arc that actually has a happy ending. Like an OG happy ending. It is weird and considering the nihilism of a lot of zombie fans, I wonder if that is why it was not as popular among that group.

134 I couldn't find a Kindle collection of Allston's paintings, sadly. But his Wiki page has about twenty examples and they are worth looking at. What he does with realistic detail, light and perspective is wonderful. He really does represent the Romantic poetry, which I love, of Britain and America. I wonder if Allston and similar led to the Hudson River School that came along a few years later.

It was a stupid ad and Huckabee should have apologized for it. Instead she doubled down which leaves serious questions as to her abilities for any higher office. It is particularly offensive in the case that WalMart, Tysons, etc. are busy bringing in H1Bs to fill tech roles in Arkansas while the 'white gamer bros' applications are being thrown away.

The first rule in politics is be loyal to your base voters because they are the ones that will stick it out when things go bad. The swing voters, the 'principled' types, will run away when things go bad as they often do in politics.

The gamer community has been beaten about the head by women, been called racist since the whole Gamer gate shit started, and various other insults, now Brad is the epitome of the popular criticisms of white gamer bros over time. That whole community of Gen Z and younger Millennials have had it up to their ass with boomerisms about working harder, and other aphorisms while we have literally given away our tech jobs to foreign lands. Gamers are usually also competing for those same tech jobs. And Huckabee says nothing because her corporate donors want that cheap foreign labor.

That is the subtext of this ad controversy. She is poking at folks that are competing for tech jobs with foreigners in a rigged competition. It is to her discredit that she did it.

Context is important and the smug idiot Comms chief of Huckabee just screwed his boss by commissioning this stupid ad.

What really shifted 2018 was massively juiced Dem turnout. Shockingly, Rep turnout was decent. It's just that Dem turnout was that much more.

Early vote analysis in NC and OH and VA is showing Dem overperformance in the blue state (VA) but overall down turnout and underperformance in the red state (OH) and swing state (NC).

Numbers are still very early, especially in NC (it's all main in votes at this point, and mail in isn't that big of a thing in the state, in-person early voting is where the real numbers will be (starts 10/15).

Still, the good pollsters are showing it close. Early analysis of actual votes shows lower turnout and Dem turnout low in competitive states.

We'll see.

They voted for Trump to end this state of affairs and Trump has moved somewhat in that direction by starting to crack down on the egregious fraud in these programs. This ad reminds them of GOPe and Karl Rovian corporate whoredom.

He wrote Troopers to be a juvenile, but his editor, a proto-Karen AWFL, hated it (as she'd hated his earlier work, and him, but he sold well). So he took it across the street, as he put it, to another publisher and promptly won a Hugo.

Nebraska has a House seat (Don Bacon's Omaha based district in play--he retired but was a POS Never Trumper pro open borders type anyway). Oklahoma has the short term Senate replacement for Markwayne Mullins. I suspect that Trump made that commitment to Markwayne and OK GOP prior to appointing him as DHS chief.
