Did Sonny Hostin Lie About Being the Holdout Juror in the Butcher of Tompkins Square Park Case?

Earlier this week, Sonny Hostin bragged that she was the lone holdout that allowed the literal cannibal killer called "The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park" -- a man who murdered someone and then cut up the body and gave it to homeless people to eat to dispose of the evidence -- to beat a murder rap.

But now it emerges that she was not the holdout juror -- an unemployed man was.

This is the funniest thing on the internet this morning.
Turns out Sunny Hostin was lying about being the lone holdout juror who got The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park off on murder charges.
The holdout was an unemployed guy who wanted the $15/day juror stipend to continue, and Hostin is quoted as being upset he got off:
"He knew what he was doing."
Earth to Sunny, the truth makes you look far better than the lie!

She claimed she was a holdout juror who convinced the other 11 who wanted to convict to change their minds.
But this article written at the time reveals her to be lying.
Grok confirms her true name prior to changing it was "Asunción Cummings."

Nicolas Fondacaro of MRC says the evidence isn't as clear as that NY Daily News article makes it seem. He says that Sonny Hostin was reported by one outlet as being one of the two holdout jurors.

But... even so, she would not be the lone holdout as she says, and also, it seems that the unemployed man was the main holdout, and if she eventually voted with him, it was just to reach a "compromise" with him.

I read the link. What she said at the time was this:

We don't think he intended to kill her," said a juror, Asuncion Cummings [Sonny Hostin]. "But once he did, he dismembered her body in an effort to commit the perfect crime."

That statement has nothing to do with any insanity defense. She's basically saying he knew exactly what he was doing, but guilty of some lesser offense than murder. Even if she was holding out on that basis, she's still lying now by claiming she was holding out because he was legally insane.

Bottom line: Stank Bitch Speaketh With Forked Tongue.

Looked up what happened to the Butcher of Tompkins... found not guilty by reason of insanity for the 1989 murder and dismemberment. A jury in 2004 found him no longer dangerous, but a judge, thank heavens, ruled he still suffers from a dangerous mental disorder and requires continued retention, and he still remains under institutionalized psychiatric care. Hopefully for life.

What if the judge was an activist and said he was cured? He would be free now.

It was fun, altho there were only 4 of us from my class out of the 40 people there. The others looked like Karens.

Two of the "girls" lived above me in an old historic (because I lived there) duplex. Hadn't seen them since graduation and we yapped for hours.

Most everybody else; photojournalism, sports, paparazzi, etc. just hold down the button and get as many pics as flash and media storage allows, then pick and choose the best shots later.

This is true, but I doubt that was the basis for her appeal. Also, she harmed a few patients, and her intent, holy fvck. She was knowingly putting bad diagnostics for lethal conditions out there in the public. Too bad she wasn't prosecuted for that, but I'd keep it in consideration in sentencing her.

Anyone who looked at that skeevy muppet Sam Bank-Fraud and his greasy meth-monster paramour and said "shut up and take my millions" DESERVED to be robbed.

But it's still a serious felony crime nonetheless, and so was Holmes' fraud, and it's made much worse by the fact that the people who invested nothing but believed that they were receiving real blood tests she used to perpetuate the scam didn't deserve it.
