Job progress:

It's not going to pay the bills but it will slow the bleed, soon (not quite yet) I will be a substitute teacher (gives me more flexibility for interviews, and probably slightly better pay, than an entry-level retail/fastfood 'hey I moved you to X shift, be here in 10 minutes' or 'I know you're off today but I need you to cover for Silent Bob').

Today's interview was more of a screening call as were the others this week. Praying that:

1) The others 'waiting for client response'/'deciding if we liked your interview *well enough*' get back to me soon....

2) That if any of these is 'the right job', it come through soon....

3) That any of these that are 'not the right job' fall away and, not to put too fine a point on it, say so instead of ghosting me....

4) That if all of these are 'not the right job', the right one show itself aggressively, so I don't miss it!

There are a very limited number of jobs and a LOT of applicants vying for those jobs. Plus, almost all of them have been overrun by liberals- even 30 years ago. Entry positions anyway.

Actually, I'm running for State Rep in CT. My (liberal) brother, on the other hand, is actually running for Congress in NYC.

I just got my numbers from my campaign treasurer a few minutes ago. I'm $1,180 short of my $6,700 money target, and 39 in-district contributors short of my 150 target. If I can reach both by Sunday at midnight, I'll get about $25,000 from the CT State Election Board to finance my campaign against one of the most progressive (a/k/a DSA-adjacent) members of the CT House.

I know that several Morons contributed to my efforts already. I can't thank you 'rons and 'ettes enough. Thanks to Ace and CBD as well, for putting me on the sidebar.

74 Evening, all! We just watched The Sheep Detectives w/ Hugh Jackman, and it was a delight. Funny, even witty dialog, and an actual mystery that works! A thunderbolt solution and even a classic example of pushing a clue right in the audience's face, in this case in the middle of a comic scene. That was a technique John Dickson Carr often used -- while you were laughing at some outlandish scene with Sir Henry Merrivale, Carr slipped in a crucial clue.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays the voice of the lead "detective" sheep, Lily, and Bryan Cranston is a big black loner ram who has seen more of the world than she has. If you listen carefully to Lily's dialog, you can detect JLD's voice, but Cranston is hard to spot.

I think the central meridian passing through the center of the NA and SA together is about 101W. Now, half the sphere centered on that would be 11W to 191W = 179E.

But nobody defines it that way, I don't think.

Smile 2: The movie isn't bad, but it isn't as good as the original. But more interestingly it feels like the writer changed the movie from general horror to...an allegory on insanity among celebrities and its effect on everyone else. I mean...if I get the ending right its quite an indictment of modern soft left celebrity culture.

28 Years Later Bone Temple: I saw the first two movies years ago and they didn't impress me but I saw this one had Ralph Fiennes so I gave it a try and what a weird, weird horror movie. It is pretty gruesome and unnecessarily so but it does present an unexpected tale set in a zombie world that isn't really about zombies.

I'd recommend the former but not really the later.
