Then I convinced a staffer to let us into the mall, as it was 10:54 already (second illogic). Today Miss Linda is dragging me to another of those Friday luncheons at my old employer. The drive there and back is not bad, I can park without paying, the lunch is free, and who knows, the topic might be interesting. "Might" being the crucial word.

My apartment mismanagement left a notice on my door *yesterday* that I have until today to come in and get a new "gate card" and "gate code." I remember how well those worked in years gone by, so I'm not sanguine -- and annoyed by the fact that I got only a day's notice. If I were still working, it would be very hard for me to get to the office. They leave on the stroke of 4:59:30 pm if they don't sneak out earlier.

63 Yesterday, too, I bought a new AM-FM-shortwave portable radio on Amazon, a Tecsun model. My Grundig emergency radio is showing its age. I know I bought it prior to 2012, when I used it during a power outage after a hurricane the week of the Repub Nat'l. Convention -- the one where Clint Eastwood spoke and addressed the "empty chair" that represented Obongo.

The new one is supposed to have pretty good SW reception. I'd like to be able to pick up WWV again for the time signal. The Grundig used to do it long ago.

But I am so sick of the same ClearCaptions commercials, those for Plexaderm, and for Consumer Cellular, Medicare Advantage plans, CarShield, buying gold, car insurance for seniors . . . Poorly. I seem to be in a holding pattern, circling the airport. Getting rid of "stuff," yes, but not moving forward. I dread moving to yet another apartment in another city, only to have to move again when (if!) I find a house I like and can afford. But I guess I have to do it.
