Filmmaker Lilly Wachowski is working to get her next project, "The Hunted," out of late-stage production. But the "Bound" and "Matrix" director says nobody in Hollywood wants to finance the thriller, which is budgeted at around $10 million, because of its trans representation. "People like it, but they really don't want to make it because it's [got a] wall-to-wall trans cast," Wachowski said on KCRW's "The Business" podcast last Friday. "I have to get creative and figure out different ways that I can get this in front of people."Oh great, it propagandizes "trans rage" as trans people keep violently attacking normies. I think I saw Midnight's Edge point out that if "she" really wants to make the movie, "she" can self-fund it. They pointed out that actor/legend Bruce Campell wanted to make a movie, so he funded it himself. Now "Lilly" blasts everyone for not supporting and centering the Trans Experience, and for supporting JK Rowling. The "journalist" here talks about the "Trans Tipping Point" when transgenders pressured studios into casting them in TV shows. But that golden age, which lasted all the way from 2015 to 2023, is faded. Then came the backlash. Republican politicians and pundits began zeroing in on trans rights, treating it as a wedge issue in order to distract from Trump's economic failings. A moral panic ensued. Just last year, more than 600 anti-trans bills were introduced at the state level in the U.S., and 29 states adopted restrictive laws pertaining to trans people. And Hollywood followed suit, scaling back its trans representation. Cox recently shared she'd lost 90% of her income amid Trump and his minions' war on trans people and DEI.I think the "backlash" was less about a trans actor being on Orange Is the New Black and more about the state using its power to force parents to trans their children and propagandize more children into cutting off their genitals. [WACHOWSKI:]A TV show about a middle-aged lesbian dating a trans man. It is, as they say in Hollywood, a "Four-Quadrant Blockbuster," appealing to all four major demographics: Lesbians, AWFULs, trannies, and ten year old drag queens. ...which went for two seasons, got on all these top ten lists and didn't get the viewing numbers that the studio wanted, so we were summarily canceled and a few months later pulled from streaming....Oh, no one watched your extremely niche show and so they cancelled it? That's so unfair and discriminatory. He then pulls the card the gay/trans/DEI writers always pull: We didn't get ratings or sales but we got good reviews from the woke reviewers and that's even more important. So, when Showtime turned around and canceled the show even though it was so critically acclaimed and really made for peanuts, it lit a fire under me.More whining: Notice they always do the same thing: They claim that zero children are undergoing surgical "transitions" but when you say "Okay if that's true, let's make it illegal so we know for sure it won't happen," they say "YOU CAN'T DO THAT! THAT'S VITAL TRANS-AFFIRMING CARE!" So which is it? Is it something that never happens and that it's "misinformation" to say it happens, or is it vital gender-affirming care that kids need? Choose one. He's a normie who wants to make money. Here "Lilly" expresses the real leftwing objection to Paramount/Skydance buying Warner Bros: CNN might not be as reliable an agitprop channel. He objects to Elon Musk using the expression "Take the red pill," insisting that "take the red pill" really means "embrace trans lifestyles." Oh, so "Lilly's" next project is another Four-Quadrant Blockbuster, called "Cassie Workman is Witchy AF." Witchy. Very 2011 MySpace. And "AF" -- you know, "AF" lost its cache as a meme five years ago, right? It's so weird that other people don't want to work with this endlessly-raging headcase. He thinks he can leverage people's declining interest in "The Matrix" into embracing his psychotically-angry and deranged worldview. Well, good luck with all that. In more repulsive "celebrity" news, "Lilly" Wachowski continues complaining that the country isn't embracing and validating "her" trans identity.
"She" previously complained that no one wants to fund his "all-trans cast" movie. It's not 2022 anymore, "Lilly." ======= His last four movies all bombed horribly. Cloud Atlas, Jupiter Rising, Speed Racer, and The Matrix Resurrection all...disappointed at the box office. And no one seems to like the Matrix sequels at all, even though they did make money. The Wachowskis have coasted on the good will from the Matrix and, to a lesser degree, Bound, for like 30 years now. Can they just move to Europe and make awful porn no one will ever watch now? Stephen Colbert says working on Late Show was like ‘drinking poison’ each night
Garbage headline. He used the phrase in reference to consuming the awful Republican news each day. If you cannot change the atrocities, you have a duty to bear witness, and to use whatever platforms you have to ensure others do too. This is a bare minimum requirement. As Macklemore stated recently. 'there is no thanks for a duty'. Calling this out is something that every last one of us should be doing, everywhere we have access. It was hard to watch any political late night after Trump got elected the second time. You could just see their struggle to remain composed in their eyes as the country sinks deeper and deeper into fascism. I was watching The Daily Show religiously during Trump's first term. But... That hasn't been the case this term. It's all turned into "Wow, that's crazy. Anyone gonna stop him? No? Oh..." 100% As I love Colbert - and I do - I had to stop watching his opening monologues. What a toxic he-witch, just saying things. I offer the antidote of an interview with Dr. Theodore Dalrymple, explaining why we fight:
"Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One's standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to." Good lord I'm so far behind the times that I just found out that the Wachowski brothers -- whose movies I never watched, although I'm aware that The Matrix has some famous lines -- are now the Wachowski sisters. BOTH of them "transitioned" from male to female. They directed/produced a couple of blockbusters and now they're whining that they can't get their all-trans project greenlit? They don't know how Hollywood works? I think they're in the matrix themselves, dreaming pretty dreams, while real life is happening outside their consciousness. The first three books were great. Good sense of wonder and whimsy. With the four, the series started to turn and just got worse (for me) from there. It lost some indefinite quality i cant put my finger on. Side note: the build quality of the original hardcover is outstanding. Thats mighty fine feeling paper under your fingers. Maybe I'll hate-watch it sometime just for how badly executed it is artistically. Posted by: Blonde Morticia I still think it's pretty good. Sure, some of the stuff (human batteries) is dumb, but the premise and world are interesting. I think so many lame movies trying to rip it off followed, and it influenced films so much, that it certainly seems predictable and derivative...when actually it set the standard others relentlessly aped. This whole trans thing is difficult to form an opinion on. I know I should be lobbying on behalf of parents out there who still have minors in the public school system. But, personally, I no longer do.
So I end up looking at "transgenders" like giving a fishing hat to a monkey at the zoo and laughing when they put it on their head. The monkey is immitating humans....just like a Male human immitates a Female Human (with all those stereotypes included) describes a "transgender." I can't help laughing at them, ridiculing them, and maybe feeling a bit of pitty for their delusions. BUT, I can't take them seriously. They're funny looking, and the seriousness they apply to the disguise makes it all the more hilarious. Posted by: Orson at September 18, 2026 04:48 PM (dIske) 206

And don't agree with the assertion that to be a horror movie, the movie has to have an unhappy ending. The assertion is made at the beginning and then never explored, just repeated over and over using various horror movies as examples. Not really something you can have a discussion about. "It's not a horror movie because of the happy ending." "Yes, it is." Done. It's like the Monty Python argument skit. Posted by: naturalfake at September 18, 2026 04:59 PM (iJfKG) 251

Eh. The worldbuilding never made a whole lot of sense to me. The magic system alone is all over the place. Where does magic come from? What defines "power level" in the HP 'verse? Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel ================ I don't even know where to start on how bad the HP books are, but that's a good place. The magic is totally random. How is there ever any legitimate suspense if some magician can just stand up and say "Arresto momentum!" and Harry doesn't hit the ground after all. There is never a single moment of suspense. I could go on for 5000 words on this. Posted by: Blonde Morticia at September 18, 2026 04:59 PM (mmrXZ) 254

The Harry Potter movies were better than the books. The books tended to go on and on and on. In the fourth book, the world quiddich cup thing goes on for over a hundred pages. In the film it was done in a matter of minutes.

However awful you believe the HP books to be, you have to give JK an ENORMOUS amount of credit for getting young boys to read. My oldest and I went to the Barnes and Noble bookstore twice at midnight for two different books on their release dates. He then buried himself in his bed and read them straight through.
And then read them again. He is still a reader. And JK gets the credit. Posted by: nurse ratched at September 18, 2026 05:03 PM (W2Pud) 267

I do wonder how much career instability has to do with Hollywood being crazy. It can't help.
There aren't a LOT of people who consistently work. Scott Bakula. Katy Segal. Some really talented actresses, pretty too, in their 20s and up that I thought would have amazing careers, they're still working but there's tons of other pretty actresses. They're working but still - not stable employment. And the ones I follow on Instagram - a lot are doing music. And they're talented but still.... Posted by: Stateless - Ralphy - 105 years old! Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at September 18, 2026 04:49 PM (FZ29D) Kind of my point. The first three books are kind of 'Wow, look at this world.' After that, she had to get more nuts and bolts as far as character and storyline. After four, it seems like the narrative force drops off a cliff and everything becomes this muddled mess. Posted by: Aetius451AD work phone at September 18, 2026 04:56 PM (zZu0s) And she was aided by the idea that most of the world was ours, with a rump secret wizarding society on top of it. When she had to add in the 'other branches' for different countries, or even how the current English leaders dealt with the bad wizards the cracks started to gape open.
