The Morning Report — 9/ 17 /26

Good morning kids. We're all gonna die! Run away! The bogeyman du jour is of course Artificial Intelligence. Yes, as CBD and I discussed or in our case yammered on about on the latest episode of the podcast linked here as well as in the sidebar and at the popular outlets listed at the bottom of this post, like anything else man has discovered or created, from fire to the wheel to atomic energy to a jet airliner and in one horrific instance 25 years ago box cutters and then jet airliners can be used both for the betterment of humanity and to enslave and/or massacre us. AI is and will be no different. Greed and the lust for absolute power are powerful motivators, just as the real or delusional notion as in the case of Islam and Leftism, of creating paradise on earth.

If you needed another reminder why this year’s midterm elections are so important, Barack Hussein Obama II is back to make the case: Democrats intend to seize control over artificial intelligence and shape it to their advantage. . . Obama’s not against the technological reality of artificial intelligence; he just wants to make sure Democrats are in complete control of it. This is what disciples of Big Government do: They write laws, rules, and regulations that give preferred companies monopoly power within a given industry, and in return, the corporate beneficiaries of these unfair privileges do Big Government’s bidding.
This is the leftist, globalist, crony-capitalist model of governance throughout the West. First, governments conjure a problem that can be used to scare the public. Then their partners in the corporate news media hammer that problem until the public demands government action. Finally, governments propose new laws that infringe upon the public’s freedoms while allocating new powers to the fearmongering governments. Scaring people until they beg for more government is how authoritarianism and totalitarianism take hold.

On a separate note, and speaking of the midterm elections, I give you the madness that is the Democrat Left.

Lawrence, a former DSA member running in a swing district, made the comment during a Swarthmore College debate that also saw him endorse abortion rights 'whether you're a man or a woman or any other gender' . . . William Lawrence, the far-left Democrat nominee for a competitive House race in Michigan, called for "abolishing the institution of marriage," arguing that because it "comes from a particular religious and cultural background," it is at odds with the "separation of church and state," video footage obtained by the Washington Free Beacon shows.

Yeah makes total sense, and from that abortion we go to the utterly repulsive on every level...

Hollywood actress, writer, and producer Lena Dunham is welcoming her first baby into the world, despite saying in the past that abortion is “a huge part of who I am.”

My initial reaction after projectile vomiting trying to imagine the process of inseminating this disgusting mass of lipids was to have pity on the poor turkey baster that had to do the job. Even a Muslim rape gang would run the other way!!! Dunham is so out of the public eye that my thought was that she would only have the baby so as to arrange a live television event on inbred beady-eyed mouth breathing banjo boy Scarborough and concubine Mitzi Baryshnikov's Morning Joke wherein she could take advantage of Lindsay Clancy's notoriety and love affair/near beatification from Leftists and she could boost her career by strangling the infant to death a la Clancy with her bare hands, followed by the regular Al sharpton railing against diamond merchants and white interlopers!

All of these arguments are retarded and lies. Marriage has been an institution that has been enjoyed by all cultures since the beginning of recorded history.

The "separation of church and state" was just as invented as the "right to abortion". Up until this new invention was eisegeted into the Constitution, there was prayer in schools, Bible reading in public classrooms, ten commandments in public buildings like schools and court houses, and worshipful banners in the public square during Christmas and Good Friday/Easter. No one had a problem with it under the Constitution. Then the Leftists decided to evict God

And now the "separation of church and state" has been crushed under the integration of Islam into our government, plus Climate Cultism, Feminism and a vast myriad of other faith systems integrated and enforced by government.

Every religion is part of the State EXCEPT the one religion the United States was founded on.

Cutting rates would be inflationary at this point.

What Trump needs to do is get this Iranian situation under control.

That alone would have numerous positive knock-on effects.

One of them being regular gas which in my neck of Pa is now around 4.60 a gallon would go down. I don't even want to speak of the cost of diesel, diesel the fuel that drives the US economic engine is ludicrous right now.

I have training for substitute teaching today - this should get me some irregular and modest income. On the plus side, the 'are you available today?' nature of it, should keep me flexible for interviews for better work.

This afternoon I have an interview.

The Monticello coal fired plant near Mt. Pleasant, Texas was shut down and disassembled during the Owebama administration in a deal made with then Governor Rick Perry.

The plant sat near multiple lignite deposits that was used to fuel the facility. At the time of shutdown, it was estimated that at current consumption rates, there was a minimum of 150 years of lignite available to the plant close enough to it where trains wouldn't need to be used for transport.

It’s an interesting problem - the idea of bombing, exemplified by the B-52’s, is to take out high value targets in a modern state. Yet the Houthi are a mostly dispersed and rural population living at a relatively crude level already, without many high value targets themselves. Unless the US was going to bomb with the specific goal of eliminating as much of the civilian population as possible, bombing by itself won’t do much.

The Romans would have sent several legions and killed them all with swords, but we’re not capable of that kind of commitment today.

Yet the Houthi are a mostly dispersed and rural population living at a relatively crude level already, without many high value targets themselves. Unless the US was going to bomb with the specific goal of eliminating as much of the civilian population as possible, bombing by itself won’t do much.

Economic situation would be much graver if we were paying the money out to foreign countries for the oil. Internally, we pay more to ourselves--changes distribution of income but not wealth. Oil industry is getting a windfall and promptly investing that into new production which means jobs, investment, etc. Same with mfg.

Under the old rules where we imported a lot of oil, we paid out that money and foreigners in return bought our goods, ious, and/or both raising inflation a lot more by driving down the dollar.

For the most part, the reason that the margin has not moved is because of a) semi permanent welfare class, and b) importation of a bunch of poor welfare consumers/frauds from other lands which is a further disincentive for the welfare class to get jobs.

If you went back to 1960's, you would find that in that society, the elderly and the young were a big component of the poor at that time but not new immigrants because US immigration laws were restrictive. Generational welfare families were primarily only in the major urban areas.

years ago, the "Poverty Threshold" was calculated based on the cost of economy food plan x 3.

Since then, like everything else the sloven government does, is multiply the Poverty Threshold by an Inflation Adjustment.

So an arbitrary number "cost of food" established years ago in the 1960s by the Social Security Administration (since we know the food supply chain, nor what is considered enough and what kind of food hasn't evolved one bit since then) is multiplied annually by yet another political and arbitrary number and this sausage making yields the benchmark for the Poverty Line.

Passing bills that go nowhere to show 'hardworking' doesn't mean much. Likewise almost all the legislation coming from the Senate is toxic bi-partisan stuff which means Democrat provisions and poison pills that Thune allows in them to get to 60.

Legislation is not like assembly line working as it fewer and better bills are more important than a slew of crappy ones. And the crappy ones are what get shoved out the door just before elections.

House needs to get out the door and start campaigning anyway to keep a GOP House rather than entertain stupid votes to bring the troops home from Iran, impeachment of Hegseth, and other pointless theatrics so that a few GOP members can join with Democrats on passing noxious look at me bills or worse, amnesty.

I disagree. Blanche knows exactly what the FBI was like under Comey and Wray. He was Trump's personal lawyer. I think he's doing a great job at the DOJ and deserves a lot of credit for stopping the weaponization and getting the agency back to its mission.

This is a large, complicated case against some of the highest ranking government officials. And the DOJ has to fight against a judiciary that we all see fighting us every step of the way.

Trump wants some results before November for obvious reasons. From that interview it sounds like DiGenova wanted more time. If anything it sounds like Blanche is pushing hard.

Fuel oil here has reached 5.55 a gallon. Minimum of 150 gallons. And that is from a company that we have been using for 15 years, with the lowest prices, COD. Gonna be a tough winter. Marry that with the gasoline prices, and the long commutes most workers here have, and things are not going to be promising for any Republican. Even less than there usually is. Yeah, people are stupid, but their wallets are beginning to speak to them.

In NJ? Yes. Even at 12 midnight, a highway such as 287 has quite a bit of traffic. During the week, the major highways are very crowded with people headed to work. My work place was 56 miles from my house. Glad I retired in 2019.
