The Morning Report — 9/ 11 /26

JJsLivingRoom.jpg

Good morning kids. We are absolutely loaded with links and of course today being the 25th anniversary of 9/11 as is all too and painfully obvious the largest category far and away is about the events of that horrendous day. I'm sure we all remember where we were and what we were doing when we first heard the news. At the time, working as I was in both show business and the advertising industry, my time was divided between LA and NYC, and it was just after 6:00AM on the west coast when my father, of blessed memory, phoned me, and my first thought was "well here he is again calling to "use up his minutes before they run out" (remember those days?) until I heard him tell me to turn on the TV and that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. Yes, what he had said stunned me but it was the tone of his voice that was the shocker. That is until I did as he said and saw the smoking hole in the first tower. I remember physically taking a step backward trying to process what I was seeing. Clear blue sky and the smoldering hole in the facade. My first reaction was accident and thinking Cessna. That is until watching in abject horror as the second jumbo jet zoomed in and struck the second tower. Then I yelled the word "WAR."

Whether fate, Divine providence or dumb luck, I would've been right in the WTC plaza as the planes struck. I was in NYC exactly a week before, and had a routine I stuck to, which was eating breakfast with my folks and then taking the subway from Forest Hills down to the WTC, where I visited the Century 21 department store, J&R music world and then a cigar store before ambling up Broadway or Church street to grab some breakfast before either heading back to Queens or to my office. There but for the grace of God. I head returned to LA a few days before the attacks despite my parents wanting me to extend my stay so I could be with them for Rosh Hashanah, which was a week later on the 18th that year.

I was lucky as were a few other relatives and friends of mine who had business in or very near the WTC that morning but somehow were prevented from being among the victims. Not so a classmate of mine who died a horrible and needless death that day.

Kathleen Moran was a Brooklyn native. The second-born from a big Irish family, she often hosted the whole family for gatherings at her Bay Ridge apartment. In her backyard she tended a garden patch of tomatoes, zucchini and more, which she jestingly referred to as “her crops.” Kathleen made memories with her nieces and nephews at birthday parties and on trips to Disney World, and maintained a network of close friends who accompanied her on her travels, whether on weekend road trips to the beach or a week’s sojourn to Italy. After 9/11, Kathleen’s family found a jewelry box in her apartment containing a medley of small items precious to her. Her 1977 class ring represented her years at Midwood High School, where she sang and acted in school musicals. A gold broach with emerald stones spoke to her Irish heritage, the home country of her parents. There were also three Christmas ornaments, commemorating her travels around the world. These were only part of Kathleen’s much larger collection of distinctive ornaments, enough to fill multiple trees during the holiday season, according to her sister Bernadette.

May sweet Kathleen's memory and indeed all of the victims' be for a blessing.

Switching gears completely, lest we forget who and what perpetrated this, it was ISLAM. Unfortunately even as the wreckage and ruins in lower Manhattan, the Pentagon and Shanksville PA we, that is to say the powers that be not only forgot but did their best/worst and continue to do so in covering up for the evil beasts who perpetrated this and those who cheered and continue to cheer it on.

9/11 Was The Beginning Of A Religious War That We Lost. . . We thought religion had no real influence on peoples and cultures, so we failed to recognize the religious nature of the conflict... Today, it’s easy to see just how naive and shallow Ambrose’s analysis was. The idea that there would be no more major ideological conflicts, or that Western civilization had nothing to fear from competing cultures and peoples, was positively delusional.. . At the dawn of the 21st century, no one could possibly take religion seriously, or think that medieval religious disputes had any relevance in the post-Cold War world that was taking shape. Then 9/11 happened. But instead of shattering this delusion, great efforts were made to shore it up. This proved difficult (but not impossible) because the leaders of al-Qaida were obviously motivated by religious beliefs, and said so repeatedly.

I was comforted/heartened for perhaps a nanosecond or so when Dubya proclaimed in the bullhorn that the perpetrators would "hear from all of us," but then he declared that we were in a war on "Terror." Right then and there I knew we were screwed.

And as for the estimable John Daniel Davidson, 9/11 was not the beginning of a "religious war," As Islam has been at war with the Civilized world since its inception nearly 1500 years ago. It seeks the death of unbelievers in its quest to conquer the world in order to make it Islamic in its entirety. And the Shiite part of Islam believes that bringing about Armageddon will make that happen, with them at the top of the heap for all time. So, regardless of how you think President Trump is handling the war with Iran, the leading Shiite nation state, that he is actively doing whatever he can to prevent them from obtaining the nuclear weapons to bring about Armageddon is absolutely the right thing to do, higher gasoline prices for a while being an acceptable price to pay.

Switching gears yet again, I draw your attention to the lead photograph which was the view from my former apartment in NYC when my wife lived there before we met. It was taken not long before 9/11. And she was getting ready for work when the Towers were hit and collapsed. So on that day and for several weeks to follow she was breathing in the air. Now 25 years on, during treatment for what we think is an unrelated neurological issue, the doctors discovered scarring on her lung due to potential asbestos exposure. Oh joy oh bliss.

Anyway, that's all I've got the energy for on this terrible anniversary.

Have a good day. And God Bless all the victims and their families, as well as our first responders and the military for all their sacrifices on that day and in the wake of the attacks, from Iraq and Afghanistan all the way to Epic Fury.

Death to Islam and to those who are allied with it who seek our destruction. May we see all of them wiped out in our lifetimes, so that we may actually have a lifetime to live in freedom and in service of the Lord and our fellow human beings. Amen.

Have a great weekend.

26 Thank you JJ.

I, too, was on the west coast that terrible morning; headed to work early around 6am. I worked near LAX. We actually started our first meeting of the day at 8am…. I’d heard a vague report on the radio about a plane hitting the WTC. Just a few minutes into our 8am meeting they decided our whole building had to be evacuated because it was close to LAX.

One thing I’ll never forget was the eerie silence that night; we lived close to LAX and were used to the constant sound of jets taking off and landing. Not that evening of 9/11… the airport was closed and the silence was deafening

In those early days I’d hear hallway chatter at work (when we went back the next day) about how the terrorists might’ve smuggled a nuke into LAX and would detonate it. In that moment it didn’t seem totally outlandish

Maybe…. But space is BIG and we’re nowhere close to any limits at the moment. Your government and SpaceX and others are planning hundreds of launches in the coming years. Proliferated LEO is a real thing

45 How an Alleged MS-13 Killer Known as ‘The Witch’ was Released in California

But federal prosecutors admitted that they failed to tell federal Judge Jinsook Ohta about the man’s criminal history, which also includes a California arrest for allegedly attacking a vagrant with a machete.

So was this a "failure" by fed prosecutors, or more of the dirty "wink, wink" behavior that allows dangerous felons to be released from detention so they can once again terrorize Americans? There are so many traitors to the American people working at local, state, and fed positions, not only as judges, but as lawyers.

Don't forget that in 1993 the World Trade Center building was attacked by terrorists too.
the 2017 Las Vegas attack has many questions left unanswered as well.

69 In other news, I was trying to add music to my phone yesterday and accidentally deleted all the music already there. I've done that before, so it's not a yuge restore, but it does take up a lot of time.

I was listening to some of the score of the movie Battle Beyond the Stars and never realized how much of it James Horner recycled into Wrath of Khan. Specifically, the end titles sound a lot like the "Main Title" and the "Battle In The Mutara Nebula" selections.

70 I put my flag out this morning before the sun came up. America must never forget what islime did to us. This was not 'radical' islime, it was just what muzzies do; destroy, steal, kill. Their book commands it to be so until all the world is under the curse of islime. Do not let it happen.

71 The "Cold" War (that we won) lasted around 50 years. When dealing with vicious ideologies, that you don't exactly meet on the battlefield, victories take time and effort. But victory will come. Iran is key. I agree with commenter above, Iran should have been dealt with after 9/11. They had a part in it, and hid Zawahiri for years. Some got fooled with the sunni/shia nonsense.

72 Morning, News Folken!

The name "Stephen Ambrose" triggered a memory, and I went to look. Yes, he was on the faculty of the University of New Orleans (then called LSUNO) from 1971. I was there then, but the place was so gigantic, and I had so little interest in history classes, that the name never crossed my mental screen.

79 As for where I was when 9/11 happened: I was living in Denver, out of work but finishing a novel. That day, I typed the words "THE END," got up for more coffee, turned on the TV, and went, "Whaaaa?"

82 Morning Horde thx JJ, happy Friday. Hope for a good weekend for all the Horde and their families.
We had a rape/ murder her in my county . A 15 yr old allegedly attacked and murdered an elderly woman. He basically confessed, but his public defender wants a psych eval before going forward. The judge granted it. The kids grandmother says he "has deficiencies"
The local rags comments are what you'd expect. A lot of AWFLs saying "we need more mental health treatment" , "he couldn't control himself". I doubt since it's a man they will show up in pink shirts however

84 >>How an Alleged MS-13 Killer Known as ‘The Witch’ was Released in California

But federal prosecutors admitted that they failed to tell federal Judge Jinsook Ohta about the man’s criminal history, which also includes a California arrest for allegedly attacking a vagrant with a machete.
- - -

Gee, a vicious killer from gang where uncooperative civilians are routinely murdered is just . . . released. Yeah, I'm sure it's simply because she didn't have enough info on the guy. Yeah, that's it.

Question: Since we've been constantly told we must accept a large portion of the population of countries such as Honduras because they need to escape the crime, why is it that we also actively accept the criminals the rest of them are fleeing from?

We are not giving them shelter from MS-13, TsA, etc.. This is insanity.

86 The Bush family was beholden to the Saudis but so were we because of our oil dependence.

For the record, the 9/11 perpetrators were fanatical Saudis, Bin Laden included. Awkward.

Our oil dependence shaped our foreign policy for decades, but no longer.

Much credit goes to George P. Mitchell, the Father of Fracking. Most Americans have never heard of him.

88 9/11 Was The Beginning Of A Religious War That We Lost. . . We thought religion had no real influence on peoples and cultures, so we failed to recognize the religious nature of the conflict...

It is not a religion. Religions don't demand the murder of innocents because of their beliefs.

F*ck islham.

89 I was there for three months straight with the police department. I woke up crying this morning remembering those we lost that day. The things we did to recover the dead, cataloging body parts for evidence.
As I type this, I’m sitting in the parking lot of Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center waiting for my yearly appointment for an MRI of my pancreas and liver.
I will not forget nor will I forgive. God save us all.

Absolutely unbelievable. But the veteran was John McCain who, in retrospect, probably intentionally threw that election. Remember when he suspended his campaign to “deal with the financial crisis”… O didn’t

95 As everyone here knows there was a previous jihadist attempt to blow up the WTC, led by the Blind Sheik, that failed.

Our new Congressman, Adam Hamawy, who will be elected in November (he's the official Democrat nominee so November is a formality) is a devotee of the Blind Sheik, his translator and personal assistant for years, and a character witness at his various trials.

Shame on the voters of this district, and shame on the Democrat Party.
