I was talking to someone who doesn't follow the news much and she had a convo where 3 mid 30's regular women were telling her about the case and they were all completely convinced that the husband killed the kids despite there being no evidence of that and even Lindsay Clancy's reps aren't claiming that.
It's a serious problem that so much of society now views news as a form of entertainment to the point where reality and facts become optional. They just go with the story they think sounds better to them.
It's why people, for example, listen to Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson, and others who are consistently saying things that are provably false and insane. Conspiracies are now the norm and regularly people are consistently buying into them without evidence. It's a serious threat to a functioning society.

Plus: an actual Lindsay Clancy Super-Fan has done what the TikTok brained AWFULs told her was every woman's right to do, and hanged her 11th trimester fetus -- also known as a 2-year-old toddler -- and then declared she was temporarily psychotic and would like her book deal and Oprah appearance now.

She's claiming she suffers from "grief psychosis" so I assume a jury made up mostly of Angry Karen Nurses and Teachers with TikTok Brain will acquit her too.

An Illinois mother allegedly hanged her 2-year-old son that she described as the "anti-Christ" -- hours after discussing the Lindsay Clancy case with friends, authorities said.
Corie Walsh, 38, is facing first-degree murder charges after one of her neighbors found Walsh's son, Barrett, hanging from the rafters in the family's basement, FOX 32 reported.
Walsh allegedly told investigators she killed her young son because he's the "anti-Christ" and "devil," according to prosecutors.
Little Barrett was found with his feet off the ground, and a ligature around his neck.

Mass apparently has both a different rule than most states on burden of proof. But it also has a two prong test. State has to prove she could control her urges to commit murder AND know was wrong. The control of urges (volition) is the old irresistible urge defense that has been debunked years ago by psychology and expunged from law in most places but still present in a few places like MA (see Anatomy of a Murder which was based on a real trial on how that works. )

I don't completely buy it. I believe she had mental health issues, but she deliberately concealed them, didn't get them treated properly through her deliberately actions, plotted the murder of her children well in advance, and put together a detailed plan to avoid anyone interrupting her in the execution of the killings. That's not a sudden snap, and it's not an irresistible compulsion. The fake suicide attempt was just part of her coverup to gain sympathy and strengthen her pre-determined legal defense, along with her statements immediately after being found (asking for attorney and status of her legs, not of her children). She knew it was wrong, planned it over time, and avoided multiple off ramps for assistance. I don't know if it was some kind of thing to hurt her husband, or some kind of relief from mental issues, but I don't buy it being an irresistible compulsion.

The insanity defense in Massachussets provides that they're not guilty if the person is lacking in criminal responsibility -- which means they suffer from a mental disease or defect, AND as a result, either is substantially unable to appreciate the criminality or wrongfulness of the conduct OR is substantially unable to conform her conduct to the requirements of the law.

So she could know the murders are wrong but be unable -due to psychosis -to stop herself from doing it. Not saying that happened. But the law is just a little different from some other states.

Court showed she was inconsistent taking meds and at the time was not really influenced by her prescription meds. Dosage in blood was too low for any therapeutic remedy. Another thing showing that she is probably faking and just wanted her children dead as a nuisance.

The reason is character evidence is a very tricky thing on its effect on juries and what is and is not permissible in court. Rules of evidence frown upon trying to show the person is bad so they must have done the bad thing. You can get around it but that also allows the other side to bring in character witnesses who always say they were a fantastic person.

Sometimes the issue is hashed out in pretrial over character evidence (and you have to inform the other side that you are going to use it) and the jury never hears that.

I get called up for jury duty regularly, most recently being about six months after moving to Florida. I've answered every call, including the one in California that hit within two months of my moving out.

Everything that goes through Suez must go through that chokepoint, so it is important. But it’s far easier for America to use the pacific route to get ships to the region than it is for the Euros (obviously)

Fully agree and this is my problem with the law. Specifically, should the law make a cutout for mentally-ill people? I honestly struggle with this for the reason you suggest. If Lindsay Clancy can dodge execution, then why shouldn’t Decarlos Brown Jr. (who was ruled incompetent to stand trial)? Either way, in this case the law does provide a cutout and the defense successfully used it, which is absolutely her right.

Oldest a 5 year old girl, in daycare 4 days a week. The next a 3 year old boy, strangled & left in his father's office. He had also been in daycare, though not as frequent as his sister. The 3rd an 8 month old boy, strangled back down in the basement near his sister. He was transported to a hospital for care, and then to evaluate if brain dead.

A small pool of blood was found on the carpeting near the baby which seemed to mean his mother returned to the basement and stood there after slashing herself up with a kitchen knife.

I doubt it was from regret.
