Manufacturing Jobs Surge Thanks to Trump's Tariffs and America First Agenda
People with steady jobs have confidence and people with confidence can oppose the Regime.Trump and Vance are also promoting their planned reversal of an LBJ-era rule that homes with a stay-at-home mother are not eligible for family subsidies available to homes with only working parents.
American manufacturing is on the rebound -- and that good news could hardly come at a better time for President Donald Trump, as Republicans gird themselves for the midterm elections just two months from now. Manufacturing isn't the only sector that's on a hiring spree; businesses across the board added 162,000 new jobs in August. Even The New York Times called the latest employment numbers "zesty." The paper quoted T. Rowe Price's chief US economist, Blerina Uruci: "It's a very good report . . . And it perhaps shows that financial conditions more broadly are not that tight." The workforce participation rate rose as well -- which matters, because people who drop out of the labor force are invisible in unemployment rates that only count those who are looking for work. This economy is pulling Americans who'd given up hope off the sidelines and putting them to work. That's a success not only for Trump's economic policy, but for his immigration crackdown, too: It's no longer so easy for companies to abandon Americans by hiring foreign workers instead. Establishment economists predicted none of this. They were certain Trump's tariffs would be catastrophic, and that American industry would contract without constant infusions of foreign labor. Relentless efforts to stop the president's economic agenda in the courts created uncertainty that's bad for business. Companies have to make plans based on a predictable environment of taxation and regulation -- if nobody knows whether tariffs will remain in place, nobody can afford to make long-range decisions about re-shoring jobs and buying from American suppliers instead of sources overseas. That's what the president's foes -- who want maximum economic globalization -- were counting on. ... Yet all the lawfare of the past year hasn't stopped the America First employment agenda from succeeding. The results have been especially impressive in manufacturing, where the latest numbers show the biggest growth coming from jobs that make long-lasting products. As Peter Navarro, former director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, notes in RealClearMarkets, "Manufacturing employment rose by 16,000 in August, with nearly all of that gain coming from durable-goods manufacturing."

The White House is reportedly planning to reverse a half-century of damage to the nuclear family by rewarding married parents who stay home and raise their children, as Vice President JD Vance appears poised to officially announce the program's addition on Thursday at the Republican National Convention's (RNC) Dallas gathering. "A two-parent family is the best place in which to raise a kid, and certainly it's a sacrifice. But our job is to raise good children who become good citizens, and so I think that this is an important initiative," Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks told Just The News. The administration is drafting a rule that would let stay-at-home married parents receive subsidies from the $12 billion Child Care and Development Fund. Vance has made the initiative a priority, telling the crowd at his Marietta, Georgia rally on Saturday: "What's left over with the ashes of what they've torn down is socialism. Well, we've got a different approach, my friends. We want to invest in you. We want to fight for you, and we want to fight for your children's future." "We're going to defeat socialism by giving you a stake in the American dream and that's how we're going to win the future. Our goal is to reverse a concensus that has screwed over communities like this one for decades," Vance concluded. Under the draft, one married parent could receive aid to care for their own child while a spouse works at least 35 hours a week. Unmarried couples and nonworking single parents would remain ineligible. The program now serves about 1.3 million children, mostly in households headed by single-working parents. Critics say expanding eligibility without extra funding would squeeze current recipients and providers, and the rule will need White House approval and a public comment period to take effect next .

The estimates I see are that married stay at home mothers voted Trump 57-43 versus 52-47 for married but not stay at home.
So I'd pay money to get more of that 52% into the 57%.

I do see a fair number of couples where both work and the argument is they need both salaries.
When you run the math on taxes, daycare, and the other incidentals though the lesser earning spouse is barely actually earning anything so a small bump here might be enough to have that spouse just stay home

Another point on this - the left works politically because people get paid to be part of the left. We identify this as socialism and it usually is, but the bigger problem isn't we have socialist measures it is that we are paying people to be leftwingers.

The counter attack the left seems to have settled on is that most job growth has been to females. I have seen that meme all over.
I think what has happened is that most of the deportees are male, so US men have significant job growth, but it is replacing foreign men and so does not appear in the selected data.
US women are both seeing jobs replacing foreign men, and the growth in the economy, but they are not seeing near as much decrease do to deportations.

If things are so bad back home give them a few months of military training and some rifles.
But the real answer is that in most of the world they have surplus men and the easiest way for Muslim/African/Latin American countries to stabilize their political orders is to send those men somewhere else to cause trouble instead of back home

I haven't made up my mind yet, but I'll admit I lean towards thinking we're going to have to do everything we can to encourage people to have children, and that the ones we most need to encourage are the smarter, harder working ones who are currently the least fertile cohort.

I have mixed feelings about this. If you imagine a 2 parent household with both parents working, this new policy will be an incentive for some to have one parent quit working and then grab the subsidy. It's a bad incentive.

I was a latchkey kid as both my parents worked. I managed to stay out of trouble for the most part. That's unfortunately not the case for others left on their own.

Housing costs are astronomical compared to what they used to be, and if you don't want to live in a hovel or a ghetto, you're going to be paying a lot of money so your kids can grow up safe and in a decent school, and that means both parents work.

Yea, it was Trump's idea as were all the tax cuts but Congress appropriates money and then the Executive is legally bound to spend. He's allowed to make some modification as Trump is proposing by sending some of the appropriated funds to parents instead of to LaQuisha but he still has to spend it.
We need a better Congress if we really want spending cuts of any significance.

His take was there is no way at this point we are ever going to reign in any sort of government spending and it is going to continue to grow so why can't we toss some $$$$ to parents who want to stay home and raise kids.
He is not wrong. But I disagree with this new subsidy because like all other forms of government handouts it will be rife with fraud and illegals getting money.
