Yes.

Reminds me of an interview I saw with Mel Gibson early in his career when he tells a story about first coming to the US after Mad Max....he was brought to a NYE party in New York. He went to the rooftop where the 'real' party was and he saw someone that just presented as pure evil......he felt he was in the presence of Satan and saw evil personified...........

126 Well, Hopper captures the viewer with his realistic people and their natural poses. Add the recognizable and relatable settings. But it's his use of light that makes his work so extraordinary. It sets a mood and evokes an emotional response from the audience. In this case it is the complete joy of nature: brilliant sea and matching sky, the light captured by the white hull and sail. The people are relaxed. You can smell the ocean, hear the light wind and the sounds of the day sailer, feel the warmth of the sun. But it isn't static. The soft swells affecting the boat and the forward movement denoted by the sail keep it from being completely still. Growing up on the ocean, this painting brings back wonderful memories.

An old friend of mine had a '69 Corvette in his garage, beautiful car, red and white. He fought tooth and nail to get the CA plate "I DIG 69". DMV thought it was obscene, but as it was a classic 1969 Corvette, restored, he successfully got it through the CA bureaucracy.

Saw "Hope"(2026) yesterday.

It's a Korean horror/SF movie that was popular in Korea earlier this year made by Na Hong-jin, the same guy who wrote/directed "The Chaser" and "The Wailing". Both of which are pretty great.

Eh, "Hope" wasn't particularly good.

It could easily lose 30-40 minutes and be much better, but still not very good.

The plot concerns some hunters and police in a small seaside Korean village trying to stop/hunt down Alien Folk who are killing people.

Basically, the movie comes to no end and is borderline nonsense at the conclusion.

This clearly an unfinished story and part 2 if greenly will tell the aliens side of the story.

The humans are often depicted a as dickweeds so, you can probably figure out where that's going.

Not worth seeing on the big screen. See it online when it starts streaming if you wish, but-

Meh. Very meh. You have been warned.

I have it as an ebook (the Kindle price is a lot more than when I got my copy) and just checked the table of contents. Today's painting wasn't used. I recall I really enjoyed it and may spring for a used hardcover version. Each story is preceded by a decent copy of the painting it is based on. I suspect you would enjoy it.

Used to. Not as much anymore.

Tons of them around the inside of the Cape and South Shore. They are well suited to areas with a lot of shoals.

Not my cup of tea but they are pretty.

Nautical Lesson Approaching. Give way.

If the wind is first coming over the port side of the boat, it is on port tack. When sailing straight down wind, whichever side the boom is not on is considered the side over which the wind is coming. Thus, one could change tack without changing direction, merely by bringing the boom and sail across to the other side - technically a jibe, since the bow is not passing through the direction of the wind.
