Yes, The Verge. Yes you are. You are all the assholes.
Today: Finished hammering Ada into alignment with Ruby (you won't believe this one weird trick), extended my home computer emulator with a tile and sprite editor, a wavetable editor, a music tracker, Forth, and local networking, and it's still under 64k, and built the application server of the suite.

Plus I bought an asset library of tiles and sprites for low-resolution adventure games - the tile size is 8x8 pixels, perfect for a retro look.

The tileset is 800MB. The computer I'm emulating doesn't have even 800kB.

Speaking of which, my initial design allowed for 128k of ROM. The Atari ST, which came a little over a year later, had 192k, and the Amiga had 256k - although neither one shipped with working ROMs; you needed a boot disk. So that seemed reasonable.

I've so far shoehorned in a Basic interpreter, a Basic compiler, a full screen editor, an assembler/disassembler, the above listed modules, and now Logo, and I'm just shy of 64k.

15 If I'm being cynical, Republicans are naive: such a network of cameras will be built eventually anyway in the US and the left will cooperate for now in bringing it down only to ensure that it will be built by them when the time comes and that they are be the ones who take advantage of it.

Turned a lot if the offending settings off at original setup.

I have never in my life felt like talking to my remote control to get it to do something, so I never turned the Voice Control on.

Went through the menu again just now and switched some settings off that had been turned on after a recent software update, deleted Ad/Content information, and Reset the Ad ID.

It’s ridiculous that LG feels this irresistible urge to nickel & dime the customer even on their OLEDs which are not cheap and shouldn’t need to be subsidized by marketing the customer’s information.

If you can’t make enough money in South Korea charging $800 to $4000 for millions of TVs, without resorting to data brokering, you are doing it wrong.

Re-recording dozens upon dozens of lost tracks for my big playlist. For most opera tracks, a number of excerpts are collected into one large track. I can record the performance and tracks from what the spreadsheet says ought to be there and the final product has a time lumpily different, sometimes by several minutes.

84 My TV is a . . . I forget the brand name, but it was bought in the fall of 2020 at Target. Partly because the price was good, and partly because Target was not being a bunch of dicks about wearing a face diaper in the store. My old CRT TV dated to 1996, so it had had a tremendous run.

A lot of these foreigner drivers with CDLs are riding with Amazon trailers on the back.

93 84 My TV is a . . . I forget the brand name, but it was bought in the fall of 2020 at Target. Partly because the price was good, and partly because Target was not being a bunch of dicks about wearing a face diaper in the store. My old CRT TV dated to 1996, so it had had a tremendous run.

The one before that, my first color set, dated to 1984.

Several TVs in the house (I only watch one, the rest are leftovers). Most are Samsungs and old Vizio flatscreen from like 2010.

I chose LG for the OLED because I liked the picture quality and features. I didn’t like the price much, but they are all ridiculously expensive so what are you gonna do?

Probably should have went with another Samsung, although they really aren’t much better than LG when it comes to data spying or customer service.

On the Samsung now, a much better phone, I've never activated that and am blessedly free of anything but texts, phone calls, and the occasional weather alert.

The early compilers in the 1980s were expensive and slow. Further revisions in Ada 2005, 2012, and 2022 have added more and more capabilities and syntactic sugar to the language (including changing the OO syntax). I much preferred even the 1995 edition to C++. Ada is a safer language, and is used in critical applications like avionics. SPARK 2014 (not Apache Spark) takes Ada's safety quite a bit further. Rust's big selling point is memory safety, and it is an interesting language. Adding something like its borrow-checker to Ada/SPARK is something some people are exploring, but won't be in the next revision. I really miss Ada's incredibly sophisticated type system in Rust.
