That is not to say that it can't be done. There are far too many successful, well adjusted people in wheelchairs to assume that it is impossible. In college I roomed with several students in wheelchairs, and their injuries ranged from very low on the spine, to so high up that one required assistance breathing. They dealt with their injuries and their lives just like everyone else. It was a continuum, with a few who were amazingly independent and charged through the days, to one who was a passive slug who demanded that others do everything for him. So...pretty much like all of humanity! Why do I mention this? Well, there is a woman in the news with a total transection at T5-T6, and I wonder whether there might be some justice in her future, even if it might not come from our legal system. F-1 Williams president Frank Williams was a quadriplegic for many years, still went to every race and ran tje operations. Of course suspect money wasn't a issue.

Translated into plain English, the AfD should be right on the doorstep of an absolute majority. Hard to say; it depends on how the exact numbers shake out.

And once it happens, the 'inner voice questions' start coming up: How long? Will I ever walk again? Is there any kind of operation that can make me whole again? Thing is, I CAN imagine being forced to live like that - and it's not a pretty picture. If we're all relatively 'healthy' and 'mobile', just thank God for letting us live as normal a life as possible.

I'd never get epidural injections or surgery in the thoracic or cervical spine unless I was at high risk for paralysis and it was a last resort. Lumbar, maybe. The spinal canal narrows significantly from lumbar to cervical. Much less room for error or bad technique.

Posted by: Quarter Twenty Why he did it. Maryam @hell_line0 Just to clarify: Patrick Clancy walked away with his 400k Microsoft job, the 1.7M gofundme, a life insurance payout on all 3 kids, and funds from the sale of the house, plus a new wife and a new kid, Meanwhile, Lindsay Clancy is left with no kids, no money, no house, no job, no legs, and maybe no freedom. Where PC would have paid millions for alimony / child support in divorce, he makes 4-6 million off of their deaths. Money is the root of 90% of crime, but that’s not suspicious to police? Posted by: Oddbob at September 06, 2026 12:28 PM (vTZFs) CDU is Christian Democrats, i.e. the RINOs. Die Linke (literally, "The Left") and the SPD (Social Democrats) are left-wing, the Greens speak for themselves, and the FDP are too small to matter. Right now, it looks like the AfD will be one seat short of an absolute majority, but this is the first exit poll; historically, these are broadly accurate in German elections, but the final numbers could edge up or down a bit, and that could be significant. It's still not impossible that the AfD does get a majority, though I doubt it. Posted by: Dr. T at September 06, 2026 12:31 PM (lHPJf) 44

Lizzie Borden kept changing her story as to what she was doing and was seen burning a dress in the oven which she said was too stained to be worn. Yet no one, save the police and prosecution, could believe that a “good woman” like Lizzie Borden could have killed her parents with a axe. She was found not guilty. But you know what children say, to this very day: “Lizzie Borden took an ax/And gave her mother forty whacks/When she saw what she had done/She gave her father forty-one.”
