As Alex Thompson reported on Twitter/X, Harris easily leads the field with 42% among Democrat respondents, having picked up five points since last month. Gavin Newsom trails badly in second place with only 18%, dropping six points from July. Everyone else is in single digits; Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Pete Buttigieg, Jon Ossoff, and Josh Shapiro are in a virtual tie for third, scoring between seven and nine percent each. Harris also has commanding leads among black and Hispanic Democrats.

Morrissey also notes the politician with the highest favorable ratings, and it's a surprise:

Harris comes in third, Trump edges her out for second, and the politician with the highest favorables is... RFKJr.

So the media's ability to drive hate at people they don't like is now, basically, gone.

Putin comes in last? Quick, Tuq'r, do another sit-down ball-washing.

I have a quick thought about RFKJr. Give this as much consideration as I gave it, which is none.

The parties have flipped as far as trust in institutions. I know that part is obvious. Leftists used to be the ones always screaming that America was a rigged game for the oligarchs and Big Corporations are crushing the common man.

But now, of course, conservatives have woken up to how absolutely foul -- and subverted by Marxists -- our institutions are. Meanwhile, thanks to Barack Obama, the CIA and FBI have been purged of most conservatives, who were replaced, of course, with Boomer Marxists.

Here's the slightly interesting part about this: This is why the media absolutely lost their minds over Trump and the Unbearable Threat of the New Right. The media had always coddled and supported leftwing revoiutionaries, of course, supporting Bill Ayers' "rehabilitation" and telling us that left-wing rioting was "the voice of the unheard." They feel that any violence committed by the left may be regrettable but is Useful in the Greater Scheme of Things.

But the possibility of the right becoming revolutionary? That's just a Threat to the Very Foundations of Our Republic. Were the right to become violent, that violence would just be a complete negative. There would be no useful "lessons" for the ruling class to learn. Riots would not be the voice of the unheard, but the voice of the deplorables.

Conservatives aren't allowed to talk about a rigged system and being oppressed! That's our grift! Conservatives are supposed to eat their slop and say thank-you!

It's the job of conservatives to shore up the pillars upholding civilization! It's our job to undermine those pillars and bring them down! If conservatives stop propping civilization up, it will crash from all of our endless subversions and treachery, and then we'll have to learn how to hunt!

Now, as to RFKJr.'s particular ambit: As a conservative, I used to roll my eyes and laugh off the hippies who would talk about Big Pharma and Big Ag and Big Processed Food putting out products that made us sicker, not healthier.

You probably did too. (And you might still roll your eyes.)

But for many on the right, our skepticism of our corporate overlords and governmental institutions is now at its highest point in American history, and that includes intense skepticism, if not outright hostility, towards Big Pharma and the bullshit "health" experts.

And the corrupt corporations whose C-suites are now dominated by woke civilization-razing leftists.

Anyway, RFKJr.'s brand of health-nannyism would have been a non-starter on the right ten years ago but now many of us are at least curious about it, or even supportive.

And even on the left, many of the Health Nuts have not abandoned their skepticism about Big Phrama and Big Ag just because the Democrat Party now tells them that's Traitor-Talk and they must worship Anthony Fauci and Wear the Fucking Face-Mask forever.

And anyway, RFKJr's form of health-nannying doesn't feel scoldy or even like nannying. He has Some Questions. I do too.

Harvard-Harris' summer polling since 2018 has shown to be more accurate than their final polling. Off by an average of like 1% or less every election (their finals are closer to about 3-4% off).

The vast majority of summer polling is response bias bullshit at the best of times, but HH seems to have gotten the secret sauce.

Does that mean it's right this year? Not necessarily. Best pollsters become terrible pollsters the next cycle all the time (I think it was from 2010 to 2012 that Rasmussen went from absolute best to one of the worst).

But, I'd take this polling result with less salt than almost any other poll we have today.

55 Mark Penn (who runs the poll) appears to have an axe to grind. He was Hillary Clinton’s chief strategist in 2008 and apparently was blamed for her loss. When she ran again, he wasn’t asked back and that seems to have bothered him and he turned to Trump.

The 44% figure seems so unlikely because that’s like average for a President these days and would suggest he hasn’t suffered from Iran. It actually makes me more confident in Dems winning the House because if at 44% Trump it’s R+2 and a lot of polls have Trump at 32 or even 30, were we to split the difference at like 38-39 it still sounds like D+4-5

Doomers will accept it this move the goal posts when it’s D+8 on Election Day.

Can’t wait to watch their September/October polls magically swing D+6 when they’re actually getting graded or risk getting deleted from every polling aggregate site.

we did a "taste test" of my green beans vs store bought - regular and "fancy" French thin ones from the store - mine killed it

and wax and green beans are fantastic to grow! and keep producing all summer long!

same with lettuce and garlic and tomatoes and peppers and definitely the berries...

I do all my food stuff in containers separate from the regular yard to keep the deer and squirrels etc away. so not a huge footprint but you can grow LOADS of beans and peas with trellising (and berries)

When undigested food is rotting in people’s guts it might be a good time to reexamine some of the cost/benefit analysis.

Prosecution pissed off jury with not delivering on their opening statement...the close didn't matter b/c folks stopped listening by then...

Going for 1st degree and removing their ability to deal (b/c apparently you can't in the state if you charge 1st) was a mistake. Removing the lesser charges before trial (strangling was a mistake). Wildly underplaying her mental illness was a mistake.

Should have started with manslaughter and strangling...should have offered plea to max on strangling with commitment to psych hospital with option to prison if mental capacity ever fully fixed during the required incarceration term.

If found not guilty due to insanity, the judge CAN have her committed to a state mental hospital. But, he doesn't have to.

And if she is sent to a mental hospital, she can be deemed OK to reenter society. Granted the prosecution gets a voice in those proceedings, but she could very well be free in 3-5yrs or less.

Well, sorry but the regulatory capture is real and horrifying. I suppose you could make a case for it, but at the end of the day, its pretty obvious that the most likely reason is that the people who are supposed to be riding herd on pharma are getting a reward for services rendered while supervising pharma. So, while your personal meetings may not have had on the agenda skirting public safety, one wonders why pharma would hire so many regulators into high paying jobs, if they weren't trying to skirt public safety. Now if you do something where the drug is taken orally instead of by injection, or develop a controlled/sustained release formulation, you can get a patent on the administration of the drug, but not the drug itself.

I agree that a lot of men have kinda gone overboard, and are no longer joking about repealing the 19th but most of were really caught off guard by the overwhelming insanity of ordinary women regarding this case. And its not just the fringes. Tik Tok Brain has really rotted a lot of women's minds. Even ShoeOnHead was losing her stuff over the reactions.

It it even a large minority of women? No. But its WAY TOO FREAKING MANY.
