How Is This Even a Question? Texas Establishment RINOs Debate Whether They Will Support Ken Paxton Over James "Jesus Has Six Gender" Talarico

"Lousy loser" John Cornyn refuses to campaign with Ken Paxton.

He's a real conservative you guys, he really wants to beat the Democrats.

Sen. John Cornyn slammed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton as a "lazy" and "poor campaigner" Friday as he explained why he won't help the Republican Senate nominee in his race against Democrat James Talarico.

Cornyn, who lost to Paxton in the bitter Texas GOP Senate primary runoff election earlier this summer, explained in an interview with the Texas Tribune that while he wants to see Republicans hold their majority in the upper chamber after the midterms, he isn't going to fundraise for Paxton because he hasn't made a compelling case to Lone Star State voters.

"Paxton's a poor campaigner," Cornyn told the outlet. "He's lazy and doesn't raise money. And he basically is not offering a very compelling case for his election.

"He's making this harder than it needs to be."

...

"This is unfortunately shaping up to be a close and I hope not disastrous election," Cornyn said. "But it ain't looking good right now."

Byron York: What is the GOPe doing?

AS TALARICO GOES FROM BAD TO WORSE, GOP DEBATES SUPPORT FOR PAXTON. There's been a lot of commentary lately about the faults of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Republican candidate for Senate. There are many such faults, and the impeached and scandal-ridden Paxton is widely recognized among GOP strategists as a poor candidate.

But take a moment to remember the utter terribleness of Paxton's opponent, Democratic nominee James Talarico. You've heard his greatest hits. His belief that there are six genders. That God is nonbinary. His "non-meat" campaign. His claim to be "a Christian who hates Christianity." And more.

Now, there's something else to consider. It comes from September 2020, when Talarico was running for the Texas legislature and took part in a Zoom forum run by the Sierra Club. He was asked what he would do to "fight for climate justice" for "communities of color" that "receive the most harm from the impacts of climate change."

"I'm so thankful that you asked this question, and also thankful that young activists have really drawn the link between climate change and white supremacy and capitalism in our country," Talarico answered. "And I think only understanding the ways that all three of those oppressive systems work together are we going to be able to begin the process of dismantling them."

...

Meanwhile, some Republican and conservative commentators have spent a good bit of time dumping on Paxton. National Review published a piece headlined, "Everyone is Edging Away from Ken Paxton," which said a "horrid smell" was "filling the room" in Texas -- the "stench of potential electoral doom" brought about by the Paxton campaign.

Conservative radio host Erick Erickson is on an anti-Paxton crusade, writing, "The only thing for which Paxton has ever shown prodigious energy is philandery and possibly corruption. He is a lazy candidate in a heated race, and laziness is not a flaw you can fundraise your way around."

Oh, he's repeating the lines from the GOPe op. What a surprise from this brain surgeon.

...

[Conservative radio host Steve] Deace argued that "uniparty" Republicans are the ones bashing Paxton right now, and they would be perfectly happy for him to lose and Talarico to win. (Deace called Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), defeated by Paxton in the GOP primary, a "uniparty stooge.") If true conservatives don't vote for Paxton, Deace said, they would give the "uniparty" Republicans "exactly what they want" while at the same time would "permit Democrats to inflict absolutely all their demoniac madness upon you without reservation." The bottom line, Deace argued, is that true conservatives should vote for Paxton to stop Democratic awfulness.

That was the message Cruz sent in his Tuesday appearance with Fox News's Laura Ingraham. "Some of the Republicans that are throwing rocks at Ken Paxton, my message to them is: Enough! Stop your b****ing," Cruz said. Citing previous years in which centrist Republicans urged conservative voters to support centrist nominees, Cruz continued, "My answer to everyone whining: Shut up and support the nominee, and don't hand Texas over to a communist lunatic."

No. There are more important issues, like Erick Erickson's capacity for grifting.

This was written the day of the Dobbs decision. One can understand opposing Dobbs. One can understand wanting to overturn it. But advocating for what would, in effect, be a Federal Abortion Service, staffed by a Federal Abortion Corps, seems...out there. But classic Talarico.

talariconationalabortionservice.png

I'm sure his communist staff will tell you, if you ask for comment, that this "cringey language" "misses the mark" and that he believes in capitalism and Jesus.

So I wouldn't bother asking his communist staff.

The NRSC and GOP telling Texas voters that they are stupid for choosing Paxton over Cornyn (we like our gun rights - go figure) and withholding any funding they would have normally put into the race is the establishment trying to rule over the plebes. Cornyn wasn't a "safe choice" for our rights. So if the rest of the nation wants to turn Texas blue then good luck ever getting another republican majority or president. Nice Texas is gone, so is the nation.

Thanks coastal elites!

Here's Steve Deace's take:

Steve Deace
@SteveDeaceShow

Here's some tough love. But it's why I make the better than average bucks.

Ken Paxton is one of the finest public servants in this country. His work as Texas AG would rank among the most impactful of any statewide elected official in this nation (DeSantis is in his own GOAT tier). He would be a tremendous upgrade at Senator not just for Texas, but the country. But he's also made a mess of his personal life, and the residual impact of that is costing him some support (including financially). So, again, anyone that tells you sexual ethics are strictly a private matter is dead wrong. An entire state/country may suffer consequences. Paxton's personal failing is giving people an objection they otherwise wouldn't have to an exemplary AG. The Biblical model always requires us to first accept responsibility for our own actions, and the role we played in our own situation.

However, given how little we know much of Washington DC's uniparty cares about marriage, family, and sexual ethics that alone doesn't come close to explain him (and thus the country) being hung out to dry in this crucial Texas Senate race. There's no moral high ground within the uniparty. Only vested interests. And uniparty Republicans would much prefer to be in the minority. Because in that case they can raise all kinds of money to ensure their positions off how bad the Democrats are, with no expectations to do anything about it.

Thus, you will not be punishing these Republicans by staying home but just yourself. You will be giving them exactly what they want, prestige with no responsibility, while you will permit Democrats to inflict absolutely all their demoniac madness upon you without reservation. Nothing new is coming. There is no alternative to the GOP possible within any time frame what's left of our way of life would survive. You won't teach anyone any lessons. Most of these Republicans would rather lose to Democrats than lose control of the party to you, anyway.

And yes, this is a poopy position to be in. But it's the position we are in generationally, and our job is to do the best we can with the times that we have. The best we can do is slow down as much of this Democrat madness as possible, while also keeping Republicans in power to expose themselves in the hopes that creates more primaries where a Paxton can beat an exposed uniparty stooge like Cornyn.

Again, not a great spot. But it is the spot. Short of revival, it's all we have left. And it's still by far the best country in the world. So suck it up and occupy until He comes. This is the best we can do.

Fat shabby one-pair-o'-pants grifter Jonah Goldberg, who swiped the research for "his" book Liberal Fascism from writers at the Claremont Institute, accuses Steve Deace of being paid to say this.

Jonah Goldberg
@JonahDispatch

This is the kind of opinion that makes me assume someone is being compensated to offer it. Not saying that's the case. But I find it difficult to understand how a person could come by it honestly.

Who's signing your checks, Jonah? I know it's not Republicans.

Is it Pierre Omidyar?

Here's what it's about -- here's all it's ever been about.

The corporate GOPe uniparty traitors, represented by their paid mouthpieces at CATO, want open borders and will accept nothing less.

This guy's argument: Illegal immigration only exists because you made illegal immigration illegal.

And murder only exists because we criminalized killing someone.

Brilliant.

It's interesting to note the contrast between Texas and Michigan. In the 2022 cycle, the GOPe tried to purge Trumpism and it backfired in a bad way, and aided by Dem chicanery we got a staggeringly weak ticket that gave the Dems total control and they ran wild.

As a result of that experience, the Michigan GOP pulled itself together and the Establishment folks came to accept Trump as the way things are now. Mike Rogers is a bland centrist, but he knows what time it is.

Texas has not yet reached the point, and I'm sure the calculation is that blowing a Senate seat won't hurt Texas too badly.

Paxton has continued to trumpet his record against the Biden White House, frequently claiming an 80% win rate, which a Texas Tribune analysis found is overstated. A lawsuit’s lifecycle is complicated, and there are many ways to measure a win. By the most generous metrics, Texas got the outcome it wanted in about two-thirds of the cases it was involved in.

138 My take: The Uniparty bought Cornyn long, long ago and counted on him to do as he was told, in exchange for some money under the table each year. As deputy to Thune, he was a key cog in the Uniparty sausage making machine.

So, the Uniparty hates Paxton for two reasons.

1. Petty Revenge. He displaced a loyal bought-and-paid-for cog in the Uniparty sausage-making machine.

2. The main reason. The Uniparty is unsure Paxton will play ball on the Uniparty Team. Maybe they'll eventually be able to buy him. Maybe not. Cabals like the Uniparty intensely dislike and fear uncertainty of achieving the cabal's goals. The Uniparty is totally confident it can buy Talarico, and on the cheap.

Was talking to a friend today about this. I’ve seen a few anti-Talafreako ads by conservative groups but I haven’t seen one Paxton ad where he’s actually in the ad and speaking. Not on YouTube, regular tv, anywhere. Meanwhile, Freako keeps running his “on the porch with paw paw ads” constantly. I’m starting to get a little nervous. Never underestimate the stupidity of the electorate.
Posted by: TxAnn at September 03, 2026 06:37 PM (SjAWL)

Yep.

Despite everything conservatives websites are reporting about Talarico's freakishness he has been pretty focused on real issues. He's not like Beto, a white man pretending to be Hispanic and acting like the second coming of Obama. Strictly in terms of advertising Talarico is on point. And unlike Kamala's embarrassing ad campaign that we all loved to mock, Talarico's show a lot more confidence in their normality (if that makes sense).

Paxton is nowhere.

I'm not saying Talarico will win but I'm saying he has a real shot. Sad face.

152 I am a block walking machine. Local Republicans know I walked 2/3 of my precinct in 2 months during the 2024 primary.

(We are a one-party county, meaning the Republican nominee for county offices runs unopposed in November, so if you want to vote in a contested election for those seats you have to do it in the primary.)

So I kicked ass for my candidate during the 2024 GOP primary, and when I asked the local leaders when I could do the same for Paxton in the general, i.e., when could I get door hangers and yard signs for my precinct, I got shrugs. I reached out to the Paxton campaign, and all I got was requests for money.

I'm willing to do the work, but it's like nobody really wants me to.

Paxton is going to win my county no matter what, but if they want to win the state they need the biggest GOTV in the areas where the most Republicans live.

In 2018, Cruz got 52% turnout from my county. This year we have about 95k registered voters and about 81% of them supported Trump in '24.

GOTV happens when volunteers walk the streets. Ad buys don't cut it. Somebody in the Paxton campaign should pay attention.

If you don't want to win BIG, you don't really want to win.

That's his humor. Dud. He probably pulls legs off of insects in his spare time when not roasting toads for pleasure.

His squinty, too close together beady eyes are evolving into Canadian Cyclops.

-----

Well, its a little easier to understand when we realize that the left makes zero stands about morality and normalcy. So when they go to sex clubs, have multiple lovers, get caught with a member of the "wrong" sex, none of it violates any of the things they pretend to stand for. But when one of *ours* does something like that, they asked for it--they're likely on record saying the very thing they were caught doing was wrong.

237 Digging thru my old scrapbooks I found an article containing a brief bio of my Italian grandpa published in the Detroit News on Dec 8 1986. It starts:

"I came from Switzerland to Detroit on July 7 1926 with my father and two brothers. It was mandatory we all find a job and not rely on the government so I stayed on Ellis Island for three days until I found a friend to sign for me. My first job was in Detroit as a dishwasher at the Statler Hotel... I worked six days a week for $2 a day...."

A "nation of immigrants" yep. Immigrants who were not only required to immediately find work but HAVE A CITIZEN RESIDENT SIGN THAT THEIMMIGRANT HAD IMMEDIATE WORK.

Leftists who committed moral offenses, whom the DNC and Uniparty want to resurrect, can do an apology tour on the network morning and late-night shows and are back in business.

Conservatives who attempt such a resurrection are only successful if the Uniparty wants to regain their public services. If not, a morally-failed Republican's apology tour becomes a nightmare. The infotainment show hosts will only ask questions about why he did what he did and why anyone should believe he won't do it again. And introduce new accusations. No questions about how and why he learned from his failings and has become a better person.

@DylanByers
NEW: The Maria Bartiromo backstory, per multiple sources familiar....

Maria Bartiromo wanted to pursue a story related to China and 2020 election voting conspiracies... a major sensitivity for the network given its Dominion and Smartmatic lawsuits.

A Fox Business executive sent a text to Fox Business producers informing them that that story could not go to air.

Bartiromo took a screen shot of the guidance and sent it to senior White House officials.

Fox News leadership learned about that after receiving a call from the White House, which they viewed as a fireable offense.

Fox pulled Bartiromo from air after Aug. 9. She was fired today. I have also learned that her executive producer Patrick Ignozzi was also fired after the annoucnement.

Maria had resigned her contract with Fox last February.

261 So, again, anyone that tells you sexual ethics are strictly a private matter is dead wrong. An entire state/country may suffer consequences. Paxton's personal failing is giving people an objection they otherwise wouldn't have to an exemplary AG. The Biblical model always requires us to first accept responsibility for our own actions, and the role we played in our own situation.

-----------------

Why wasn't this standard applied to JFK or Clinton or any Democrat? It seems only Republicans must be subjected to this stricture.
