The Morning Report — 9/ 2 /26

RoomySparky.jpg

Well, there are a couple of bright spots in the news this morning, so let us take note. First,

A Utah Judge ruled Tuesday that Tyler Robinson will stand trial on all seven charges in the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, leaving him eligible for the death penalty if convicted of aggravated murder.

Again, while this is certainly welcome to hear neither you nor I were born yesterday, so before we give in to the temptation to engage in providing a simultaneous venturi effect on our nether regions. This fiend is a hero to the Democrat Left and given the utter corruption of our judiciary and moral bankruptcy of far too many of our fellow citizens-in-name-only I'd be shocked if there was an actual conviction let alone if this thing actually got a death sentence. Considering the mastermind of 9/11 has yet to be taken out and sent back to the infernal reaches from whence he and his non-religion religion came from, yeah it's all a non-starter.

Elsewhere it certainly looks as if the gloom-and-doomers attacking the President about the economy might want to chew on this.

On Tuesday, new data from the Department of Labor’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey showed that manufacturing job openings rose to 580,000 in July, up from 501,000 in June. This constitutes the highest level since January 2023. In contrast, the manufacturing sector posted 428,000 openings this time last year. Durable goods manufacturers saw a particularly sharp increase, with vacancies climbing to 429,000 from 353,000 the previous month, and 255,000 from the previous year. The follows data released by the Department of Commerce showing a 1.1 percent rise in durable goods orders, twice what was expected. While hiring in manufacturing fell to 288,000 in July from 330,000 last month, this comes amid a broader trend of declining hires. According to recent data, total job openings across all sectors increased to 7.3 million, while hiring declined to 5.05 million. It was also revealed that layoffs across the economy dropped to 1.666 million, one of the lowest levels on record, while the rate of unemployment remains historically low at 4.1 percent. This demonstrates the ongoing growth of the U.S. manufacturing sector, which has been a core focus of the Trump administration’s economic policy. This follows a report showing that U.S. manufacturing has reached a four-year high in July. The same report showed that employment in the sector had risen to a three-year high. Specifically, the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) reached 55.6 in July, an increase from 53.3 in June.

Psaki-Psircling back to 9/11 for a moment and hopefully not to kill the buzz I've tried to engender, there's this piece of shit and his madness to contend with.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has defended far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who previously said “America deserved 9/11,” and endorsed him as “our streamer,” just days before the 25th anniversary of the attacks, which left thousands of Americans dead across New York City, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. . . The controversy has underscored the growing divisions and tensions within the Democrats over socialism and Israel. It also shows how Piker has become politically toxic to much of the Democrats. This controversy comes amid a broader shift to the left among Democrats, with one in three Democrat-aligned voters self-describing as Democratic Socialists.

Disgusting as he and what he represents are, that they seem to be lacking in popularity, despite their growing presence on the electoral scene I'll take as a positive development, even as the Mamdanis, El-Sayeds and Bernie Sanders-es remain in prominence.

Other than that, the battle over AI continues. Like it or not, it's here and here to stay so we better get a handle on it before it gets a handle on us,

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said during a Breitbart News Fight Club Roundtable on Monday evening that he believes China is helping fund opposition to artificial intelligence data centers, while arguing that the country should consider the effects on the electrical grid and water resources without putting itself at a disadvantage in the competition over AI.  “Now, at the same time, I think we need to be responsible. We need to look at the demands on the electrical grid. I think demands on water resources are way overstated, but overstated because China is funding the propaganda against these things,” he continued.

Like any other technology or advancement that has come about since Ogg the caveman discovered fire and Cocoa Krispies, it can and will be used for good and ill. The same as with AI. And the short term good, which is very good IMHO, jobs in construction as well as the parallel increase in employment of businesses and industries that service and feed into this new infrastructure are for sure a potential Golden Goose as President Trump has described it. And the evil that can and would be unleashed on us if we let the Chi-Coms win the race to dominate AI is guaranteed. FOr that reason alone we simply cannot allow that to happen.

Have a good day.

I'm in the "no" camp simply because of the support terrorism has in this country.

In my opinion, the battle should have gone like this.

18 The "economic" news is a fluff as the CoC crowd demanded that every output number must always increase, no matter what. With proper immigration controls, we should see some variation in data...and the effects of changes in labor (or lack thereof).

FWIW, overall prices were pretty stable all summer, and people responded by vacations and traveling. The places I saw were...whew... Packed.

Growth in people is the only way you can sustain the fiction of un-ending growth.

This alone explains their sucicidal, culture destroying insistance on mass immigration.

39 NYPost:

When the US Treasury Department sanctioned the transnational organization Masar Badil last week, Washington took a much-needed step toward thwarting terrorist activity and recruitment here in the homeland.

Those affiliates, associated with college campuses in Minnesota, Oregon and Washington state, have been vocal advocates for armed resistance against “colonialism” — and in recent months their calls for “resistance” have escalated into violence and intimidation.

One of the most active is Students United for Palestinian Equality and Return at the University of Washington, which until recently was a formally registered student organization.

Masar Badil itself has listed SUPER-UW among its “frameworks and militant networks,” and the student group’s evolution over the past three years reveals just how deep a foothold the network has gained inside the US.

It's now being made by the orange menace and that's a big reason they hate him. Big change is happening but too often the trees get lost in the forest.

The clearest example of that change is happening just above Lake America. Canada has chosen China and the EU over America.

75 67 Total non-issue for me. if we want men to cheerlead, the Eagles have correctly set the tone, b/c their men are designated men.

--

Male cheerleaders have been around a long time, but in a different capacity than this guy. I had a friend whose boyfriend was a cheerleader. The kind that stood at the bottom of the pyramids and tossed girls in the air. This new iteration is...different. Obviously our opinions vary.

Yes, but those men also stood on the sideline cheering, just like this guy. They didn't just sit in seats until the stunts. UVA had a great team of men and women.

If this guy was a better cheerleader, no one would have an issue. He's in an appropriate male costume with appropriate male grooming. He's just not great at cheer.

College cheerleaders reflect the original version of cheerleading when they were actual athletes. Watch some of the cheerleading competitions, they are essentially gymnasts.

NFL cheerleaders are more like a Vegas testosterone show. The Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders posters sat right next to Farah Fawcett posters on the walls of many high school boys back in the day. Or were. Kind of a big difference.

86 Fast food is a zombie industry.

It depended on price, speed, and predictability. People knew what they were going to order, what they would get and how much they would pay before arriving at the restaurant.

There is no longer a price or speed advantage and considering all the changes in menu and recipe, you never know what you're going to get.

Hence, "might as well go someplace else."

No vehicle manufacturer was ordered to put that absolutely terrible feature in—they did it semi-voluntarily.

Some luxury brands have an override switch that is part of the starting the car ritual to turn off (default is on). On the toobs there are many videos of hacks to disable that garbage.

All the manufacturer has to do is add the "default off" attribute to the Auto Stop/Start on their next OTA firmware updates. Chances are very high they won't do it.

Much of the problem is that the Big Four (mostly Tyson) threaten grocery chains with supply disruptions or far less "favorable" treatment if the chains look to alternate sources for meat—such as local independents.

I think it is hilarious that the Big Four are whining about the imported ground beef tariff reduction because two of the beef processing operations are Brazilian owned.

155 It's not just DOJ, it's DOJ's Antitrust. "September 2023, the DOJ filed a civil lawsuit against a data company for the meat industry, Agri Stats. That lawsuit alleged meat companies used information from Agri Stats reports to increase prices and reduce meat supplies,” Neeley reported. “The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, alleged the companies used the reports to push up exports to reduce U.S. domestic supplies and drive up costs for U.S. food companies, retailers and consumers. "

Just so you know there is always shenanigans in that industry.

‘True tomb’ of Jesus Christ found after 2,000 years — and it matches the Biblical telling
"The researchers had been excavating Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a fourth century Roman Church that was built over a holy site where many Christians believe Christ was crucified, buried and then resurrected on Easter Sunday."

How surprising! It's always in the last place you look.

Not explicitly stated: Jesus' body was not found in the tomb.

Notably, the headline says "found," but the URL says "might-have-found."

184 I wrote back and said in the history of our country there has never been a shortage of things like produce where we had to go to another country to get product.

Talk to oldsters who were thrilled with their annual orange. It wasn't a "shortage" it was understood to be "seasonal", and only when the Florida or California crop was matured.

Then there is this thing called "Canning" where for centuries people took in their seasonal harvest and stored it until needed.

Take apples (one of the easiest crops to source):
Sep-Nov: Fresh US harvest
Dec-Feb: US stored apples
Mar-May: US stored plus Chile/New Zealand imports
Jun-Aug: Imports plus late season US storage
Aug-Sep: New US harvest begins

Citrus is Florida/California → Southern Hemisphere imports

305 "What's interesting is that, because the Left expresses itself in terms of "freeing" people's sexuality, many people miss the fact that it is every bit as sexually controlling in its own way as Islam is. This control comes about because the Left works assiduously to decouple sex from a person's own sense of bodily privacy and, by extension, self-ownership. If a person has no sense of autonomy, that person is a ready-made cog for the statist machinery.
The practical problem for the Left when it tries to attack individuality as expressed through sexuality is the fact that a person's sense of an inviolate physical self develops quite early, during childhood:

Once a child individuates, he becomes aware of being his own self. ... The most basic thing one can own is one's own self, and not letting others touch that self in ways you don't like is an exercise in self-ownership. . ."

314 'Morning, all. Thank you, J.J.

Was remembering some of the controversies about the O & Joe administration regarding the Muslim Brotherhood & that ratcheted up after the Arab Spring & election of Muslim Mohamed Morsi as President of Egypt in 2012.

"Siding with Islamist groups." Ongoing debates within the party about balancing the promotion of democratic elections abroad (which might bring Islamist groups to power) with maintaining traditional strategic alliances.

Allegations the Muslim Brotherhood had successfully infiltrated the U.S. government. Hillary Clinton's aide (Now a Soros wife.) accused of having familial ties to the organization. The Democrats were branded as "weak on national security" and naïve about Islamist extremism which they had to vigorously defend in the 2010 and 2014 mid-terms.

And so it was reported with lines between the Muslim Brotherhood and general Islamic organizations blurred, the Democrat Party moved to defend civil liberties and build stronger political coalitions with Muslim-American communities, positioning itself as a defender against Islamophobia.

Baby steps.
