Bought myself another tablet - the 11" older sister to my 8" Lenovo Legion Tab. Same CPU, RAM, and ROM, but a larger display and higher resolution - 3200x2000. 40% off on clearance and comes with pen and keyboard - the pen I already have one of and it works well; the keyboard is a wait-and-see.

The newer models are faster but much more expensive, and the one high-end large tablet I have died of battery bloat.

I read it about 30 years ago, but didn't recall all the details beyond the basic story: Here is a line from it Mattie, the fourteen year old girl trying to avenge her father who had been murdered . 21 Yesterday at work my phonne battery drained like I was watching YouTube all day but wasn't. Late morning even put it in airplane mode to try and stop but didn't help much. I know sometimes it searches for a signal in bad spots and that does it thats why I tried airplane mode.

43 Thanks, Fen. We didn't really have much of a desire to hit the beaches so the history lessons were a good thing for us.

There were a few disasters during the trip but all in all it was a lot of fun. And our dogs were absolute angels for the couple that was watching them for us. Even better, another friend took over watching the caterpillars that my wife had put in containers and now there are seven new Monarchs flitting around.

I coined the term "insomaniacals" long ago, but like "fetch," it never happened. As for the difference between them, I'm an early riser, but I got seven hours' sleep last night, a bit more than usual for me. 54 Fen, I've been catching up on 1930s-1940s movies too, and showing Linda at the same time that just because a movie is in B & W, it's not dull. Last night we watched the first half of Since You Went Away, a tale of a wife and her two teen daughters who have to function at home after her husband enlists in WWII. Claudette Colbert, Jennifer Jones, and Shirley Temple (about age 14-15), with Joseph Cotten, Hattie McDaniel, and other names of those days make for a good cast. It's a long film, about three hours with an overture and an intermission, but not dull.

84 The time between 5:00 and 7:00 AM is golden. I can work undisturbed, enjoy my coffee, and say my Rosary. At 7:00, I go downstairs and make Her Majesty's coffee. She's awake by then and my day ceases to be my own.

Exactly. It's as though you have the world to yourself, before all those annoying humans start swarming everywhere. When I work out before dawn, which is most of the time, I feel as if I'm walking/running over a deserted planet. (Well, there are cars on the road. But not as many as after seven am.)

Going out to breakfast before it gets light was a real pleasure of mine in Denver, where there were 24-hour or early-open diners. Not that many of those here now.

Most of the 24-hour places in Denver died during COVID. Even the mighty Breakfast King. It survived the closure of Gates Rubber, but not the lockdowns.

88 Come to think of it, Denver did not have many 24-hour eateries. But they had a small chain called the Village Inn that opened at 6 am. It was a delight to sit there on a winter morning and watch the snow fall as I ate my waffle and eggs.

Here, the breakfast joints tend to open at 8 am. There is a 24-hour one aside from Bullet Central (aka Waffle House), and it's not too far away, but even early it tends to be crowded because it's one of only a few.
