Communist Candada's National Broadcaster CBC: Do Not Call the 9/11 Attack "Terrorism"
I am just about ready to begin treating Canada as an enemy state.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation instructed its staff not to refer to the killings on 9/11 as "terrorist attacks" ahead of its coverage of the 25th anniversary, according to an internal memo. The public broadcaster reaffirmed that it would avoid using words like "terrorist" and "terrorism" when describing events, directing its staffers to follow the longstanding company policy that previously landed them in hot water during their Oct. 7, 2023, coverage. "Do not refer to the Sept. 11 attacks as terrorist attacks," the memo read. "The hijackings led to passenger jet crashes in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and Manhattan. The World Trade Center (WTC in second reference) was destroyed."
The memo was signed, "BB," which the Toronto Sun, which first published the letter, identified as Basem Boshra, senior director of journalistic standards and public Trust at CBC News.
Strange that the CBC has no problems using judgmental language in "reporting on" the January 6th "attack."
CBC defended the memo as a reminder to its journalists to adhere to the decades-old practice, claiming that using charged phrases like "terrorist attacks" would diminish their ability to remain impartial.
"Our focus is to report the facts of such atrocities with accuracy, clarity and detail; to convey the scale and scope of violent acts wherever they occur; to quote the people affected, and to convey the views of officials and experts on these events. We bear witness," Kerry Kelly, a public affairs spokesperson for CBC, told The Post. "But CBC News does not itself designate specific groups as terrorists, or specific acts as terrorism, regardless of the region or the events, because these words are so loaded with meaning, politics and emotion that they can end up being impediments to our journalism."They will only call it "terror" when the word is used in an official statement, and then they put it in quotes to show that it's someone else's language. The example they give is Osama bin Ladin calling it "blessed terror." Even when the mastermind of the atrocity admits it's "terror," the CBC says no, our "experts" say maybe it's not.
Rachel Thomas, a Conservative MP, slammed the leaked memo as shameful, accusing the policy of downplaying the terror attacks. "Refusing to call it an act of terrorism dishonours the victims, their families, the survivors, and the first responders who witnessed the horrors of that day," she wrote on X.
"Trying to sanitize or rewrite that history is deeply offensive and does a disservice to everyone who was affected by the attacks."

That's the point, and it's more clever than people are realizing. It's pissing off all the right people up in Canada. Carney depends on the "elbows up" nitwits for political support. He built his whole political facade on standing tough against the US. HOWEVER, the trade negotiations have Carney in a situation where he is going to have to capitulate. There is no leverage to present a different outcome.
So, Carney walks away from negotiations, and runs to the media to flail and whine. Trump stays very quiet on the issue and then comes out a few days later with the Lake America spiel (arguably in response to Doug Ford in Ontario cosplaying "tough guy"). This winds up the Liberals. Carney is eventually going to return to the trade talks or the USMCA will be terminated in six months once the clock starts running. Carney can't win. His political career is about to crash. Capitulate and piss off supporters (after Trump winds them up) or USMCA is gone, and we do a bi-lateral trade agreement where we can really play hardball.

China is at the center (or one of the center's) of disagreement with the US. China depends on sending partially completed wares to Canada. Canada completes the construction, then sells those wares to the US under the guise that is it Canadian made. China does this to avoid higher tariffs.
Unfortunately, the industry base of Canada has been gutted thanks to the overregulation and Climate Change Green Policies. As a result, China is going to take a solid hit in the teeth on any trade agreement with the US. Japan has two auto makers in Ontario (Toyota and Honda) who have said they will leave Canada to support the US. China wants those manufacturing factories to make Chinese EV's...and they will bring their own workforce in (screwing over Canadian jobs). It's almost poetic.

Similar to Venezuelan oil in that it is 'dirty' oil and has to refined at special refineries that can handle it.

Most Canadian oil sands (tar sands) bitumen is refined in the United States, not Canada. Canadian oil sands production is sold mainly as diluted bitumen (dilbit — heavy, high-sulfur) or upgraded synthetic crude oil (SCO — lighter and easier to process). Dilbit requires complex refineries with significant coking (or equivalent residue conversion) capacity.

The rumor among the money traders is that the EU is planning to launder the seized Russian assets through Canadian banks and Carbon Credit markets, specifically the markets set up to offset the Albertan oil extraction.
To do that they need closer banking ties than they have already.
