Real Life Energy Vampire Cafe

rabbitfu.jpg
Bun-fu
by Mora Nakamura

Get ready for an uncomfortable realization: Boston's first album is now fifty years old.

Fisherman comes home with an unexpected catch: a mangy orphaned kitten.

This poor cow is infested with goats.

A driverless truck is rolling down the street. This guy handles business like a boss.

There might be a new "trend" of asking people to follow you while you do goony dance moves.

Bad cat.

Bad dog.

Bad driver.

Bad baby. Or maybe he was doing the girl a favor.

This kind of thing happens to me.

Monty Python demonstrates the English sense of humor for a Dutch audience. I've seen them do this bit at their live shows but I never saw the original staging, which I guess was for Dutch TV.

Anyone a fan of Nancy Sinatra's "You Only Live Twice" Bond theme? Apparently they made a video for it.

Eighty pet guinea pigs and also a bunch of chickens.

Wolf fishes. There's an annoying guy calling out to the wolf that kinda spoils this one.

Parrot spent ten years in a shelter before he was adopted by his true owner.

When an elk comes for a visit.

You probably know Mark Proksch. He played the awkward, annoying Nate on The Office, and the awkward, annoying energy vampire Colin Robinson on What We Do in the Shadows.

What you might not know is that Mark Proksch is an energy vampire in real life and the character of Colin Robinson is a just a slightly rewritten version of himself.

He became famous when -- just because he was bored -- he began calling local news channels telling them that he was a Yo-Yo Master named Kenny "K-Strass" Strasser, and that he uses his champion yo-yo skills to educate school children about global warming.

In fact, he can barely yo-yo at all. He strains to do a simple up-and-down move.

And in a medium where speed is everything and a segment has to be wrapped up in two minutes, he wastes as much time as possible, talking endlessly about trivial details no one cares about while making excuses about why he doesn't want to do the one thing he was brought on TV to do, play with the yo-yo.

The energy vampire really fed well during these appearances. The hosts try to keep things moving but this vampire keeps things slow and awkward.

More about the history of this energy vampire here.

6 One thing I didn't realize at the time, the Boston album was recorde by one guy, basically, overdubbing all the instruments hisself. It wasn't a band, not in the Studio anyhow.

It was recorded fairly well, too. Everyone with a cassette deck in their Camaro had it permanently welded inside. I don't think I ever bought a Boston LP or tape, because I didn't need to. Everyone else already had.

40 Here's the thing that strikes me as so ridiculous about the astro-turf "Texas is going socialist" fake news.

The people in Texas who made it what it is are tough, and know what they know. Polls saying a freak fake Christian who wants to chop the genitals off their kids "is ahead" doesn't make them cower or throw up their hands and stay home; it makes them even more determined to vote, and to drag their neighbors and friends with them, and to make sure that doesn't happen. The dems best strategy is to shut up and lay low, but they'll never do that because that doesn't support the grift.

53 Bunny-Fu must be a fairly strong technique in the animal kingdom.

Even one of their arch-predators, the common housecat, has adopted the bunny kick as one of their standard techniques for taking down enemies.

The idea is to get your foe in a clinch with your fore paws, then start raking their soft underbelly with your clawed back paws.

Cute when cats do it to their cat toys. But I'm sure their prey don't think it's so cute.

Dunno about soup, but I recently discovered that Vlasic Pickle Balls are not a bad addition to ramen noodles.

The cornballs soak up some of the broth and the broth takes on a sort of dill pickle flavor that's not overpowering at all.

Scoop it up with some noodles and let it dissolve on your tastebuds before swallowing.

Surprisingly tasty.

If you need to, take a break, walk around the block or something, make sure to eat some real food so your brain is in good condition. Don't let yourself get caught in a doom-loop.

Then sit back down, do your best, and have confidence that you did what you could, and that's all you can do.
