Today's fun root canal procedure was deemed a "success."

But I got to discover whole new levels of pain.

Yes, they used anesthetic, but the inflammation was so bad they had to dig down to the nerve itself and inject anesthetic directly into the nerve. Whee!

Now I get to experience a week or so of post-operative pain management with my new best friends Tylenol and Advil.

It's not my first rodeo, but it's never fun.

They try to preserve the structure of the tooth as much as possible--especially the back molars, which are pretty important. I've already had a couple of teeth extracted back there so I don't want to lose any more.

39 Had an interesting afternoon yesterday. Decided to play hooky and join some friends cruising around Newport Harbor, checking out the boats and drinking beer.

Eventually we came upon a group of flashing police lights on a police boat, more cop cars at the base of the dock and cops on the dock and standing on a Hinckley Bermuda 40 that was tied to the dock. We started to cruise over and see what was up and the cops aggressively told us to stay back.

Found out later that some 20 something boat worker from Newport had stolen the Hinckley in NJ, sailed it to Newport and then got into a gunfight with the cops. He lost. Permanently. Not something you see every day around the harbor.

Even using Brave I was asked TWICE if I wanted to provide an email address to receive a newsletter. Fortunately, I could "X" out of them and they weren't too intrusive, but I still find that behavior annoying.

This is exactly why the internet in general has become such a cesspool of advertising. THEY CRAM IT RIGHT IN YOUR FACE!

When I lived in Germany, I'd get freaked out by the crane flies or "mosquito eaters." They looked like giant mosquitos.

Turns out they don't actually eat mosquitos and are completely harmless.

Those are crane flies, and we have them here as an invasive pest. The maggots eat the roots of seedling grasses and some other crops. The one benefit the starlings have is that they prey on those maggots in the ground

I think there is a call for paid lecturers for home schoolers, remote classes that have proctored tests.
I can imagine the delight of a Chemistry teacher, teaching a full load of classes to motivated kids, without having to deal with staff meetings or have to teach remedial math and Health.
