Happy weekend!
Had an interview today that went well I think, I should hear back next week whether that's true, any next steps, etc. Got one interview scheduled and one 'working on being scheduled' for next week. Got a couple others that I'm waiting for the recruiter to give me a status update on. I'm feeling optimistic after today's interview. But for the record... They're still working out exactly what happened with that thing. Right now, they think a YUGE chunk of glacier just broke off. A 2000' wide chunk of glacier broke loose and plummeted 4000' down the side of the mountain. The ice melted from all that energy release, picked up all sorts of debris, then blocked and mixed with the rivers. Biblical level flood and landslide event at a local level there. Perhaps the sex worker should not be so open. Read that however you want. I felt bad laughing at the drunk guy set to music. I also feel bad (no you don't) that you and your brothers and cousins used to sit on a curb (forbidden to cross street) at your grandmother's. We watched The Little Red Schoolhouse for children weekly, back then labeled retarded, and returned to grandmother's and acted the same characters in a playhouse. I know I need to confess this next time to the priest, altho I wasn't Catholic yet so maybe that does not count. Kids: there is a differece in girls and boys we are finding out. 26 Dave, a difficult thing I found sometimes with interviews, when someone really needs a job, it has an odor so to speak, and they can smell it. Desperation. Make sure to cut through that and exude genuine confidence. They can smell that too.
Posted by: Common Tater at August 28, 2026 10:16 PM (PVUR/) Genuine is the key. Creating actual value. One option is gig work. I don't just mean driving for Uber or DoorDash; a younger cousin of mine showed me Fiverr, for even things like helping a small business with its data, like converting an Excel spreadsheet to a proper database, or generating useful reports. Another is volunteer work, which I sometimes do when I'm between jobs. I used to prefer hospitals, though now I would steer away from that for post-covid clotshot tyranny. My other go-to was a food bank. There are lots of things. If you play your cards right, you could maybe even parlay it into starting your own grifter NGO for generational wealth! -------- There's a theory there. The tasty animals in Africa evolved along with the ape-men and natural selection ensured that the animals who were wily enough to stay off the menu were the ones that produced the most offspring. Sort of a long-running arms race where parity was more or less maintained. In the New World the spear-carriers showed up all at once, and the animals didn't have time to adjust. So they just stood around and got massacred. This is something I read on the internet. Posted by: Cicero (@cicero43) at August 29, 2026 12:00 AM (4Je4D) 206

No shocker. We're not dealing with an elite military here. As Rabin said to our small group, when asked to explain Israel's history of military successes: "first, you must consider our enemies". Even better are very credible reports of US hydrologic engineering, removing natural features to create/improve a channel near the Omani coast. The only real comprehensive/permanent solution here is end of the pernicious regime, but systematically weakening or destroying their points of leverage is a beautiful process. Night Miklos.
Hi four seasons, I am good, thanks, hopefully JQ is good too, maybe she is getting some rest. 98 Curious how she blames "men on the internet." My dear sweet used-up blown-out ran-through cumdumpster, it's the sisterhood that's been lying to you all these years. . . .
Posted by: This and dead kids are what feminism hath wrought at August 28, 2026 10:46 PM (TbWk/) I'm starting to lean toward questioning whether it's even nonfiction. The 'lesson' of the purported complaint is to not believe everything you read on the internet, right? I can picture a troll thinking that was cute and meta, for the story and narrator to also be lies. My reasoning is because there's a significant minority of men that are full-blown Dark Triad, and would get a kick out of lying to keep her whoring, so they could use her and then marry someone else. But! They would also be doing it to her face. Many of her customers would be in that camp, so if she even existed, then she should've known them well enough to disbelieve them. Fun fact about U of Idaho, about 2 miles west is the WA border, and about 8 miles further on and you're in Pullman, home of the Wash St. Cougars. BTW, I once looked up what the hell is "Obispo" in Spanish. It's "Bishop". So whoever the Saint Louis they named this town after was a Bishop. I walk several miles every day, just to keep minimally nonunfit. It barely burns any calories. Posted by: SciVo at August 29, 2026 02:27 AM (ke3zm) 308

Posted by: Debby Doberman Schultz at August 29, 2026 02:19 AM (ibDUx) Ugh. People don't get less stubborn with time, and generally don't start out too flexible to begin with. When falling with a water glass in each hand gave her ugly stitches, my mom started using a cane even inside. When that betrayed her on the way out to the car (caught on a sprinkler head), she switched to a walker, and at now 80 has been using it inside her own home for years now. It isn't pleasant or fun to use a walker to get around the house, but it's more dignified than ambulances and hospitals. Maybe that argument would work? I am coming around to accepting the loss of my good friend in a plane crash last week, but it gets bad at night. I just want Sabrina back, but photos from the crash scene make it clear that she is just atoms now, and her soul is gone from this world. It's not like I haven't faced death of loved ones before, but she was not old, pretty much in her prime, the absolute expert in her career, one hell of a woman hockey goalie, and just a damned good person.

There's been a heatwave here... it was 100F in Athens when we did the acropolis... not a challenge for those of us who aren't europussies...as long as we can come back to an air conditioned hotel room.
