Time was when The Economist was a good read. Because they went into depth in parts of the world ignored by the rest of the media. And even when I disagreed with their editorials, they were up front about their biases. They opened with them.
Over time their writing has degraded and it has turned into just another Socialist rag. Actually, it’s worse: punk ass contrarian. What does Venezuela need to improve itself? Capitalism. What does the United States need more of? Socialism. And so on. They spent eight years giving HM The Shahinshah a weekly tongue bath but what frosted me on them for good and killed my subscription with them was their utterly bizarre endorsement of HRC in 2016.
I stopped reading their U.S. section long before that though.

She reveled in asking him about how TSLA sales were in the toilet due to his support of Trump and his work on DOGE. The first thing Bloomberg did after that interview was edit one of Elon's reponses to make it look like Bloomberg asks good questions. More recently, Hussein crowed about that same interview, asserting that her hard-hitting questions made him leave DOGE. I’ve done that hike as well. Our leaders were VERY cognizant of weather conditions before we went in. What makes it so dangerous is that because of drainage patterns in the feet plateau, a flash thunderstorm 50 miles away can drop enough water to flood the canyon even though you can see no clouds at all at the time.
It is a fascinating place - there are spots where the walls are 100 feet tall on either side, and yet the opening is 3 feet wide at the bottom, only slightly widening at the top. I remember a sight that really impressed me, from a past flood, was a telephone poll wedged in between the canyon walls, about 30’ over our heads.

The bottom line of all that was the interplay of buoyancy vs gravity and the tipping and rolling moments it generates.
A lift ship, when it nearly sinks itself to get under what it's going to lift up, destabilizes itself greatly. One little error and the whole thing tips over.

Found my stash of fuel tanks, and I think I will be using the '61 tank in it, which came from the same '61 Beetle that gave up its frame platform. Tried to unscrew the main/reserve valve body from the base of the tank, and it twisted right off. But I was able to run a 1/4" NPT tap into the nipple and make a perfect thread, so all is good there.
