39 You need to zoom in, there is a frog in front of the cow, there are flies on the animals. The artist died at 28 from TB, he was 22 when he painted this. The controversy with this painting is the scale of the animals and they are not subordinate to the farmer.

It is extremely well done. But it is like he had a collection of figures in mind he wanted to paint and just needed a setting. Background is an afterthought- but the figures are superb. (the animals, not the dude so much.)

99 Yes, I would hang this. The farmer is almost unimportant but the animals are superb. Same for the trees and landscape. The phrase that comes to mind is "The Peaceable Kingdom". The animals are relaxed, cared for, and getting settled as a storm moves in. The Young bull stands as a defense for the weaker animals. I enjoy bucolic scenes, even when somewhat idealized. (The farmer and animals are too clean for reality.) he colors are muted as the clouds gather which is restful.

Looking through Potter's Wiki page I found I prefer his realistic animals and landscapes to the humans when present. There is one that could serve for the Wolfhound club chapter of the AKC. It would have been interesting if he had done still life scenes as well as landscapes. What a loss that he died so young.

True story: in my early 20s, a bunch of young guys I worked with (in Las Vegas) got into playing a fun new unique game in a midnight league (forget what it was called).

Basically like indoor team field hockey (on an old covered-floor ice rink) while driving bumper cars and passing/scoring by flinging a large plastic wiffleball into a small net ... using a large curved plastic basket-like glove (a la jai alai -- which used a wicker version and used to be played and gambled on in Vegas back in the day).

One day I coaxed my girlfriend to come watch us play after work. She claimed afterwards that the loose shorts I was wearing were showing off my nuts while riding around in the bumper car.

I blushed -- and now that awful memory was what I think of when I hear "bumper nuts." Thanks ...

We had one of those here... called "Whirlyball" or something like it.

We didn't have anything as formal as a league, though. The son? Cousin? Nephew? of the guy who owned it was a friend of a friend, and the owner didn't mind if he brought a bunch of guys in at night after the official closing time.

The advantage of this over a formal league is that you could drink.

I'd bet that more than a few jobs were lost due to this.

Honestly I would like to see this encoded in law.

Kill someone and you die by however you killed them.

It would have a slight impact on reducing worse types of murders for semi-rational killers but more to the point it is logically consistent. You took someone's life, we will take yours in the same way.

Recall that a couple of female jurors showed up for deliberations wearing pink. I'm sure they didn't see any news or read anything about the trial. (sarcasm)

I wondered if 1st Degree murder would be hard to get a verdict on. 2nd Degree I would've thought they could agree on - especially since she already admitted she murdered her three precious kids.

Businesses will be punished by lawfare if they do so. Hiring women, especially minority women, is a high-risk proposition but they don't have much of a choice. As for relationships, maybe, although men have been seeing just how polluted the pool is more and more over the past 10-15 years or so anyway. So I'm not convinced this will be a cause and effect thing since vagina privilege has been around for a very long time. But I could be wrong.
