Moderate Centrist Normal Completely Heterosexual Candidate James Talarico Backs Knife-Murderer Karmelo Anthony: "The System Is Not Working for Black Texans"

He just gets more centrist and normal and Christian every single day.

Talarico Backs Karmelo Anthony in Divisive Murder Case: Says Black Teen's Conviction for Stabbing White Football Star Shows 'System Is Not Working for Black Texans'

On Wednesday, Anthony scored a major victory getting the original judge removed from the case

Chuck Ross
August 19, 2026

James Talarico has waded into the racially charged case of the murder of teenage football standout Austin Metcalf, with the Texas Democratic Senate nominee throwing his support behind Metcalf's convicted killer, Karmelo Anthony, now 19.

Anthony's attorneys are back in a Texas courtroom on Thursday, seeking a new trial, and on Wednesday succeeded--in a significant win--in having the judge from the original trial removed.

Talarico, in an interview on a black radio show earlier this month, said the conviction of Anthony, a black teenager who fatally stabbed Metcalf, who was white, at a high school track meet in Frisco, is proof that the criminal justice system "is not working for black Texans."

"Right now we've got a system that doesn't serve all Americans equally, and, and we know that black Texans have been, um, have not gotten the justice they deserve," said Talarico, a member of the Texas House of Representatives.

Talarico offered that controversial take during an August 5 interview on The Breakfast Club, a popular New York City talk radio show that has been a proving ground of sorts for white Democrats who seek to woo black voters. In 2016, Hillary Clinton proclaimed on the show that she carries around hot sauce in her purse, a claim that host Charlamagne tha God said sounded like she was "pandering to black voters." In 2020, Joe Biden said on the show that "if you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black."

In his interview, Talarico was asked to respond to a viral clip from last month that showed him emphatically nodding along as a woman at a town hall called the Anthony conviction a "tragedy."

...

Talarico appeared on The Breakfast Club as he struggles to woo black voters following a bitter primary fight against Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a black Democrat from Dallas (and a regular on The Breakfast Club). Crockett, who has likewise defended Anthony, accused Talarico of running "a racist race" in the primary. Talarico came under fire for allegedly referring to former Senate candidate Colin Allred as a "mediocre black man."

Talarico has embraced other hot-button policies in an appeal to black voters. He denounced the SAVE Act, which would strengthen ID requirements to vote, as an attempt to "rob" black voters. He recently endorsed the idea of reparations for slavery, stating that "repairing past harms is part of my faith tradition."

By the way, the media is reporting the judge was removed from sentencing because he was "biased." They don't tell you what that means. They want you to infer that he is racially biased.

Nope. The "bias" consisted of him saying, post-conviction, "the jury got it right."

I don't even understand how this is "bias." A judge can form impressions from a case, just like a jury. In fact, if a judge believes the jury got it very wrong -- so wrong their judgment cannot be said to be based on the evidence -- he is allowed (required, actually) to set aside the jury's judgment and enter his own judgment.

So how can it be "bias" to merely agree with a jury whose judgment is based 100% on the obvious facts?

Two-tiered justice -- it's actually an American innovation. It began with Derek Chauvin.

Actually it began long before that. That's when it became just accepted leftwing cult doctrine that white people are subject to a different law than "oppressed" minorities.

One thing to ponder...

Karmelo got $600K for murdering some random white guy

but Lindsay Clancy got $900k for murdering her own kids.

So perhaps Karmelo does have an argument for the unfairness of all this right?

26 The reason the judge was removed was because he -- incredibly stupidly -- gave media interviews saying the verdict was correct while the case is still pending before him.

There are post-trial motions pending before him, all of which are gonna be some form of "the jury got it wrong." So of course the murderer's defense team seized on this "bias" that the judge already pre-judged the motions.

This was a big unforced error and gift to the defense. Do I think it will change anything? No, I don't. This was an open and shut case that never shoulda gone to trial.

This would have the added benefit of creating a very angry set of voters who can be depended on to use violence when necessary, such as when Democrats, being the effeminate, draft dodging cowards they are, attack women and children.

The dirty secret is that Hispanics often loathe blacks so you risk pissing off the Hispanics by supporting criminality in the person of Karmelo.

I think as said above, Talarico is doing this in desperation rather than strength because he is lagging in black urban support that he needs. They won't vote for Paxton but may not show up at all for the polls. In the end, building coalitions based on identity becomes handicapped by each identity group wanting someone that looks like them on the ballot.

AWFLs want white women, Hispanic racialists want a Hispanic of whatever country origin is a majority in that state, black racialists want a black on the ticket, and political gays want a deviant--with the new twist of trans queerism.

We've talked about this often. First, to say it was an "all white" jury only works if you say those of hispanic and asian ancestry are "white".

Second, every black jury pool member, when questioned, said for the record that they thought they'd be biased and could not make an impartial judgment. Automatic disqualification.

I and others have opined that this was almost certainly deliberate, an easy way to get off the jury if you knew your community was going to be furious if you returned a guilty verdict. None of them wanted to have anything to do with it.

114 26 The reason the judge was removed was because he -- incredibly stupidly -- gave media interviews saying the verdict was correct while the case is still pending before him.

Posted by: Elric The Blade at August 20

Its too bad the judge, who was good, gave any interview regardless of brief and innocuous it was. The other defense arguments of 'bias' were that the judge didnt have an overflow room set up to watch the trial and thag he enforced strict procedural rules- which just shows how desperate the defense is.

124 "So how can it be "bias" to merely agree with a jury whose judgment is based 100% on the obvious facts?"

It's more subtle that that. The case is still pending. There are or will be post-trial motions that this judge would have had to decide. The gist of most of the motions are gonna be some form of "the jury got it wrong."

That's where the potential "bias" comes in: the judge, in publicly saying the jury got it right, is arguably pre-judging the outcome of the post-trial motions.

I think the court was correct to nip this in the bud and replace the judge. Better to get a new judge who hasn't (foolishly) shot his mouth off about the case and opened the door to bias charges.

I don't think a new judge will change anything. They got this murderer dead to rights.

I believe this is a Request for a new Trial, which in Texas can happen at the lower court level before it moves on to a higher Court of Appeals. Very rare for this kind of motion to ever be granted, but it's a way for lawyers to convince paying clients that they've tried everything.

If this fails, then they'll immediately appeal to a higher court. The burden at every level is that they have to find an actual Error of Law in order to overturn a Jury's verdict.

It won't in a democracy. The ugly facts are that absent an immediate external enemy that requires everyone to support a particular government for common defense to survive, that people can and will vote for people like themselves. Belgium is split by language, so is Canada, Catholic/Protestant mattered in Germany, Ethnicity in Italy, N. and S. Italy.

And there will always be politicians that seek to build power on a base of stirring up religious, ethnic, race, or even disparities in wealth. Humans are tribal animals-some can overcome the programming to some extent but the happiest countries are usually homogeneous in likes, tastes, culture, and desires or they have no political competition because they have their own despot ruling them. The reporting on the case is confusing because most reporters are hacks who don't understand the basics of the subjects they're reporting on.

The case isn't on "appeal" yet. The case is still in the trial court, at the post-trial motion stage. These motions will be some form of "a new trial is needed" and will be heard by the trial judge.

It won't go up on appeal until after the judge rules on these motions.

197 James Madison, a political realist, argues in Fed 10 that the best form of government, contrary to prior philosophers who argued for homogeneous countries for the most stability, that Americans by dividing themselves into self governing states and a strong limited national government for dealing with other nations as an equal on trade, defense, and ensuring a common market among the states (where they cannot commit bad acts against their sister states) would allow the benefits of a large powerful central government to deal with external relations but each state and even community being able to run themselves as they liked as long as they did not run afoul of state or federal governments. States were left with their traditional ability to govern for the health, safety, and welfare of its residents which applied that to localities. Localities in turn could craft their own rules as long as it did not violate state or federal laws.

But the problem is inevitably that losers at the local level escalate to the state or federal government and seek imposition of their losing side in a political matter by calling on a state or federal response to counteract the winners.

220 To continue, soon, you also had national or statewide movements seeking to compel localities to toe the line and this expanded beyond the health, safety, and welfare ideals of limited government.

To correct Madison's theory, in the 30's to 60's, the idea of pluralism took hold--that is the state should be the neutral ref of political contests between interest groups (including groups of people) in tug of wars to determine how people could and should live. The older philosophy of negative rights became a newer one where the fed and state government and some localities then granted positive rights at the behest of this or that group.

And the idea was that the state (local, federal, or state) would cheerfully be neutral and objective to let the policy be hashed out in political action by different groups. And that is turn was found to be bullshit--governments are filled not with technocrats but people with their own biases and instead of a neutral ref, you had technocrats in government supporting their chosen interest groups in these contests. The refs were stacking the political game results. Add in the courts, and you get the extreme technocrat ideals.

Our insurance (State Farm) has after 22 years cancelled our insurance due to what they say is not having proper gutters (gutters were on the house since we bought it and have annual cleanings with proof) and not having trees away from the house (we just had $7200 worth of tree work done because of what they said).

What do we do now? They seem to be unable too send an actual adjuster to the house and only ask for photos which they seem think do not show what they want.

No, he doesn't. He was 17 when he committed the crime which, per SCOTUS ruling, makes him ineligible for execution regardless of any other circumstance. Further, Texas uses lethal injection.

His lawyers want a new trial so that they can push to get a black person on the jury who will refuse to convict. That's, literally, the only play available to them.

240 Where a federal judge can determine that because some useless wanker dislikes the new White House plans aesthetics, the judge is then empowered to block construction despite the copious precedents of standing that would have the wanker with no such right.

So we slide into technoanarchy by judges, mostly Democrats, occasionally GOP, where judges, bureaucrats can impose their own stupid policies on behalf of the prejudices of their own political interests.

And Congress, being bought by nasty political interests, the death of the decentralized federal system of government (foreseen in some degree by Madison in Fed. 46), and the lure of political losers seeking to win in other arenas that can impose their diktats on localities, states, or even the entire country, has not only allowed it, but encouraged the rule of the unelected in politically destructive acts.

Society is going to face a Rubicon soon when the push comes to shove--we cannot allow fraudulent elections in rotten boroughs, we cannot allow unelected and unaccountable hacks in black or their bureaucratic allies from imposing general laws, and we cannot allow foreign countries to dictate our nation's policies.

In Texas, the insanity defense is governed by Texas Penal Code Section 8.01, which establishes it as an affirmative defense based on the M’Naghten Rule. This legal standard requires the defendant to prove that, at the time of the offense, they suffered from a severe mental disease or defect that prevented them from knowing their conduct was wrong (interpreted legally as illegal).

Exclusions: The definition of mental disease or defect explicitly excludes abnormalities manifested solely through repeated criminal or antisocial behavior (e.g., psychopathy or sociopathy alone).

The ones that color in bold are less likely to defect to the enemy because they know that they will lose their support at the next election. Traitors are always treated more harshly than the lesser of evils candidate where you hold your nose because the other option is unspeakable.

The bold ones though often have an Achilles heel, women (see Paxton and his divorce), substance abuse (Joe McCarthy and drinking), or money (many GOP and Dem pols).
