Good morning boys and girls and everything in between. Before we enter the Prayer Revival there are just a few housekeeping matters to go over. (Rulz for those of you in Black Earth)

1) This is an open thread. Feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate.

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List
Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.
Prayer Requests:
5/23 – I used to have a Different Nic could use some prayers as he waits for the results of a biopsy of a mass on his prostate.
6/23 Update – The latest update is that he has stage 2, “unfavorable intermediate”, which he notes is an awful name, but what it means is, it is in the middle, but bad enough that they want to treat it. It’s more aggressive than previously thought. He is at the point where he has to decide on treatment options, which means choosing which set of pretty unfortunate side effects he prefers.
7/31 Update – He has reached the halfway point in treatment. He’s had some side effects, that are “just annoying”.
6/20 – bluebell gave an update on grammie Winger. Grammie had some major surgery related to her cancer in March and is pretty much housebound. She said she isn’t keeping up on news since her diagnosis; she doesn’t have the energy. She said she thinks of her grey-box friends often with fondness. Please keep praying for her. Your prayers are a source of great comfort to her.
6/27 Update – grammie winger requested bluebell to let the Horde know that she is hospitalized again, with sepsis, and cannot eat or walk. She is very tired and cannot speak for long. She is being fed by tube. They don’t know how long she will be hospitalized or where she will go after (rehab, hospice, etc.). Bluebell has a mailing address for grammie, so please contact bluebell to send a card or note to grammie winger. Please pray for her, that her suffering will be eased, and pray for her family, who are suffering along with her.
7/25 – grammie winger popped in to say thank you for all the cards, letters, and encouraging words. You are a treasure.
6/27 – “A” sent thanks for the prayers for a family friend, who is at home recovering with the family and doing much better. “A” has an additional request for long-time friends (J and S) who are in the midst of intense family problems and requesting healing, peace, repentance, and restoration in the family.
7/18 Update – “A” sends his thanks to all the prayer warriors for all the personal concerns listed here. The requests above are all doing better. Prayer really works. Sometimes the results are not what we expected but end up being what we really needed for other reasons. Thank you all!
7/15 – Captain JS’ daughter needs prayers for his/her daughter. Early on 7/15, she experienced complete heart failure. She is in the ICU on a heart/lung machine. They will operate to see what is happening. Captain JS sends thanks in advance for the prayers and has faith in their power.
7/15 Update – Thanks to all who responded to Captain JS’ request for prayers. The daughter is still unconscious but is still alive. The doctors suspect a blockage to the left side of her heart. They are planning to take pictures and then insert a stent.
7/18 Update – Captain JS’ daughter passed away. Her heart, brain, and other organs were too damaged to regain function. Captain JS sends his thanks to the Horde for all the prayers.
7/25 – Matthew Kant Cipher humbly asks for prayers for Marshall, a long-time friend and HS classmate of Mrs. MKC, who is currently hospitalized with heart failure.
8/7 Update – Marshall passed away after multiple organs failed. Matthew Kant Cipher humbly asks the Horde to pray for the repose of his soul and that God’s perpetual light would shine upon him.
7/25 – Teresa in Fort Worth posted an update. She is still doing fine. Her chemo pump seems to be working and everything appears stable for now. She says she is incredibly blessed! She is working on a stocking for an as-yet-not-born grandchild. She would appreciate prayers for a successful IVF procedure and pregnancy for her daughter and hubby. Next week, Teresa and her husband will be going to California to visit their daughter who lives there and her family.
8/4 Update – Teresa was admitted to the hospital while on vacation in California. She has a bad infection – cellulitis - not due to the cancer. She is being treated with antibiotics and hopefully it will be cleared up in a couple of days.
7/29 – Notsothoreau asked for prayers for Billy Ray’s mother, who was just admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. She is a cancer survivor and chemo destroyed her immune system, so this is a big worry.
8/2 Update – Billy Ray’s mother is feeling better, on oxygen and medication. She is not out of the woods, but has stabilized. She appreciates the prayers from around the globe and says thank you very much.
7/29 – TecumsehTea wrote that MrTea’s diagnosis is colon cancer stage 4. They are praying for guidance for how to proceed.
8/12 Update – MrTea will start radiation treatments for the tumor in the sigmoid colon on Monday – 10 treatments. They are not sure what will follow; they are still looking at options. Surgery is not an option. The cancer has metastasized to the lymph node nearest the tumor and there are 3-5 small spots in the liver. There are also spots in his lung which are indeterminate. He continues on fenben and ivermectin. Prayers are appreciated.
7/30 – David sent an update on his wife, Susan, who we have been praying for as she is treated for cancer. Susan is still doing well and her numbers are headed in the right direction, but they are still having issues with the side effects of the chemotherapy. It is manageable, but they have to increase the number of office visits for additional treatments. Some days are really good right now, but others are only bearable with the Lord’s grace. They are so grateful for the prayers on their behalf.
8/1 – Isophorone Blog requested prayers for his mother. His father passed this past Sunday. His mother had been in the hospital for an entire month previous to that, so they never got to see each other at the end. His mother is out of the hospital, but in declining health.
8/1 – Tonypete asked for prayers for his BIL, who is a developmentally disabled adult and has been living independently (sort of) for decades but the time has come for them to make some changes in his living arrangements and personal finances. This will not go well as he has VERY poor impulse control and anger issues. His dear wife has POA but that is limited in its reach and it is probably time for her to be granted guardianship.
8/7 – neverenoughcaffiene asks for prayers for Lynell, who was recently diagnosed with a rapidly growing brain tumor. Surgery was performed and they were not able to remove all of the cancer. Her prognosis for survival is one year. She is being treated with chemo and radiation. On top of her diagnosis and treatment, she recently broke her ankle. Please pray for Lynell and her husband as they navigate this new reality.
8/8 – Ace-Endorsed Author A. H. Lloyd posted that Mrs. Lloyd will undergo a double mastectomy to remove the breast cancer. She has advanced to Stage 1. Much hinges on the biopsy to determine the specific sub-category of cancer and whether chemo is necessary. Please pray for her in this time of need.
8/8 – Retired Buckeye Cop requested prayers for his nephew, Josh, who is losing his business due to overwhelming debt. Old addictions have returned; he is drinking heavily. He is currently estranged from his family. His mother is Mrs. Cop’s kid sister.
8/12 – Joe Kidd asked for prayers for a friend’s cousin, who is beginning chemo treatments for stage 3 cancer.
8/11: Donna V with &&&&&& contacted Mis. Hum. to let the Horde know the following: "Please let the horde know I am doing fine in hospice". She would appreciate your prayers.

Hubby has decided to retire and told his boss he'll be out by Sept.
He says we have enough saved and he is just done with the stress.
I am very anxious about all this.

15 I couldn’t sleep at 4AM wondering about Baby Gabriel’s BIRTH mother. Is she going to be bankrupted by medical bills for the baby that the courts won’t let her even touch?
In my book, McKenna West is a saint. Maybe the local Catholics ought to investigate Baby Gabriel’s live birth as a possible accredited miracle.

17 I am asking for prayers for my wife. She is diabetic, and had a bad day yesterday with weakness, nausea and vomiting. No fever, but rapid, irregular pulse, high blood pressure, and low oxygen saturation. She has had three episodes of sepsis in the past. We took her to the ER at the same hospital that recently saved my life, and they completely dropped the ball, other than giving her IV meds for nausea. We are at home, waiting for delivery of the new oral version of the nausea medicine. Pray that it works and she recovers quickly. Thanks to all and my prayers to all on the list

we are all red light deprived because of LEDs and efficient windows blocking most of the sunlight's spectrum

It says we need whole light at a cellular level and there are studies that show red light can improve of lots of stuff - blood sugar, diabetes etc

They speculate that much of the explosion of illnesses including cancer may be due to whole light deprivation, or what they call "red-light scurvy"

Somebody said in the last thread that he didn't get a free bookcase with his set of the Britannica. Neither did I; I bought it at one of the huge furniture stores in Denver. Bookcases are hard to find now and I'd like to hang on to this one.

27 Field Report - Mr. Bookman’s sage advice regarding the wisdom of storing a jar of freeze-dried Coffee notwithstanding, an additional layer of sageyness can be had with Folger’s “singles”.

Coffee in a tea-bag format. Not great coffee, but far better than any freeze-dried. Might want to use 2 if you take it strong. Individually wrapped foil packets, long shelf life.

Article suggested either get out in the sun more (even fully covered up for uv ptotection) so you get the longer wavelengths

Or get an incandescent bulb and put it on a dimmer

Interesting. I've been trying to decide whether the red light devices are quackery, or if they really do something. They are approved for purchase with an HSA, so apparently, the medical establishment*** thinks they have some value.

44 Fen, you mentioned at the end of the Tech Thread how the new kitten still greets you at the door. Perfessor Squirrel said they grow out of that phase. Well, some of mine have, but most still were right there at the door when I came home; Stirling certainly still does it at age four, and both Chekov and Wolf were doing it at more than twice that age.

Big red Arizona would sniff me when I came home. He'd duck his head away from my hand until he finished checking out where I'd been, whatever signals he was reading, and then he was fine with petting. I guess he wanted to make sure I was me.

Yes. Yes they do, although sometimes they are hard to find. Online ordering seems to think Keurig is the only option. I keep a box in reserve. Strategic reserve Coffee.

I used to buy Madaglia D’oro freeze-dried for long hikes, said to be a good brand. The grocer was out of stock for their store brand cheap stuff. I subbed this as an alternative. It is now supplied in an Aspirin bottle sized container. I must be growing in size, everything I buy is shrinking dramatically.

Sure, COJ, if you can code-post your email.

The seller is also going to re-stain the deck before closing, so it should be ready to use. There's a small stretch of yard between it and the garage, which to me is good; I don't want to mow a big yard. Plus, when it's raining or snowing, I won't have to lug a bunch of grocery bags a great distance from the garage to my back door.

No front porch, but there is a little foyer right inside the front door; I could sit there in colder weather if I want to.

67 Sunlight is a great antibiotic. I had a lesion on my lower leg recently that while not seeming serious, would not heal and lingered far more than it should have. I realized it was infected and starting to spread, and looking quite ugly.

Thanks to my wife’s urging, the key to healing was making myself sit outside and make sure that the area got at least 30 minutes of full, hot sunlight for 6 days. Amazingly it began to dry up and recede quite quickly with that.

I've started reading the Dune series by Frank Herbert. So far I'm on Dune: Messiah. Very short book. Only 155 pages in the omnibus edition I'm reading.

To get into the spirit, I had a couple of cinnamon rolls for breakfast and now I'm drinking cocoa with a dash of cinnamon in it.

I'm tempted to season ALL my food with cinnamon if only to simulate what it would be like to have food that tastes of "spice."

Mrs. Lloyd was very insistent that I go to Mass today and bring her a Host. I was skeptical on the time frame, and have (sadly) been vindicated.

Perhaps. Anything in possible, but between the Dems nominating crackpots for otherwise competitive seats and the Trump DoJ breathing down the necks of election officials, I think we're going to see the GOP exceed expectations.

The entire premise of elections is fake. The modeling, demographic assumptions, all of it. Mail-in voting was created to cheat, and the USPS forcing tracking will stomp on that, as will audits after the fact. The Overton Window has shifted and the fact that the Dems rigged their own primaries is making even them skeptical of the system.

Well, some of mine have, but most still were right there at the door when I came home; Stirling certainly still does it at age four, and both Chekov and Wolf were doing it at more than twice that age.

Big red Arizona would sniff me when I came home. He'd duck his head away from my hand until he finished checking out where I'd been, whatever signals he was reading, and then he was fine with petting. I guess he wanted to make sure I was me.

A district judge ruled it unconstitutional on tax grounds (not 2A) but stayed the opinion for seven days for the DoJ to make an appeal. DoJ declined. The ruling only applies to the plaintiffs, but Brandon Herrera and a bunch of dudes filmed themselves violating it, and the DoJ will probably voluntarily drop enforcement and rewrite regs to comply with the ruling.

Trump gets beaten up a lot for not being God and fixing every American problem, but that's a huge win, an epic win, and I suspect that will boost GOP turnout because the Dems will immediately threaten to reimpose it.

I read about a couple court cases that have some connection to Flock surveillance devices (and other devices like them.)

It's based on 4th amendment "search" definitions. Computer based searches are included. Most, if not all of the searching done on surveillance data is done without a warrant. Whether that's illegal or not is the question being debated.

I'm sure the issue is more complicated, but this is my amateur take on it.

I've started reading the Dune series by Frank Herbert. So far I'm on Dune: Messiah. Very short book. Only 155 pages in the omnibus edition I'm reading.

To get into the spirit, I had a couple of cinnamon rolls for breakfast and now I'm drinking cocoa with a dash of cinnamon in it.

I'm tempted to season ALL my food with cinnamon if only to simulate what it would be like to have food that tastes of "spice."

God bless you. The annoying thing about anxiety is that it disguises itself as foreboding, but it isn't. It takes a while to work through it and discern actual foreboding from irrational fear. I believe prayer is essential in making this determination.

Something I've noticed about many of the "All is lost!!!" commentors is that most of them never appear during the Prayer Thread (or very late, after it's lost focus). They seem to have a blind-spot when it comes to accepting that "man proposes, but God disposes" ... so they don't have the peace-of-mind of taking events as part of God's ultimate plan.

Herbert's books are something of a paradox. The first book is by far the best because it is very dense - lots of things happening, lots of action, incredible background (especially for the time).

But his actual writing style is terrible. National Lampoon did a parody of it ("Doon") and he gave them a lot of material to work with, especially his oddball repetitiveness and pointless internal monologues.

The successive books were better in terms of writing, and maybe his got better, or maybe he got a better editor. But the plots got thinner and thinner, building up to something profound that turned out to be lame.

Fun fact: the first three books were (at the time) billed as a trilogy, and then he decided to write more books, which is how you got Children of a Lesser Dune, Oh God More Dune and Enough With The Dune Thing.

And then his son strip-mined the setting.

They have to do this to adjust, noise handling, signal conditioning, it even ties into how they direct packets around. And all that information is location and time based and is sent for active processing. Now they could at that point throw all that away. Does that sound like something any tech company of this millennia would do?

Now I'm certainly not saying that I'm aware of specific companies that have marketed surveillance tools using that network data to track things, things that aren't even cell phones. For a long long time. No, not all.

But I'm inviting you to understand that they could.

A lot of people thing breaking news is actually breaking, like it was just discovered. It is not. Stories are "broken" when it is convenient to the people breaking them, and this is doubly true when it is older stuff just coming to light.

Abdul El-Sayed DeathtoAmerica Jihadi's behavior was known, but the GOP held it close until after the nomination was secure. None of the Dems had the stomach to use it, likely because they thought they could just fudge the ballots but the DoJ's monitors checkmated that maneuver.

There is much, much more coming. You can't waste an October Surprise in August. Those will hit in about three weeks and it's going to be a dense pack strategy, where every news cycle there will be new revelations about different stuff.

I don't know if I've ever witnessed a lady drinking black coffee. I'm sure there are plenty. But most I've seen, are dudes. For me, I just didn't like the hassle of doing anything extra, I try powdered creamer from time to time, and get sick of it. I like real cream in coffee but I'll never have that at work where I drink coffee the most. So, I've just gotten used to the taste over the past 35 ish years of drinking coffee. And I've cut out most all sweets so bitter isn't as harsh to me.

We are back home; out of the hospital, obvi - got to go back a second time to the ER in Cali. We took a boat ride of SF harbor at the grandsons' request - the boat hit a swell as I was walking around, and there wasn't anything to grab onto, so I took a nasty tumble and hit my head. Got a nice-sized goose egg for my troubles (hence the ER visit), but CT scan showed no damage, so I didn't have to stay.

I think that San Francisco just doesn't like me!
