For those who missed it.... sadly, I was not selected for the job. The recruiter is supposed to ask 'why not' and get back to me. I am so frustrated today I just can't even. The only other 'lead' I had that was recent, had gone silent - I had assumed it was 'nevermind'-ed. I reached out to that recruiter anyway, and he said the client has gone silent on them. Who the heck knows anymore anything.

Continued prayers, please.

I have faith that God has a plan for me but dangit I'm getting real tired of this. I'd like to see some signs on which path I'm supposed to take, please.

37 I had a very cool college roommate who ate squirrel regularly. And, not that canned crap. He'd stoop to recent roadkill. The dude was a biology major and always had cool little tricks to keep us entertained. One of our neighbors liked to play music outside so loud that they could hear it in the next county. No problem. He kept a supply of Bee pheromones, went over and chatted with the guy will covertly sprinkling it on his patio. Less than an hour later there was a carpet of bees right before his patio door. The topper was that (we'll call my friend Craig) convinced the guy that his music drew the bees out. Craig was just a fun guy to have around inclusive of the sun lamp garden of questionable plants in his closet that might have been illegal at the time.

I'm sorry.

I don't know if you looked into it, but after Mom passed I did look into online AI jobs. Apparently, there are things that you can do such as data labelling and stuff and actually get paid.

You'd have to check everything out in terms of legitimacy but that was something I was considering.

I'm still working on my own projects. And hoping to get stuff out the door soon. I'm excited about that.

66 Aw, RandomDave, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope you get answers or info from your recruiter soon. I'd bet there was a small difference between you and another candidate. I did some hiring at my last job and can tell you that it usually comes down to weighing tiny factors. After all, by the time interviewees are chosen, the pool has been narrowed to the closest matches for the job. It can be a tough decision for the employer.

Sort of like four days this week alternating the baby grandgirl with her older siblings. The 8yr old grandson & 5yr old girlie spent the night.

Reading one of her favorite books that I bought 7yrs ago called Going to School by Suzanne Green. Kitties that are dressed & photos taken. Even with the first page saying to PETA that the photos are taken with high shutter speeds & no drugs or cruelty the book was discontinued. Amazon: $30. On ebay it is worth over $100. I'd promised I'd buy one for her best friend but I don't like her this much. I paid $7 for it. She fell out laughing at one kitty's face and I joined her. When we get like this we can't stop for awhile. My dude and her bro heard us from downstairs. We have the same laugh and look alike and I never dreamed I'd have her one day. I guess I will send the kitty photo via text to her Mom.

The laundry dial looks like how our sons did laundry in college. Eldest son, his freshman year in an apt with washer/dryer, solved the underwear problem by buying new ones and throwing used ones away every month. We raised morons.

My part of Canada - September - after Labor Day.

Since Ralphy turned 15, 105 in dog years I guess, I've been congratulating him on making it through each day and making it through the night. It started as a joke but has increased my gratitude levels.

Last night at 2am, I got up, Snowflake got up, Ralphy got up. Ralphy got a burst of energy, chased Snowflake and actually trapped her between the door and wall.

Quick tag with the nose. She was it. Game over.

Snowflake looked stunned the old guy was that quick so early in the morning.

I was very opposed to their private school daycare but it's worked out well to meet at 2yrs and some go through 12th grade together. Three classes per grade and very good academics.

Last year the PreK 4yr old girl introduced me to Libby at their Christmas play. Informed me in front of her mother that she bites. I quietly told her not to say this in the future.

When she was 2yrs old I figured she'd survive daycare when she started stealing snacks from slow or picky eaters. Then demanding "pouches" from the teacher. I had pride she was a survivor then and no more worries. Her parents were the only ones who were requested to buy more food for our little piggie thief.

For those who missed it.... sadly, I was not selected for the job. The recruiter is supposed to ask 'why not' and get back to me. I am so frustrated today I just can't even. The only other 'lead' I had that was recent, had gone silent - I had assumed it was 'nevermind'-ed. I reached out to that recruiter anyway, and he said the client has gone silent on them. Who the heck knows anymore anything.

I have faith that God has a plan for me but dangit I'm getting real tired of this. I'd like to see some signs on which path I'm supposed to take, please.

My rule was to punish the one boy not crying. I only popped the youngest on his diapered behind once. He'd left a full teeth imprint in his older brother's bare shoulder. The screams alerted me to the playroom. He was 2yrs and bro 4yrs aka the Chimp Era.

I asked why he bit his brother. Because he was stepping on his quilt's arm. He slept with the quilt and did not drag it around like Linus. Until then I did not know Quiltie was an entity or had arms.

I feel sure his bitten brother was messing with him over and over and he simply snapped.

Right now, we are remodeling so we don't have a washer or dryer. I go to the local laundromat, which is old, small, hot, and half the machines don't work. A single wash load is $5. It ain't cheap. But I'm done in two hours, which is okay with me.

And I end up with the same size clothes I went in with.

Yep. My brother and I were the same til he got stronger than me when he was in junior high. Bummer. We fought like savages over the remote control starting in 5th grade (me) and 3rd for him. Sent to our rooms. We then called each other names over the intercom with our parents listening downstairs. I once catapulted him up five stairs and he hit the door with a loud thud. I got in more trouble but it was totally worth it.

The main thing our grands fought over here physically (to our muffled laughter) was a child's mop. I said I will buy two rakes and snow shovels but I will not buy another mop.

I am going to mount that mop whenever all the grands are grown. Like a trophy.

Thats why I don't touch mrs B's clothes. because these get washed with "this" cycle, and with "that" soap, and those get washed with "that" cycle, and "that" soap. The "these" get dried for "this" many minutes and then get hung, and "those" can stay in the dryer to the end at "this" drying temperature. No going there, nope. I look at the wash machine as a big parts washer. All my shit goes in at once, except whites.

119 Made solid progress on two fronts today. Got the first run of conduit with three octagon boxes and lampholders securely attached to the ceiling, with screws going into the ceiling joists. It's not going to fall down. Got LED "high bay" lights in the lampholders, and hooked up a temporary power cord so I could plug it into an outlet. I haz lights! Now that it is dark out, I will go out and see how they perform, absent daylight.

And I got several layers of new fiberglass slapped on the three corners of the dune buggy body that are under repair, and with new hardener, the resin set up just fine. Those corners are now effectively done on the outside.

Utterly ridiculous. If hitting equates with child abuse, then one swat is still hitting. Some children do not respond to other forms of punishment.

My parents' generation did not consider discipline to be abuse.

That said, my mom held me down while my dad beat me black and blue once. I think he was angry enough to cause permanent damage and I'm not at all certain why he stopped. I guess since I refused to yell or cry, he finally gave up.

I doubt either one of them ever regretted doing that. I guess that certainly counts as abuse.

137 Well, I went out to the shop, which was pretty dark inside, despite it being bright twilight outside. Flipped on the lights. Wow! The contrast between the hoist bay, which has the new lights, and the rest of the building, now lit by 3 8-foot "high-output" fluorescent fixtures, is stunning. The new white roofing tin on the top 6 feet of the walls certainly helps, too, reflecting light down and around.

Made all the trouble worthwhile.

Yes. I did this one time when our father caught us up in a neighbor's tree. He'd told us she complained and to stop. I remember him in his car below us telling us to go home. Went home that summer day and got a switch.

He left a welt on my calf and his own mother told him she wanted to switch him when she saw it. He never did that again.

The problem with me and spankings was that I'd laugh when I saw him sitting on the closed toilet as the bathroom was the spanking room. I had to fake cry while my brother wailed enough for both of us. Daddy knew and would ask me if I'd had enough (he'd crack his belt near but not hit us). Yais.

Spankings were thankfully rare as I remember them. Once because (age 5) I lied that I'd eaten all my fried oysters that I hated. They watched me stuff my mouth and go spit in the toilet. Then asked if I was ready for dessert and I was. I got spanked due to lying and never had to eat oysters again. Worth it.

My parents had no fucks to give when it came to whacking us, BUT, because of that they didn't need to do it often because we knew they meant business. My mother's approach was pretty direct. I can still hear her "we're going into that woman's house, and if you touch anything I'll break your fucking fingers". Her other biggie was threatening to drop us off in the ghetto, and with my grandparents all being from east orange, which was pretty close to Newark, we knew exactly what that meant. The upside was any time we were out people would compliment my mother on her "well behaved children".

I, unfortunately, inconvenienced my parents after they ignored me all morning. I asked permission, but they never acknowledged me. So I did it anyway, and they ended up beating hell out of me.

Not the same thing, at all.

I learned to never be noticed for anything after that. I became the invisible kid. It wasn't particularly healthy, but it kept them from beating me, so I guess it worked. I also assumed that what they did was a perfectly normal response to my bad behavior. It wasn't.

Sort it by weight and color. Put the lightest fabric in first, so it goes in the dryer first, and dries by the time the next load is ready to go to the dryer. Heavy fabric goes last because it takes the longest to dry.
Never dry the red or indigo clothes with the whites unless you intend everthing to eventually turn pinkish grey.

You can line dry the clothes if the weather is dry enough, and save more money.

Oregon flooded the same year, and it wiped out a number of major cities on the Willamette, like Old Town Independence and Champoeg. Part of that was because of the extremely deep snows in the Cascades, followed by a heavy Chinook that dropped heavy rains and melted the snowpack. One more disaster we don't need here.

I got a CAC scan a couple years ago, because I have hbp and a weird stress test. But I got a perfect score, no plaque, that plus a "boring" echocardiogram, so the cardiologist told me to begone, and never darken his door again.

241 Evenin', Hordelings. It's been a busy day - I ran errands, did yard work, exercised, assembled a little electronics project, and cooked dinner. I wasn't supposed to have the day off, but everything got canceled or rescheduled at the last minute so yay for Pablo.

As for the canned squirrel, I've had plenty of freshly harvested and cooked limb rat but I think I'll pass on the Chicken of the Tree.
