At one time that's the term Alaska Statutes used (or maybe still uses).
I know this because a guy I used to know got caught using the Spenard Sportfishing technique (bashing salmon with rocks then wading out to pick them up). The charge was "molesting wildlife", which I gather provided a great deal of amusement for the other guys on the chain when they were brought in for arraignment the next morning.
As he told the tale, several of them caught contempt charges because they couldn't stop laughing.

Well, they didn't make a Scotsman Champ. The entire Scotsman line went away when the Lark model was introduced. They did make Scotsman pickups in '58 - '59, and they were basically throwbacks to the early '50's models. The Champ pickup was introduced in 1960, and its cab was based on the front half of a Lark 4-door sedan. They should have used a 2-door sedan; the longer doors would have made for a much roomier cab.

Pie is what I do. Pi radians determine how much pie you get. I used to get invited to Sunday dinner at my parents' house if I brought pie. I got very good at it.
Apple, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, chocolate silk, banana cream, chess, pumpkin, cranberry walnut, mincemeat, blueberry dream, lemon shaker, lemon merengue, and the occasional odd chicken pot pie. And others from time to time, but I would need recipes for them. I don't for any of the above.
You will have to fight with DH over the number of pi radians you receive. He may eat all of it.

With the shim on the inverted body tub, it was clear that the body was about an inch short in the attaching flange area. I clamped the shim securely at the rear, where it fit pretty well, and went to work at the front. I ran the sawzall down both sides, and inch back from the front toeboard, almost to the top rail of the body. I could then push the bottom of the toeboard forward until it flange mated pretty well with the shim. Clamped that. Went around the perimeter, pulling the body flange into close alignment with the shim, clamping them, drill out the mount hole in the fiberglass flange, and fasten with a bolt and washers. All done. Drove 5 Tek screws through the mounting flange into the front arch of the shim (no bolt holes there). Weather permitting tomorrow, I will use mat and resin to rebuild the front corners where I made the saw cuts.

Also, the Judge in this case limited protection to members of Gun Owners of America and other named plaintiffs.
We fought for a nationwide injunction, but the Judge did not grant it to us.
So, because of the ruling, we're encouraging everyone who would like protection from the National Firearms Act's registration requirements to become GOA members.

For Christmas one year I got the Jonny 7 in 1 attack rifle with Screaming Mesmee grenade attachment. The Grenade was this big red thing that would shoot off the end of your rifle with a spring load or something, and it would make this loud wailing WOWowWowowWOWow shrieking sound.
Cats and dogs and younger siblings just loved it.

My blackcaps did very well for plants I dug up and transplanted from the woods. The thimbleberries have lush leaves and thick canes and have not given me one berry so I am going to dig them up and put in some Marionberries instead.
I think both of them will survive the root rot that killed my raspberries. And if not, I will burn them down and put them elsewhere.
I can only do so much blackberry jam, though. I have done a case of jars so far, and I am trying to cut back on sugar. I might try to make some blackberry cordial, though maybe not. I bought a fifth of cheap white rum for baking, and I only use so much for that.
My late plums are coming next, and I will be canning and drying those until I see them in my sleep, do I may decide to not.

A sphere is almost perfect symmetry. Almost divine symmetry, you might call it. A 2-sphere (the surface of a "3-ball" ) has constant positive Gaussian curvature, just 1/r^2, where is the radius.
Every point a sphere is the same as any other.
The development of differential geometry is a fascinating thing. From Gauss to Riemann, who perfected it. And there it was, something abstract theory of curvature of spaces of arbitrary dimension that just sat on a shelf, seemingly some abstract thing with no real physical usefullness. Then Einstein came along with General Relativity.

The Poincare Conjecture was all about spheres. Is any simply connected surface (no holes, meaning you can contract a closed curve down to a point without hitting anything) topologically equivalent to a sphere.
The crazy thing was it it was proven in dimensions of 5 or greater well before, and was relatively easy. Then came 4 dimensions.
Proving it for 3 dimensions was a bitch. It was finally proven in 2003 by a reclusive Russian mathematician, who looks like Rasputin.

That is a beautiful thing, and Gauss was just blown away by that result. Thus we have the distinction between intrinsic and extrinsic curvature.
Take a cylinder (infinitely long). That has extrinsic curvature, it must curve in the 3D embedding space, but *on the surface*, using only 2D measurements you can make, it is completely flat, zero Gaussian curvature. There's that property of wrapping around back to where you started in one of the dimensions, but that's just a bit of topological distinction, not the intrinsic geometry.
We tend to want to think of curved surfaces (or higher dimensional curved spaces) in terms of some higher dimensional, flat Euclidean embedding space. We can see "why" the metric is so weird and not Euclidean.
The intrinsic curvature picture says forget about the embedding spaces. A space need not have any higher dimensions in which to curve. Just take the surface for it is, a non-Euclidian geometry.

The amazing thing about curvature. In 2D, it takes just one scalar to characterize the curvature at any point. That number is the Gaussian curvature.
In 3D, it takes 6 scalars to fully describe. You can think of this as the more complicated ways that a 3D space can curve. You've got just one "plane" in 2D. In 3D, you have three local planes.
And those 6 numbers correspond to a rank-2 symmetric tensor (think of it as a matrix), dubbed the Ricci curvature.
For dimension 4 and higher, well, you need a *rank-4* tensor, dubbed the Riemann curvature tensor to fully describe. Thus for a higher dimensions than 3, you need a 4 dimensional mathematical object itself to describe the space.

Consider some little ants, flatlanders they're sometimes called, living on the surface of 2 sphere. They've learned Euclidean geometry. They think they live on a flat plane, because they are so small relative to the radius.
If they started making local measurements over long enough spans, they would start noticing some crazy things. They would find the circumference of a circle was *less* than 2pi*r, and the area of that circle was *more* than pi*r^2. They would find that the sum of the angles of a triangle was *more* than 180 degrees.
And, if they started walking in opposite directions at right angles to each other, they find they eventually met each other again. Their straight line paths converge (at the antipode of their starting point).
They would think that was impossible.

Turns out you need a 6-dimensional space to smoothly embed this. It might be possible to do it in 5 or even 4 dimensions, but they haven't figured that out yet. But a 6D embedding is known.

A little caution about "space" in General Relativity, hell just SR too. The notion of space is purely *coordinate dependent*. One man's space is another man's time. This, is well, somewhat difficult to wrap your head around at first blush. :-)
Now, cosmologists like to use a preferred reference frame for the FLRW spacetimes, dubbed the comoving coordinates. This has a natural reason, but they tend to forget it's just an arbitrary choice.
GR and the curvature is about *spacetime*, space and time together in a 4D (psuedo-) Riemannian structure.
On the one, those 4D are 1 dimension of time and 3 dimensions of space, but they get mixed up as a matter of coordinate choice.
So whether "space" is flat, open hyperbolic, or closed "elliptical" is a coordinate question. Is does correspond to an actual invariant, though, and that is the critical density.
But in other choices of coordinates, space would be different.

This gets well beyond my own ability here. Critical density (ignoring a cosmological constant/dark energy) is basically about whether the universe will expand forever or stop and the contract, falling back on itself in a Big Crunch. The critical density would be just when, well it's like when a radial speed was exactly equal to escape velocity. You would "stop" at infinity. Greater than escape, you're still moving at infinity. Less than escape velocity, and you stop and start falling back in finite time.

Now, spacetime, even flat spacetime (Minkowski spacetime) is non-Euclidean from the get-go.
The "distance" in spacetime is non-positive definite. They don't even call it "distance" for this reason, but use the "separation" or the "interval".
In positive definite land, the notion of distance is always positive (or zero). It's the old Pythagorean sum of squares thing.
Now, the interval in spacetime is the *difference* of the squares of space and the square of time. The interval can be *negative*, as well as positive or zero. Which one is positive and which is negative is a matter of choice. I prefer the positive timelike convention, but the positive spacelike is very convenient in some cases.
If the seperation is positive, it is "timelike" meaning conceivable the two events could occur at the same plane at different times. If negative, it's "spacelike" meaning form some observer the events would occur at different places at the same time.
If zero, it's null or lightlike, meaning the events lie on the path light would travel.
There is no "real" geometry you can imagine where distance can be negative. That's were the "pseudo-" on Riemannian comes from.

That difference of squares things explains the Twin paradox nicely. In positive definite, sum of squares flatland, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Any other path will be longer.
In difference of squares, Minkowski flatland, a straight line is the *longest distance* between two points (events). All other timelike paths are shorter.
Hence, the inertial path also has the longest proper time. Any accelerated path will accumulate less proper time. Your twin, who must accelerate to get back to you, will always be younger.

Bingo! Acceleration, *real* acceleration is an invariant. This is known as proper acceleration. This is different from coordinate acceleration. When you're really accelerating, you "feel a force", an inertial force. G force.
When you're in free fall, you feel no force. Until you hit the ground. You're not really accelerating in gravity, it's because your geodesics are curved.

That will get you into the nitty gritty of coordinate vs proper acceleration, and also of whether Lorentz contraction is "real" or just a coordinate artifact. But the coolest thing about Latin IMO is their future passive participle, meaning "needing to be". For example "Amanda" is "She who must be loved," and "reverend" is "he who must be revered." BTW, the speed of light, c, is now defined, not measured. The meter is defined in terms of how far light travels in a given time.
Also, the kilogram is no longer defined as that "hunk of metal in Paris". Planck's constant is now defined, not measured, and knowing c, and h, the kilogram is now derived. It was only recently that the technology to do that became practical. See the "Watt balance".

I watched this play out in San Antonio when the city council got term limits.
