Well, now my willowed post is on-topic here:
Anyway - if you look at enough of these videos, cooking, baking and the like, you see that the thumbnail advice to Creators is to have a woman holding food in the thumbnail. That's like 85% of these videos. They hold the food, they present the food, I guess it gets clicks or literally everyone wouldn't be doing it.
So obviously not the case in the ones where it's men. I think the men generally just show the food. But just go with me.

If you are concerned about third party install and can find a good price on a new Pixel, installing Grapheneos is actually not too bad. I was able to pull it off and have had no issues since install, and its been a couple months now.

I always wonder about that. In christ's time other than a noble, lord, royalty, etc, who actually had any comfort? You lived in a blast furnace with no AC, you slept on straw, you walked in dusty streets wearing a sheet, you ate bread every day if you had the strength to grind the wheat between 2 frigging rocks, or you fished (did I mention how I hate seafood?), the razor obviously wasn't invented because you had to deal ZZ Top epic beards in that heat, and on and on. I didn't like that because it used "grand uncle" and so forth. That was never common usage, the brother of your grandparent is a great uncle. And that's pretty standard.
However it turns out genealogists actually prefer "grand" for that level because of the symmetry with grandparents. So they use that and say to hell with common usage.

Speaking of the cousin thing, I laughed my butt off at a story my mother's first roommate told me. She was trying to figure out who we were (turns out we were related through my maternal grandmother's mother's side).
Anyway, trying to get a handle on who my local neigbors were, she knew one well, and told a funny story. He hit on her in a bar, not knowing who she was. They were second cousins, and she knew it.
She let him go on for a while, even leading him on a bit, then dropped a mention of "aunt so-and-so"... She said he got a look on his face, and then she confirmed the relation.
That just stopped him dead in his tracks, and he slinked off. Now, if he knew I knew that, he would be mortified.

Consanguinity is the term for that. It sort of goes as 2^(-n), but it gets a bit complex. Sibling are 1/2, n = 1, but first cousins are n = 3, and second cousins are n = 5.
Danger level is 2nd cousins. 3rd cousin level or greater is not anything to worry about.

GM canceled the program, which left AMC stuffing their venerable straight 6 into it. The Hornet sold pretty well and folks would rather have a cheap Hornet than a Pacer, since it was basically the same car. I rented a Pacer in 1975 and liked it.

This consanguinity and the "coefficient of relationship" thing gets complex. It depends on how far you go back, and various population bottlenecks and all kinds of complicated shit.
For a relatively short term lookback at the Western population, you'd expect two random people to be somewhere between 13th to 15th cousins.
If you go way back (we would all share the same great-great-great.....great-grandparents) only at some point in the distant pre-historic past (Younger-Dryas, anyone? :-) )
Running the numbers on that, it knocks it down to 7th to 9th cousins.

We had one as a job site car. We kept it at the shop and used it for running around doing things that didn't require the vans. It was silly on gas. It used $10 of gas per week. It had a powerful 6 cylinder engine, and because it was a manual trans it would chirp the tires. It was quick. I was dating Mrs B at the time and picked her up in it one night. Thing must've been in the RustBelt for its entire existence: floorboards were so rotted, could see the road through *several* holes, both front & rear seating areas. Hole under front passenger's feet, was covered with a sturdy floormat. Easily pulled back for quick disposal of empty beer cans. Heh.

Mrs B had a beautiful 1970 Chevelle when I met her. Midnight blue, 350 engine, with 49,000 original miles. She only had it about 3 years. By the time she got done with it it looked like king kong played fucking soccer with it. Not a straight panel on it. One day she drove past the house and the whole side was just about pealed off of it. None of it was her fault, but she was out at night when the drunks were out, and was probably half lit herself. Just enough to not be watching for assholes. That poor car.

A related and quite interesting question is the minimum number of people needed to repopulate the Erf (or minimum number needed to start a colony on another planet).
The Adam and Eve scenario wouldn't work. That would degenerate into an inbreeding collapse in short order.
Turns out about 50, carefully selected not to be related and all genetic diseases screened out would do it. 25 breeding pairs, but the breeding would have to be very carefully controlled for quite a few generations.
And those 25 pairings would be one-shot only. You couldn't have the same man and same woman have multiple children. It would be each woman had to have children from each man to maximize the mixing of the original genes. And likewise for the later generations, getting a bit complex, but the goal is to make each pairing as different as possible.
Now, to do it the normal, monogamous way, the minimum number would be a few thousand.

Aw, that's a shame! Ours had the 305(?). Not sure what color it was originally, the paint was so faded it looked mint green/silver. Thing usually fired on only 6 or 7 cylinders, got *terrible* mileage, and frequently needed jump start.
We was POOR! And knew that we'd be leaving within 6 months, so why fix it up? Just keep it running long enough to sell (cheap!) to some other poor shmuck, later.

A friend up mine was driving was driving a dodge duster up until maybe 2 years ago. It was thee most rusted piece of shit I ever saw. I looked under the car and never sat in it again. The quarter panels were missing halfway up, just rotted away. the floors were patched with sheet metal, or aluminum with 100's of self taping screws. The whole bottom of the car looked like a bed of nails. The frame was so rotted the car was ready to break in half. He tried to jack it up one day and the floor jack crushed the frame. There was 1 inch of rusted metal holding the front leaf spring perch to the car's structure on the drivers side. It had a slightly tweaked small block in it too. He cut the car up with cut off wheels and tossed it out in pieces. We flipped both halves over on their back and the true horror was there for all to see under the sun. I can't believe the car didn't break in half.

That number for us is only about 10 - 20K! Of all the billions of people, the effective size is only that.

I have a shelf across the shop with a cardboard street scene I built that I shoot 1/64th scale army men off of. It's 14 meters away and I can call shots on the bigger ones. I got fairly big gears in the rear of the roadrunner. They're 3.73s, not real bad, but not highway gears by a long shot. A long highway drive would seriously blow ass in that thing, not to mention you would watch the gas gauge move.

Yep. A portion of population pinches off from the main group, different environment. Selection pressures and mutations then transform it. After a while it can no longer breed with its ancestor species.
Then there's horizontal gene transfer. They used to think that would be impossible for complex organisms like us. But it does happen. It happens in bacteria and simpler things all the time.
But it happens in humans, rarely and slowly through viruses, bacterial infenctions and parasites.

Health update: I'm fine. Earlier today I started having incredibly painful back spasms whenever I moved. Gingy came home & I was lying on the bed reading.
"How are you?"
"Other than the fact that I can't move, I'm fine"
Every time I moved, it felt like (not that I've actually experienced this, but if I ever do, I'm pretty sure that it'll be familiar) someone stabbed me in the left small of my back with a knife. Sharp, intense, excruciating pain. I used up a wounded pirate's month's ration of cuss words today.
After examination and CT scan, the treatment was some pills, two injections in my butt & a Lidocaine patch. (When I lowered my drawers to get the shots, Gingy called out "I see your butt!" I replied "Woman, my penis has been inside of you thousands of times. Why is seeing my butt an issue?" The male nurse who was giving the shots almost fell off his stool laughing)
Long story short, it worked. I'm still getting occasional twinges, but the situation seems to have been resolved.
Sorry to everyone that I wasn't able to post an ONT, but Doof stepped up, and for that I'm grateful. See y'all next week!

Our our most recent common ancestor is thought to be Homo heidelbergensis, but there's a lot of disagreement and nuance with that.
That ancestor population experienced a severe bottleneck just under 1 million years ago, and it lasted about 100,000 years. That would be in the early Pleistocene.

No, I was curious enough to check, and it's languishing in committee since January of last year. It's most prominent opponent is Tom Cotton, who is not on the relevant committee himself, but (I didn't know this) is Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference. Pretty good, in this case. It helps explain the House's carelessness, passing a bill (permanent Daylight Saving) that had been tried and reversed before. If they were taking it seriously, it would make more sense to try something different (permanent Standard Time) or make no changes. If they were confident it would go nowhere, then the details wouldn't matter, as long as they performed some proof of effort for the inevitable re-election campaign.

This DST vs standard time thing is a latitude and too far west/east of time zone meridian thing. At first blush, you might figure it's 50/50. It's really probably a 30/30/30 split.
A third would like standard time year round, a third one like daylight year round, and the other third, while professing to hate the time change, really wouldn't like either. And that split varies with latitude and time zone meridian offsets.
Down in Florida, low latitude, it doesn't matter much at all.

We did 23 and me with our son, because he is adopted and we know nearly nothing about his ancestry. Turns out, he is 99.something Mayan, so that's not a mystery anymore, but he had a lot of Neanderthal genes, compared to us white-bread boring Europeans. Makes me wonder who came across that land bridge in AK and who didn't bother to. I was just looking at the meridian map vs actual time zone boundaries.
An oft mentioned compromise for permanent time is just shift 30 minutes ahead. Our Jim from Galveston was a big fan of that.
Now, looking at the meridians, save from maybe Maine in the US, we don't have any areas too far east of the boundaries, but Eastern, Central, and Mountain all have areas too far west.
Now, that 30 minute thing would be the equivalent of shifting the central meridians west a bit, and it looks like it might just work well. That might shift Pacific too far east at the current boundaries a smidge, but it would work well everywhere else, except for eastern Maine.
So, we'd still have one hour offsets internally, but it would give 30 minute shift relative to Zulu, which would be a little complication.

That's a prime example of how latitude changes perspectives, and since the US spans quite a range of latitude, we have the conflict.
Up that high, the range of daylight is so wide, that no matter which, sunrise is very late and sunset is very early winter, and and vice versa in summer. It doesn't matter to you.
And closer to the equator, there's no much change between summer and winter. They could go with either, and would probably prefer permanent DST.
But in the middle, high enough where daylight does change between summer and winter, but low enough were shifting one hour either way does make a difference in sunrise time vs clock time, it's yet a different situation.
