Man discovers more than 200 Civil War-era cannonballs on his property

BOONEVILLE, Miss. - A Mississippi property owner uncovered more than 200 Civil War-era cannonballs while preparing land for commercial development, and historians believe even more artifacts may still be buried.
Harold Knight said he first found a single cannonball on his Booneville property before inviting people with metal detectors to search the site.
The search quickly turned up hundreds of Civil War munitions, including grape shot, canister shot and case shot, all estimated to be more than 160 years old.
Experts at the Booneville Rails & Trails Museum believe the ammunition is likely connected to either the Battle of Blackland or the Battle of Booneville, two Civil War battles fought in July 1862.

Those look like ten-inch 78 RPM discs. Childrens' music continued to be recorded on 78's long after LPs took over for serious music, and 45's for pop.

147 I went to an MA beach town today and walked down the beach. They wanted $$$ to park, $$$ to walk on the beach but I remembered there was a more obscure public beach in the town so I walked there instead.

I passed a bunch of mansion that cost x10 my house with exclusive beach access, of course with the requisite demanding the rich be taxed, America be opened to the needy, and no aristocrats. And most of the mansions had really serious fences around them.

When I got to the beach it was beautiful.

Good eye! I had forgotten about the bigger spindle hole. On the other hand, those records might be 78’s, a lot of the really early stuff was.

It might have ended, I don't really pay attention. But there used to be annual gathering of Lovecraft fans that would come to Providence every fall and do tours, readings and other Lovecratian things.

Still a bookstore in Providence centered around him. He was crazier than a shit house rat but his stories still have a lot of followers.
