Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino is stepping down after the failure of her "woke" rebrand last year, which was rolled back following intense backlash from loyal customers, the company announced Monday. David Deno, a restaurant exec who most recently served as CEO of Bloomin' Brands, which owns Outback Steakhouse, will replace Masino on August 10, according to a Cracker Barrel press release. Masino will remain at Cracker Barrel in an advisory capacity until October 9 to ensure a smooth transition, the company said. Shares in Cracker Barrel slipped 2.4% Monday. Her departure comes after less than three years at the helm, during which diners revolted against the company's attempts to modernize the Southern dining chain last August by axing its beloved mascot Uncle Herschel and revamping restaurants without its trademark tchotchkes. Following heated backlash from longtime customers and even President Trump himself, Cracker Barrel reversed the changes and leaned into its folksy charm -- ultimately sending the stock up 100% so far this year.I can't help noticing that in four cases -- Bud Light; Cracker Barrel; Star Wars/Lucasfilm; and Disney's Marvel studio -- executives have decided to throw over/ignore the brands' historic male (or traditionalist) customer base in an insane drive to remake them into something Carrie Bradshaw would write about on Sex and the City. In three of those cases, a female executive decided that "old" customer base just wasn't hip and Fashion Forward enough and decided to remake the brand into something that would make her the heroine of her feminist friend circle. In the fourth case, a similar rebrand was performed by Kevin Feige, who is a weak cuck pussy. This is unprofessional, obviously. If you're trusted with a business or brand, it's your job to strengthen the brand's sales, not remake it into something you or your urban coastal liberal galpals would be proud to patronize. (Or matronize.) I don't think this is necessarily something to do with women, but it does have everything to do with feminism, a cult to which a lot of "professional" (or maybe not so professional) women belong to. Men aren't compelled to remake female brands into ones they and their buddies would be proud to spend money on, because there is no political cult popular among men demanding we do that. But many women do belong to the cult of feminism, which demands that every single product or service be made appealing first and foremost to urban coastal liberal women. This is not a business calculation; in terms of business strategy, it's a lunatic disaster, and it was obviously a lunatic disaster before the actual data came in. This is the doctrine of a nasty pseudoreligion. Whether it makes money or loses it hand over fist is besides the point. The important thing is, Women Must See Themselves Represented In All Products at All Times, period.

Note that changing movies for a "modern audience" only goes one way. Action adventure films must have strong wahmen in lead roles, "diverse" casts, and plotlines that resonate emotionally with a female audience.

I’m not sure that’s the basis of the CB rebrand. I think that rebrand was just stupid desperation because sales were falling amidst quality control issues. Plus, a lot of people made a lot of money on the rebrand, so the whole thing seemed to me like looting the company before the chapter 11.

I used to carry a list of CB locations all over the US in my car for road trips and ate there several times a year. Yet, on my run to Evansville in '25 and to Salina, KS, this year, I found myself stopping over and over at Waffle House, and not a single CB.
I hope they can reverse the decline.

I have and old sandbag that has hook ups for shoulder/chest harness but I don't use it anyway. I’m not sure that’s the basis of the CB rebrand. I think that rebrand was just stupid desperation because sales were falling amidst quality control issues. Plus, a lot of people made a lot of money on the rebrand, so the whole thing seemed to me like looting the company before the chapter 11.

Went to one once - had spent the day at the Chickamauga Battlefield Park and Chattanooga park in steaming hot weather and had no hotel and cleaned up in the bathroom, ate a long dinner and cooled off and decided to just drive all the way to Ohio to my mom's house rather than find one. Got there around midnight.

When Krispy Kreme opened its first store in Denver in about '98-'99, people were lining up in their cars to put in an order -- sitting in line for an hour, we were told. I never went. Seems to me I recall passing by the location in '01, not long before I left town, and there were two cars in line.
Either Denver was starved for donut sources -- which I doubt -- or Denver people were so starved for novelty that they were willing to burn gas sitting in line to experience it. Either way it's not a good sign.
We have a KK here in the suburbs. It drove a local shop of Tastee Donuts, which had been across the street for decades, to close down (I don't know if the chain is still extant). Tastee's donuts were about the same quality, but much cheaper -- but KK has its big glossy storefront to impress people.

Down here Krispy Kreme delivers fresh every morning to various convenience stores and supermarkets.
There used to be several KK stores around for a few decades but they closed most of them in the past 20 years, I assume because it was less overhead and made more money just supplying other stores.

We live in very rural Wyoming. The only chain restaurant is Subway and it sucks.
For some reason we have a chinese restaurant and it is awesome. We lived many places in the US. Hands down the chinese restaurant here is the best. Go figure, lol.

the numbers I heard was the suicide rates for before and after subjects was virtually the same (those who backed out and those who did not). But both these were people with dysphoria. I can buy that their control group contains more normal people thus the spike in rates.

Saw "The Odyssey".
I can now see why people like it and hate it.
First,the Like: Very well-made movie. Some great acting. Excellent direction for the set pieces. Clear theme throughout. If you know nothing of "The Odyssey", this is a movie you can enjoy and won't be bored in.
The Hate: The Greeks were basically a shame society. We live in a guilt society. Nolan made a movie for a guilt society.
In a "guilt movie", the hero has to feel guilt over something. In this case, Odysseus feels guilt over his triumph, the Trojan Horse and the Fall of Troy, which totally inverts the story. If this sounds like Ancient Greek Oppenheimer, it is.
I believe Nolan even sneaks in an atomic destruction reference from "The Planet of the Apes"(!) with the Trojan Horse looking more like it was abandoned than left as a gift, half-buried in sand and tilted at the same angle as the Statue of Liberty in TPoTA.
Every triumph or escape from the dangers of that Odysseus and his men encounter is just another chance to portray Odysseus and his men as venal, violent a-holes. This accounts for the flatness of the movie.

Circe pretty much lays it all out in her sequence. And when after Odysseus begging her to return his men. She brings them back form pigs by saying"Return to your disguise. Return to your disguise."
See? they aren't men or brave soldiers in reality, Odysseus and his men are merely pigs in disguise.
This is the inheritance of Nolan using the feminist translation. At some point, we always get the angry feminist view of things from some woman. Again this undercuts the movie and story.
Penelope even complains about the "glass-ceiling" in Greek society that won't allow her to rule as Queen. In a really nice bit of dialogue, she says "I have sat on an empty throne for 20 years." That says it all and much more, buuuuut then she goes on to junk up the clean declaration with a bunch of feminist gobbledygook. Sad.
This even explains the odd casting of "Elliot Page". it's weird trannie looks tend inevitable toward the feminine, and when in hell Odysseus gets a berating from Ol' Elli about his lies that sounds remarkably like a girl's complaint delivered by an oddly feminine looking "boy".
Nolan made the Odyssey guilt trip. He skinned it of meaning a wears it inside out.
