Thune Schemes to Put the Senate Into Recess Until Late August, Ending Any Chance of Passing SAVE Before the Elections

I hate these people.

President Donald Trump on Monday called on Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to keep the Senate in session to terminate the filibuster and pass the SAVE America Act.

Trump took to Truth Social in the morning to pressure Thune to keep senators working in Washington until the SAVE America Act, which takes a number of steps to secure federal elections, is passed.

"John Thune should not allow the United States Senate to 'leave town' until it passes The Save America Act or, far better still, TERMINATES THE FILIBUSTER, where Republicans can then quickly pass everything they ever dreamed of, including a full and deep throated SAVE AMERICA ACT, the Budget, and the ever looming Debt Ceiling disaster, 1929!" Trump wrote.

Because 60 votes are required for passing the SAVE America Act -- which would require proof of citizenship when registering to vote, voter ID, and end universal mail-in ballots with a few exceptions -- Republicans would need to end the filibuster to advance it with a simple majority.

Trump stressed that if and when Democrats return to power, they will immediately nuke the filibuster.

"The Dumocrats will do it on day one, and can't believe how lucky they got with this Senate leadership. Remember, stupidity always brings LOSING & DEATH!" Trump added.

Thune's scheme was to move to adjourn the Senate. If there is no objection, the motion would be approved unanimously with no roll-call.

Scott Presler called for a Senator to object and force a Yea or Nay roll call. At least then the McConnell sell-outs like Thune, Lankford, McConnell, Murkowski, etc. would be on-the-record in favor of continued vote fraud by Democrats.

Senator Lankford (R-OK) is up for re-election in 2028.

He has NOT agreed to stay in DC until the SAVE America Act is passed.



Five Republicans have now said they will object and force a roll call vote, including Ashley Moody and Lindsey Graham's sister Darline.



Meanwhile, Thune continues his mentor Mitch McConnell's practice of never formally recessing the Senate, thereby denying Trump the right enjoyed by all previous presidents of making temporary (one-year) recess appointments when the senate is recessed.

Yeah, about that... Even just medium-quality data would include age and vaxx status. So, if the vaxx increased mortality for younger people, then even if the manufacturers are immune from legal liability, everyone that pushed it would be publicly subject to moral culpability. Entire professions, including Education and The Media, would use every scrap and shred of their influence to avert that hit to their Good Will.

Requiring ID and proper documentation is one thing. Enforcing the law when Judges routinely kick Republican observers out of precincts on election day is quite another. We've already seen tidbits of Lefties deciding they are just going to ignore the law, because repercussions have been scarce. Even Judges now ignore laws clarified by higher courts without any push back.

I'd suggest that you can pass all the SAVE Acts your heart desires. They will only be followed in red controlled voting districts. Bank on it.

Beyond that, it is free to post and no registration with a bunch of interesting people. So, their house, their rules, I try to wipe my feet on the mat. There has a been a fast growing trend of ignoring the law, and that behavior is being sanctioned by local government and sometimes state government. Locations like Seattle and Portland flaunt that approach. The Governor of Minnesota issues pardons based on political spite. Newsom signs laws out of spite (ICE masks et. al).

I'm usually leaning on the side of optimism, but on this particular issue we are talking about the continued existance of the Democrat party. Those are the stakes. Even some of the lesser subtle Democrat congressional representatives are inadvertantly noting that if the SAVE Act passess and is instituted, they're finished.

So, suppose it passes. Now what do they do. Well, they keep it from being enforced, which requires them to dig the hole deeper. They've never had an issue with that endeavor. They've got the entire press corp on their side. And, they'd rather burn it all down than give up power.

Locations like Seattle and Portland flaunt that approach. The Governor of Minnesota issues pardons based on political spite. Newsom signs laws out of spite (ICE masks et. al).

So, suppose it passes. Now what do they do. Well, they keep it from being enforced, which requires them to dig the hole deeper. They've never had an issue with that endeavor. They've got the entire press corp on their side. And, they'd rather burn it all down than give up power.

If he really were 'out for blood,' why aren't press passes pulled in perpetuity? Why aren't sedition and incitement charges being filed against CNN or the NYT? I am curious as to how you come to that conclusion, whig. From what I see, all Trump did was insult them and call them out for being democrat shills.

If he really were 'out for blood,' why aren't press passes pulled in perpetuity? Why aren't sedition and incitement charges being filed against CNN or the NYT? Why aren't the MFM barred from the White House and told that if they so even cast as much as a shadow on the grounds, they will be met with gunfire?

IMO, Trump talks about the MFM being the enemy of the people, but he treats them like simpleminded chuckleheads who just need a little slapping around.
