Brussels is 25% Muslim. Why is anyone surprised that the social compact (a Western idea) has broken down, and crime is rampant? Why is anyone surprised that the possibility of terrorist attacks has increased? Why is anyone surprised that attacks on Jews have increased? In the first two months after the October 7, 2023 terrorist attack on Israel, antisemitic attacks in Belgium increased by a factor of 13!
So now they are going to go after Americans? How does this change anything? The Muslim world is on the march, and they will kill anyone their book commands...starting with Jews, but it is an inclusive command, so really...anyone who isn't a Muslim. And when there aren't any kafirs around, they go after each other! Shia vs. Sunni is as old as Islam. But the inability to function in polite modern society is another unintended consequence of Europe's opening of its borders. They got Islamic terrorism, but they also got the special bonus of a culture that has no respect for the cultural mores developed over 2,500 years... So they got rape and assault and murder and theft and destruction of property and casual aggression directed at...everyone. And let us not forget wholesale fraud directed at the government programs intended to help them! We got a healthy helping of that in America, but Europe has a big head start! Belgium had been designated with the “Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution” classification earlier, with the latest update retaining the classification, while adding in risks of crime and unrest. Terror operatives can use knives, vehicles, and firearms to target crowds. They typically aim their attacks at vulnerable and unprotected targets, such as places of worship, schools, shopping malls, public transportation systems, hotels and restaurants frequented by tourists, and high-profile public events, according to the advisory. So...explain to me again the advantage of opening Western borders to people like this? The short term bump in the voting rolls for the left is going to change quickly once Muslims become enough of a voting bloc to sway elections. And they will sway toward Islam, because that is what they do. New York City has a taste of it with the election of the Islamist Mamdani. Dearborn and Paterson and Passaic and Brooklyn and Philadelphia and Houston and Chicago have their problems too. See the pattern? So what does Islam bring to those cities? It certainly seems like they bring lots and lots of crime and urban blight and an explosion in welfare costs, not to mention an intense focus on Jews and Israel; they are the canaries in the coal mine. Sure, Islam is most exercised by Jews, but Catholics will do as a target in a pinch. Just take a look at what Islam is doing in Nigeria right now...murdering Catholics every single day! And the world cares not a whit. And let us not forget those pesky Protestants and Hindus (Pakistan-India border anyone?). If you think that the Muslims in America are any different than those in Nigeria or Pakistan, I have a bridge to sell you.

I’m not a historian but I have slept at a Holiday Inn in the past… and I think WWI killed Europe; it’s been a zombie since 1918…. Well, since 1945 because 1939-45 was simply a re-start of 1914-18.
We saved their bacon both times because their martial spirit was gone (the useless slaughter of the Great War destroyed the flower of their youth). They’ve had nothing left since to resist any threat. Without the US during the Cold War I’m convinced they would’ve surrendered to the Soviets. Their hate of America is simply projection… they hate themselves for being cowards but can’t admit it so they hate us (Trump in particular) for having the martial spirit they lost (apparently forever) in the two world wars….

However, I don't think ancient Rome committed cultural suicide, any more than the Aztecs did.
There was something called "the great migration of peoples," in which peoples from the steppes put military pressure on neighboring peoples in the trans-Rhine area and on the Danube. These disrupted tribes then put new military pressure on Rome.
A German historian once made a comprehensive list of published exolanations of Rome's fall: he catalogued 600 of them. Starting with leaded wine bottles. So reasonable people can disagree.

I hate to mention it, but it requires one to be able to shoot a rifle, not just a handgun. Given that ARs are cheap enough to have one except for non free states (suggest a lever action for the worst of those in 357 Magnum along with a revolver in that caliber.).
Pick up Colonel Cooper's The Art of a Rifle to understand the why. And he does a damn good job in print of describing the how. Then find some good instruction for it.
Another crusty old guy, John Farnam, also a Vietnam and military retiree, describes it as
You have a handgun facing multiple opponents--you might be able to get one or so if they are closer than 25 yards threatening you with lethal violence. But it is not likely even a wounded person with a handgun is totally out of the fight at that distance.
Next, the shotgun, you might get two and put them down from that 25-75 yards or so. But the recovery from recoil and the rest scattering means you still have too many opponents.
Now,a semi automatic battle rifle, you can put down a sizable group quickly at 100 yards plus.

I saw someone posting on farcebook the old question: Socialists can go form commune type groups right now and live all the socialism they want, so why don't they?

Most of the left leaning ones were "this is a strawman!" with no explanation.
I scanned through though to see if any left of center person could answer it and finally found one...his argument was that for socialism to work it had to own all the means of production not some.
And that's...mighty convent. With Christianity or capitalism societies get better the more of it they have and you can see this easily demonstrated in history compare China under Mao vs China under Deng.
So...no amount of socialism less then 100% is actually socialism. And you can't call any actual socialist society like Mao's China socialism because they were "state capitalism". However you can call Norway or Sweden socialist if you want to make points (even though they aren't socialist by the argument that socialists are using)

The rarely can justify why they chose it. But, they will throw themselves in front of cars to display their committment to it. Because, it's not about the issue. It's about being seen and heard promoting that issue. It's about them (and their perceived self-esteem). You can call it virtue signaling if you want. I don't think that covers it. It's a mental deficiency that requires them to show personal worth.

You could argue that Chinese culture reflects it, but the Asian cultures have never been susceptible to mass religious movements the way that western and Middle Eastern cultures are. I’d even argue that Hindu is primarily a system of crowd control and pacification.

They're typically the children of hard left Democrats who spent an inordinate amount of time in college, learning nothing but how to organize the rabble, fund raise, and dress the part. They may very well have more money than common sense, but they're not "elite."
I'm sure they think they are "elite" but from what I'm seeing, they're morons (the bad kind.)

There's a germ of an idea there, though, so let's run with it. To its believers,it's certainly a religion, and it has most of the characteristics, but what is different?
It's insistence in controlling the secular sphere, as well as the spiritual.
That's a strength (it requires it's adherents to go kinetic) and a weakness, because recognizing this extra facet can be used to justify removing the 1st Amendment protections from Islam..
Let's see what we can do with that.
