Was watching 'North to Alaska' with John Wayne, one movie I had never hear of, but looks funny and how did I ever miss this movie, being a John Wayne fan. I hope its not an AI movie. Local I-Max is showing The Odyssey in 70 mm, one of the few theaters that still show 70 mm rather than digital. A hell of a lot of work handling those big reels of film.

89 I recall, When I first moved here there was a national election. I drove my wife to the voting location, I'm walking with my wife, who who is Australian, otherwise I wouldn't have left the land of milk and honey that is breadbasket America.

We are walking up to the polling station, and all of the electioneers were out there handing out pamphlets, I made a point of saying, "I'm American" which is quite obvious, but the forced it on me anyways. I got the pamphlet for Labour, for the libs, for the greens (that was funny) there was another ridiculous art, and then ONP, which were kind held back in how they approached me.

Standard lies in all of the pamphlets, ZERO fucking info, just dream casting bullshit, and I already knew, my wife is aboriginal, that the presumption of ONP was that they were bigoted knuckle draggers, because I listen to talk radio, or "talkback" as the lost islanders call it. So I read all of their pamphlets because they forced them on me, and I had nothing to do while my wife was voting.

The ONLY political pamphlet that actually had a philosophy other than "Free Shit" and "I promise!" and "Fight the (pick enemy)" was ONP They had an ACTUAL policy sheet

Passed on all three, bought a one-year old Toyota Corona and never regretted it. The 8R-C 110 HP engine was much more robust than the Big Three's offerings.

The very first car that I bought for my self cost me $2,000 even.

It was a 1964 ford thunderbird, silver torquoise, it was a special edition. Mercury spedometers, individual whiper control, including rears, electric trunk release.

and what made me REALLY fall in love with it was when I opened the hood, the valve covers were stamped "T-BIRD"

It was a car that knew what it was. I think at the time, in fact, period the 390 was exclusive to the Thunderbird luxury.

My dream car has always been one of the '61-'63 T-Birds, the "flowerpot tail lights" or "submarine bow" model, or the '64-'66 with the squared-off or "formal" roof. Stu Bailey drove one of the former model in 77 Sunset Strip, and at least one of the Dean Martin Matt Helm movies featured the latter for him to drive.

That was what they used to call a "personal" car, as opposed, I guess, to a "family" car. My father was a GM man and stuck with two-door Chevy Impalas, and later a Monte Carlo, but I always wanted him to get a T-Bird.

Steel blue, matching interior, looking like it just came off the dealer's lot. The guy had his windows down and cruised past us, his muffler giving out just enough growl so you knew it was coming. 182 Winter 2019 my wife, she's australian, and I are touring the states, we go over christmas with my mom, so we rent a car over new years to visit a few of my friends form The Corps. Only thing available was a Nissan Sentra I thihnk, I can't remember, I've only ever driven 3 nissans. It's winter and there was a blast snow, meaning, that as we get into the car there are inches of snow on the road, that haven't melted yet. My wife, who has only ever seen snow on mountains said, "Can I drive, " I was quite stern, "No." I think my point was made.

The roads were slippery as fuck, I'm used to that, grew up with it, and have been driving 3 years longer than the law allows, But FUCK YOU NISSAN!
That was the most uncomfortable car I ever drove ever.

Even my wife, said "I didn't mind it too much." Because she drove using the speedometer on the wheel. until she hit the clover leafs she was driving with a computer, not with the car.

That wa a complete piece of shit.

No, it was a failed pilot. But Shatner was *good* in the role, as he almost always is. If we could have time-shifted, say, Edward Arnold to play Wolfe (he did it in two Thirties movies) and had Bill as Archie, and a proper budget, wow.

The NW pilot with Bill was only a half hour and was an original script of a kind Stout would never have written. But the true Archie flavor was there; and he is shown to be smart, figuring out what Wolfe was really up to in taking the case. And there was an authentic move by Kurt Kasznar's Wolfe, in that he digs up his own well-paid case.

I have to correct myself, it was a '62 T-bird.

And while it was NOT the batmobile, only the quarterpanels were, Marc Cohen wrote an amazing song about how beautiful the transitional T-bird was.

She was BEAUTIFUL! And while I hate losing her, I honestly couldn't have kept her proper at that time, so I sold it back to the same person I bought it from for the same price.

Which is why I was able to buy it to begin with. The owner saw I wasn't a collector, she saw that I loved that car.

She was so beautiful

Saw it during it's first run in early 1961 with a group of friends as a 13 year old. Still love that movie! Played at the Majestic Theater in Perth Amboy, NJ. Was a Walter Reade first run house back then. Classic movie palace.
