24 The word "planters" or even "planter's" always makes me think of Planters Peanuts.

That's a rooster and a sheep and lamb in the lower right corner, but at first glance I thought it was a miniature camel.

The darkness of the sky and the smoke puffing from the chimney makes me think the house is on fire, or the trees just behind the house.

105 This isn't something I would hang but it is an effective painting. Curry portrayed a family, centered around a traditional farm home, showing a comfortable prosperity and contentment and he did so effectively. The soft colors and brushwork add to the emotional aspects. The mother's expression sets the tone for the whole scene. There is a 'peaceable kingdom' feel about it, a sense that this is how things should be.

I like this better than most of Curry's historical themes which are often chaotic and highly exaggerated.

He also wrote the Addams Family theme. I read somewhere that he would come up with the rhythm for a piece first (as in Green Acres's "da-da-da-da-da, BOMP BOMP) and then the melody would come afterwards.

IIRC, Mizzy also sang the Addams theme. It was supposed to be a placeholder voice, but the studio liked his version.

Check out his painting "Ajax", a bull grazing in the field. It's a rather simple image but Curry really expresses the size and power of a bull, even at rest. Very effective.

Me too. But oddly, at the time (I would have been about 5-10) my liking of the shows was reversed. A-Team over Magnum.

But Magnum has layers. As a kid, he was 'vague former military guy.' When I rewatched it as an adult, it was odd. He was a SEAL before the explosion of SEAL awareness. Counter-intelligence. All of a sudden you realize the goofy guy with the rubber chicken was a badass motherfucker.

I hadn't heard that. The theory I'm familiar with was that he was killed by his 'friend' John Carpenter, a gofer and suck-up who was pissed that Crane told him the free ride was over and he was dropping him as a companion.

Crane was bludgeoned with a tripod he was supposedly using at the time.

Bob Crane, the actor best known for Hogan's Heroes, was found bludgeoned to death in his Scottsdale, Arizona, apartment on June 29, 1978. His friend John Henry Carpenter was tried for the murder in 1994 but was acquitted, and the case remains officially unsolved.
