The General Lee has probably been wrecked & frame wracked too many times, so nope. That DeLorean seemed to have ignition issues. Unreliable, so nope. Kitt would never shut up, so definitely nope. Ghostbusters too weird/haunted and A-team van probably reeks of cigar smoke, sweat and testosterone. Nope. Mad Max & all the cop tv show cars probably worn out engines and bullet holes, so nope. That leaves the Bond car. No doubt top of the line, and nice little "features"... Yeah, ok... Just pray it doesn't explode when I turn the key! Posted by: JQ at July 25, 2026 10:20 PM (rdVOm) 48

Speaking of classic cars, we saw a '66 (?) Chevy Chevelle, a Super Sport, on the avenue this evening. Steel blue, matching interior, a muffler that let you know the car was coming. He had the windows rolled down and cruised past us in an eyeblink as Linda was saying, "Is that old car strong enough to pass us . . .?"
The Chevelle I think was better proportioned than the full-size Chevy of that year, the Impala and Caprice. Chevelle was built on the same A-Body platform as the Pontiac Tempest -- which had a special model we know now as the GTO. Nesmith was the only accomplished musician as far as playing an instrument. Davey Jones was a singer, so I guess that counts, and banging a tambourine. Chicks dug him, of course. The one demographic that didn’t diss the Monkees were other bands, because they knew how the industry worked. The Wrecking Crew and other session musicians played on scores and scores of top hits and albums. The Monkees became a “real” band eventually, or wanted to be. Tork’s house in Laurel Canyon was party station, at all times. So this guy on YT (ghosttownliving) bought an old silver mine in the Inyo mountains, "the range separates the Owens Valley to the west from Saline Valley to the east, which is pretty much Death Valley North. I've no idea how he got rich (not mining). Anyhow, he's a hard core mountain goat type and hikes into old prospects trying, it seems, to drum up tourism interest - he built a hotel for adventure tourists. All of this made a bit easier using scouting drones; old decrepit miner lean-tos and huts preserved by enthusiasts.

Nun outside says "For shame! There are so many better ways that you could be spending your time." Guy says "Don't knock it until you've tried it, Sister." Nun: "That's true. I've never in my life allowed liquor to pass my lips. Very well. I've heard that ladies usually drink gin? Bring me a double gin." There at the last in an interview, he recounted how it was The Shat who got him into the toupees, hooking him up with some famous rug-maker to the stars. I saw the perfect example of that adage attributed to Mark Twain about never argue with a fool because onlookers will have trouble telling the difference. It was one of these flat-earth gravity doesn't exist types, it's "density and buoyancy". They had a gravimetry expert on, some guy that does precision gravitational measurements using equipment sensitive enough to detect if Stacey Abrams happened to be close by. He got to trying to explain how buoyancy depends on gravity, and you can experimentally verify that gravity is an independent force that governs the whole thing. He was patient at first, but then was reduced to a ranting, cursing, apparent wild man by the absolute density of the idiot, his inability to comprehend even the most basic statements he made. The flat earth idiot maintained his own composure. The guy who knew what he was talking about was reduced to a ranting lunatic looking crazy person. I went with her mother to gDaughter's horseback riding lesson today. It was a revelation to witness her perform all the necessary tasks to prepare for the exercise and to watch her ride, this child who stopped and turned to me with upraised arms to signal that it was time for me to carry her back home when she was eighteen months old. The four living Moonwalkers are Buzz Aldrin (96), David Scott (94), Harrison Schmitt (91) and Charlie Duke (90). Charlie is the young one, and was the youngest man to walk the moon at the time. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at July 26, 2026 03:08 AM (w6EFb) 365

It has been a long day.
I got a text this morning reminding me that it's the last day to file for the Senate race in Maine. By 1 pm I already signed a fraudulent mortgage agreement (on a Saturday! Money talks) Then I got drunk and beat up some chicks and more or less sexually assaulted some more, but ran out of time. Then three hours getting "Free Palestine" tatoo'd on my forehead in rainbow colors, and a not really Nazi thing on my LEFT pectoral. Sent money from some offshore accounts to ActBlue while in the chair. I expect some serious campaign cash by Venmo like now already. Finally an oyster po-boy (heh) and off to bed with this crazy blue haired chick who is making my campaign t-shirts and who will find me to be the man she always wanted from the Most Wanted list. House is finally cooled off. Been so hot lately, the one a/c unit could barely keep up. But hey, 80* is better than 100+, right?

Which vehicle to pick depends on whether you're also choosing the associated 'Verse. If it's just a car made up like the one in the TV show or movie, then the A-Team's 1983 GMC Vandura would be very practical, or Magnum's 1979/81/84 Ferrari 308 GTS convertible would instantly make me 1000x as attractive (though I shudder to think how much the insurance would be).
If it would actually be the real thing, meaning that you would be choosing to live in the world where those events are realistic, then I'm not sure I would want to live in any of them. Most shows don't hold up well under scrutiny, and actually get rather horrifying the more you think about the implications. "Wait, slow down, rewind, everyone just ignored what? Like, that is *normal* in their minds?!" I don't even mean sci-fi or sci-fantasy elements. I mean (supposedly) human elements, in ordinary, mundane, contemporary sitcoms and dramas. Although... on second thought, a world where serious vehicle accidents are stereotypically harmless could be nice. I could live in the A-Team world, I guess.
