Reports of a Republican Midterm Loss Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

Rick Moran on the Republican fundraising advantage:

I did a double take when I saw the fundraising totals for the midterm elections in Politico. Republican party committees and super PACs have raised $657 million for the midterms, now just four and a half months away. That's nearly double the $337 million the Democrats have raised.

And it gets worse for the Democrats. The largest single financial entity raising money for the midterms, MAGA, Inc., reports $400 million in cash as of June 30.

That billion-dollar-plus war chest is three times as much as the Democrats' cash entering the final months of the campaign.

And it has the potential to cost them if Republicans are smart about where they put all that cash.

Politico:


"What is putting the House majority and the Senate majority, nationally, in danger is the Republicans' massive stockpile of resources that they're putting together to push back," said Morgan Jackson, a longtime North Carolina Democratic strategist and an adviser to former Gov. Roy Cooper, who is running for Senate.

"If you get outspent five to six to eight to one, that can alleviate the environmental advantage that Democrats have this cycle of poor leadership from the White House, a dysfunctional Congress, a bad economy that they own," he added. "There's a lot of concern to that."

The Republican National Committee has $129 million in cash on hand. The Democrats are still $2 million in debt. That bespeaks an organization that's floundering, unable to raise money to pay what it owes.


The House race is now basically a toss-up: Per Fox's count -- and remember, Fox's polling operation is super-liberal and run by a Hillary Clinton supporter -- Republicans have 208 seats in the bag, Democrats have 211, and there are 16 toss-ups.

Republicans would only have to grab ten of those 16 toss-ups to win a (super-thin) majority of 218. (But it would be a more solid majority than one depending on Majorie Trailer-Queen and Thomas Massie.)

Actual Republicans continue to be historically united behind Trump, at 83%.

The Charlie Cook political report is even more bullish on the Republicans, saying that they have 212 solid seats right now, and Democrats only 205.

This post contrasts that with 2018, when Democrats won the House. Back in 2018, Democrats has 210 solid seats, and the Republicans only 195.

The one with the lesser treasure chest is dependent on basement dwelling malcontents with absolutely no money who think everyone else should pay for them. THAT's why the DNC has been so dependent on laundered taxpayer money acquired through NGO's, Grants pushed down the ladder to cut-out charities, and outright pie pieces of generated heathcare fraud.

Without entities like Act Blue to deceptively assign non-auditted donations to unknowing parties, the fundraising dries up from every one of these efforts.

I wasn't worried about the 2024 election for a second, and I've said for quite a while that I'm even less worried about the 2026 midterms. Trump is managing the war and the markets very well. As long as oil stays elevated but not too spiky (worst-case), people will get used to the economy - especially because once this ends, the good times will roll even better than before. Our GDP would be at least 1.5% higher without the war anchor.

That said, there is only one thing that will risk Congress at this point. That is the GOPe. Thune doesn't want to pass SAVE, and you know that it's his job to take the slings and arrows for at least 10 other senators that feel the same way but need to keep quiet - Thune's seat is quite safe. If he and the GOPe are successful, however, that could depress turnout on our side. As I see it, that's the black swan that can hurt us. Graham hurt us during the last midterm. Someone else will step up to try and do it this time.

Saw a sobering poll. In 2018 Dems won 90% of those voters who were negative on Trump. Today it’s fallen to 69%. That means roughly 21% of the voters have decided that yes Trump sucks but there’s no way in hell I’m voting for the democrats. I think what happened in 2020, some parts of the Biden administration, and the DSA are all to blame for this brand collapse.

I believe that, historically, dem donors have been US taxpayers filtered through a couple layers of grifting cutouts. Some of those avenues have been shut down and the billionaires don't want to spend their own money to make up the shortfall.

I worked a couple places in Colorado last year. The old natives say the same thing. It sucks. You have something good ... and the locusts flock. Especially in the West.

Can't tell you how many NorCal places I worked that I liked. Same old story. Great folks captured in the same geography as San Franscisco and South. NorCal is - honestly - just about the best place I've ever visited. Other than than the Orange Beach / Gulf Shores part of the Gulf of America.

Yuba City. And entire NorCal town that has a lot of stuff ... yet lets chickens run free in town. Just cool. I tried to buy a three foot tall painted metal chicken to bring home. Couldn't figure out how to load it in the work truck.

The RNC in 2018 wanted to Trump to lose. All the establishment types did. They wanted Trump to lose to punish MAGA and force them to go back in their holes. Trump losing the House was "proof" that MAGA had failed.

ICE arrests are just a small fraction of overall arrests.

Most actually happen by local cops under 287g agreements with DHS.

They pick up an illegal for speeding, check his lawful status, arrest him, call ICE, and ICE shows up and picks him up, quickly getting him to the 5th Circuit if outside of it, and then deported in less than 30 days.

We're going to do a lot more than 2 million forced deportations by the time JD Vance is inaugurated president. It'll be at least 5 million.

Plus the 3-5x ratio of self-deports to forced deports.

Before the rule about reporting before poll closure, Wayne County would pour out the vote totals all day. Wayne County was always the first to finish their count and it made it look like a ("blue") landslide.

When it counted, and the Dems felt like they could demoralize the rest of the state, they reported early. When I was a young kid, my mom told me "Don't worry that's mainly Detroit. We always catch up."

Now that Wayne County can't demoralize conservative voters, they are the last to finish their count (and I always say because they need to know the number of votes to manufacture).

The Demedia is like that, however, sometime, they want you overconfident, to then suddenly give you the feeling that conservatism nose-dived when they really start trying to demoralize conservative voters.

They pick up an illegal for speeding, check his lawful status, arrest him, call ICE, and ICE shows up and picks him up, quickly getting him to the 5th Circuit if outside of it, and then deported in less than 30 days.

We're going to do a lot more than 2 million forced deportations by the time JD Vance is inaugurated president. It'll be at least 5 million.

Plus the 3-5x ratio of self-deports to forced deports.

If the state won't, the national party should do it. Worst case is it gives some young up and comers experience and it costs about nothing if you do it right. Do it like Pressler and have people go sweep up trash that the city won't do, and have a party afterwards and listen to what they say, have a beer.

In the victory operation I worked, there were nationals with the GOTV effort, along with the poll watcher effort (which I coordinated), and the attorney effort (for on the spot challenges and shenanigan calls).

Except for local phone-calling, actual poll watching, and door knocking, most of us were from out of state, funded (room and stipend) by RNCC.
