We lost our Sonny last night to a stroke. He was almost 11, so a good age for a boy, but we're very sad today. We've lost Finn, Val, Dan and now Sonny this year. Just Dot and Dutchess remain from their litter. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at July 18, 2026 08:12 AM (3pDH/) 12
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. St. Camillus of Lellis, patron of hospitals, pray for us. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. *** I have prayed Rosaries for the Horde's intentions, both stated and unstated. Posted by: Retired Buckeye Cop is now an engineer at July 18, 2026 08:15 AM (ksbjf) 13

Prayers up for those that have asked us for them in the prayer list;
Prayers up for those that know they need them but have not asked us for them; Prayers up for those that need them but don’t know it yet; and Prayers up for those who pray alone, asking for help in silence, and whose prayers are known but to God! Prayers up even for all "our" politicians who have decided that their 10% graft and power are still far more desirable than their honor or integrity, may they see the error of their ways, repent, and become true representatives of we the people! And lastly, prayers up for President Trump, keep him and our beloved country safe from harm, and may the many forces of corruption and evil arrayed against both him and our country be rendered ineffective and their plans come to naught! I took Mom yesterday to the viewing for one of her last remaining high school friends. He was the father of my elementary school best friend.
He was a good man, great father, and had a life well lived. Godspeed, Mr. B. Posted by: Dash my lace wigs! at July 18, 2026 08:41 AM (h7ZuX) 28

This is really a beautiful essay on a RC Cardinal from Estonia who sent more about 18 years in jail under the communists due to his witness to his faith. He is 94. I think it a lovely testimony to this devoted, courageous and humble man. You don't have to just be RC to appreciate this, because we who share the Christian faith are all striving to be remade in the image of Christ and holiness ( a lifelong journey)through the power of the Holy Spirit. From the "National Catholic Register":
I realize I just forget the link. I'll post it momentarily. Posted by: FenelonSpoke at July 18, 2026 08:43 AM (zqeQL) 30
@FenelonSpoke:
A six foot piece of yarn, dragged slowly around a corner. The game is "Fishing for kitty." If the kitten does not chase the end of the yarn, then the kitten must be asleep, otherwise a guaranteed response of "Must NOT let it get away!!" will take over kitty's entire being, and the chase-and-attack will commence. This game is also useful for finding a hidden kitty. They will break deep cover to not let that yarn get away. Posted by: Grumpy and Recalcitrant at July 18, 2026 08:44 AM (O7YUW) 31

Thanks. We've been playing that . It's so much fun. He also likes to hang out by the stair banisters and reach out through them towards me. I call this game "Lions and Christians." 😉 I do have to keep reminding him "I'm not a kitten, so no bites and no scratches". He's a smart little guy and I think will pick that up. Morning again, caffeinators,
Two pages and a bit more are done, and as Papa Hemingway advised, I stopped in the middle of a scene and a sentence, ready to pick up later. It's building to the big action scene, so I *really* want to go on with it, and I might. Shave a shower first, though.
