Naval experts were all over this. Concluding the Chinese warships are literally paper tigers... thin hulls not able to withstand much damage.

To cut to the chase, the poll shows the regime, its works, and its policies to be just extraoridnarily unpopular.
The people can't afford food. This was in May. I suspect it's gotten worse. They have a very bleak view of their future. They would like to see fundamental changes made in the govt.
The article points out (intuitively correct) that the terrible polling data likely understates the real extent of disapproval... because many people are afraid to answer.
I've often wondered-- if the U.S. set up a Free Iran Republic, perhaps in the Kurdish territory, if many non-Kurds might rally to it.

A lot of analysis has gone into the PLAN's new carriers. There's speculation the next one they build will be nuke powered. That'll be interesting. The CCP has a lot invested in their Navy right now, but they're still unable to fully operate a carrier strength air wing off of any of their flattops.

So after he tackled mental illness in Dark Side of the Moon (Syd Barrett), the music business (Wish you were Here), he started in on Orwell (Animals) and then the Wall where he had his own reckoning with the alienating effects of musical stardom, his father's death at Anzio and a fear of an Orwellian government. Final Cut dealt with Maggie's England and nuclear war.
Then he went totally anti-Semite. From what I recall, part of the Wall's bitter ashes of stardom was from the Animal's tour where Roger got annoyed at a fan yelling and screaming on the front row for every song--loud or soft. So he beckoned the fan closer and then spit on him from the stage.

it is never clear until the collapse happens. That's why it is called a collapse.
I agree that there is "a lot of ruin in a nation" so people who think if it doesn't go down in a week everything has failed are being silly.
What I don't see yet is any sign that the country is rallying and getting stronger. Factions fight factions, leaders get killed, the 'reprisals' become weaker and nations join our alliance and join in.

HOWEVER, Millions of Baby Boomers served as soldiers during the Vietnam Era. Born between 1946 and 1964, they comprised the primary generation that fought in the conflict. While roughly half of the draft-eligible men in that generation received deferments (often for college), millions of others volunteered or were drafted.
Older Boomers (born 1946–1952) were the demographic most heavily impacted by the draft and were the soldiers who fought on the ground during the height of the Vietnam War in the 1960s.
Younger Boomers (born 1953–1964) were teenagers or younger during the majority of the conflict. By the time the draft lottery was introduced in 1969 and the draft ended in 1973, many were still too young to serve.
Overall, roughly 10 percent of all Baby Boomer men served in the U.S. armed forces, with millions actively deployed to Southeast Asia.

Actually it was mental illness. Syd Barrett whether he fried his brain on LSD. other drugs, or whether he used it to treat whatever mental problems he had actually showed up at the lengthy recording sessions for Dark Side.
He was unrecognizable to the rest of the band from the Syd they all knew. The link between mental illness and drug usage is slippery and depends on just what drug and what their preexisting,usually unknown, mental issues were.
Add in the pressure of public performing, constant requirements of the biz to do promos, record more songs, make hits, ego development from being worshipped, etc., is not the best environment for healthy living. Bad Finger had two suicides in part based on such stress and a real villain as manager.
